They used to be great when it was a sail away from the helipad. These days we skip it

We’ve always referred to these events as the “cattle call”.  Complete waste of time, IMO.

I haven’t been able to determine why only certain ones are allowed. But if it’s disallowed it will wipe out the title you’ve used immediately. So if you’re going to try new ones make sure to  copy of the text before you chance it! I just went back and checked all the ones I’ve use of trips the last 5 years and these are additional ones to those above that are allowed:
    ♠️ (I use this for the casino 😂), ➡️, ⭕️,  ⚠️, ✅, ☀️, ❇️, *️⃣, ▪️, ⚛️, ❓, ‼️

Update--I called and asked if I could purchase the refreshment package rather than the drink package (with my cabin mate still getting the drink package) because I am prime in the casino and don't plan to buy additional drinks. They allowed it! Very pleasant surprise. I'm not sure if it was just a lucky fluke--I know the agent I spoke to had to talk to some other folks to get the go ahead.

You bet I want to !!  ...but we have yet to cruise since the re-start on ANY ship so prudence tells me to wait until I know it's "safe" and then book something that extreme !

AlohaLivin reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Icon-When will you book?
I have a "hold" on an Icon Loft (SC) for 12-7-24.
It's notable that the required down payment for this cruise is $1200 which is completely non-refundable. There is a $100 PP penalty for transferring the reservation but if you cancel outright, it will cost you the whole $1200.  YIKES !
I have a week to pay the down payment.  Quite a decision...

    and @DixieNN
Glad to be of help 🙂 We tried pro, but the free version is a plenty for us. The pro version gives you notices on flights, but so do the airline apps so why pay? As you can see from my example, I hope, I add various emoticons/icons to the titles of events to separate out categories of activities/items. I use⚡️♨️❗️☯️🌀✳️✴️♦️… etc. There may be 20 of them that will work and sadly I have no idea what distinguishes the ones at work and the ones that don’t. But I find it helpful to use one icon for all excursions, another for important notes, another for meals, etc.

Thank you so much @AlohaLivin for reminding me of TripIt....I've had this app for over 10 years and last used it in 2016. I resurrected it last night and am having a ball!! What is the biggest difference between the Free version and Pro, in your opinion?

Such good points! I have to wonder if @britinbrooklynrealizes that in setting things up as he has it will mean that the grandmother is the only one in the family who doesn’t get to eat at the coastal kitchen or go to the suites lounge or enjoy many of the other benefits that rest of the family has? I would think that could be a problem;  if I were going on a cruise with my family and everyone else was in a star suite while I was stuck in an interior I am pretty sure I would have some seriously negative feelings about that (particularly if I was expected no babysit 😤).  Maybe I missed something crucial somewhere in the story?

I can’t help you with the printing of that calendar, but if I can recommend an app to easily track your vacation plans and reservations - TripIt (there is a free version snd paid version, but we’ve dropped down to the free version because we are not traveling many times a year).

I will attach a sample of the one that I have done, this was for a cruise last November (I different colorful icons designate specific types of events, but that is just me being “extra” 😇😂). You can add in PDFs or JPEG‘s, anything you may need for a particular activity/event. Note - I try to set up most of the schedule prior to the cruise using reports from other cruises and the concierge on show times and previous cruise compasses).

AlohaLivin reacted to twangster in Allure - Starlink Confirmed
I hate to say I told you so, but I warned of this many times before.  Not aimed at any poster here, but switching satellite providers while retaining the outdated and archaic practice of throttling users will yield very little difference in the user experience.
The satellite provider hasn't been the problem all along.  Royal has been.  This throttling on some ships with Starlink but not on other ships with Starlink is an experiment is trying to determine what they can get away with while looking to introduce new packages at higher rates that provide better speeds.
For all those that were excited about the Starlink coming to Royal news - Ha Ha!  Jokes on you!

I have not been in this situation, however, if I was, I would immediately begin the process of getting a[nother] certified birth certificate. 2 is better than none…and if he does not have either the BC or the passport, he will not be sailing.

@smokeybanditand @KJonesmake a good point on the drink tipping  - we drink very little and our D+ vouchers are far more than sufficient for our daily use (with plenty to spare 😂). So when we do drink, we are either using a voucher or getting a free drink in the suite’s lounge and that is why I said that we always tip for every drink (as there is no auto 18% gratuity). Thanks for pointing that out.

You'll get charged 18% gratuities for each drink. You're under no obligation to tip extra, and if you do want to, how and when is up to you.  Though if you tend to frequent the same bar/bartender, tipping extra as you go may be to your benefit.

I believe they'll swipe your card after each drink, which will include the auto 18%. If you want to tip extra, you can do that at that time or at the end.

I personally would never withdraw my gratuities. That’s not fair, in my humble opinion, to all those people who get part of the  tips that we usually do,not see in person.   We do tip extra to the cabin steward and waiters at the end of the cruise. We also tip something with each drink and tip the concierges (Diamond Lounge/Suite lounge). I’m one of those who comes down kind of hard on the side of tipping because I think if you can afford a cruise then you can afford to tip the  people working hard to make you happy.  While I think that tipping in the US has gotten a bit out of hand,  with cruise staff I have zero issue with paying gratuities.
