  1. Apparently the Oasis was full of them (swingers, not hammocks) last November. Thankfully we were on Symphony
  2. That was just this morning, I don’t think there’s going to be a problem with the CK reservations, I was just confused about where they were standing now in terms of entertainment reservations. They have always done them for us and then suddenly there was an email suggesting they would not. I was just wondering what other peoples experiences were recently with this issue. I did contact one of the concierge is the whom we’ve become close who used to be on the symphony in his now on another ship. I was really wanting to know from him if this was a new change, but instead of confirming to me whether this perk had now changed he instead asked me to send him the CK and entertainment schedule. While that’s great, I would still like to know what’s happening on this issue fleet wide.
  3. Yikes, that doesn’t sound positive. I know the birthday issue had to be particularly disappointing to you I have not had many go over and above, but I’ve had a few, but the making the reservations ahead of time has always been a basic (and as a person in the family that tries to set up everything so the vacation smooth, super important to me). @TeresaMc good to know! I am sure that she is happier if she’s able to be near her husband. Do you remember where there was any problem having your reservations for entertainment taken care of?
  4. @BB1I have heard that! Which is why this really was surprising. @smokeybandit I had not heard of her, not sure of her last name, but good to know you had a good experience with her! We have only had one female concierge thus, far strangely enough, but we loved her.
  5. Fellow suite addicts We are scheduled to sail on Symphony next week in a Crown Loft. We have sailed only in the RCCL suites and love them; the best perk of a suite for us isn’t the suite itself but the help available from the concierges. From our first sailing to our last (2 post shutdown), there has never been any problem with sending the concierge a list of our preferred dining and entertainment schedule and having that completed before the sailing. It is sincerely a large part of what made the suites worth the price for us. But the email that we received today from Nadja & Jennie for our next sailing indicates, at least to my reading, that we have to wait to schedule the entertainment once we are onboard (although the entertainment schedule was attached). I went ahead and sent in our preferences to them as we have always done, but I am confused about this seeming change. We have never had a sailing where the concierge failed to do this for us, certainly never one where they specified we needed to do so only onboard. I am wondering about what others have experiences with this on any of the ships before and/or after the shut down. I don’t know if this is a sudden change for this ship, a very recent change for all the ships, or if these particular concierges decided to opt out of this task. Thanks!
  6. As a person whose parents cruised with her during early adolescence, I recommend watching them closely Well part of that is funny, part is a serious comment. When I was a very young teen I had crew members coming on to me on cruise ships. Granted, this was in the 70’s and I was perhaps the only female under the age of 40 on those ships; but those guys were not just doing innocent flirting. Looking back with adult eyes it is rather shocking.
  7. I believe that the minimum age is 21. Sorry
  8. I have to wonder how a Bahamian marriage could impact someone in unexpected ways (I have no idea what problems might occur, but it makes sense that there could be glitches at some point). Good luck
  9. We have iPhones, AT&T plans, and we never have any problem connecting to wifi onboard with the phone on airplane mode. No idea why you cannot, but this is definitely not the case for many/most phones.
  10. The license in marriage would very likely be from the Bahamas and I have no idea how difficult those are to obtain. But I do remember reading that weddings booked through Royal were canceled through 2022
  11. We love the smaller ships You get to know the crew and they get to know you in a way that rarely happens on large ships, the spaces feel cozy, there are decks with the feel of the early cruise ships that allows\ed you to feel as if you were truly on a ship on the sea (vs a small city where you rarely see the ocean from the ship), and it is easier get to know (and like) your fellow cruisers as you see them more often. Thus, of the 6 cruises we have booked 4 are on smaller ships.
  12. I did not know if his ID was DL or not. Gotcha If they will allow a voter’s card with an ID, in addition to a DL, that would be great. Every state is so different on these things. Our local college will let people in the community get a library card there, which are in essence is like student IDs, and they have photos. It could work if there’s a college nearby.
  13. The point of an ID is of course to ID someone and therefore I would think the expiration would be less an issue than that his picture and name are congruent. To be honest, I don’t recall people looking at our ID’s for long enough to be checking everything. I know he’s got a drivers license, can they also issue him a state ID that they might be able to get to him faster or on the spot? I ask that because when I get my new drivers license they always give me an exact copy on cardboard immediately and then mail me the same one with laminate. If all else fails I think I would take the expired passport, expired license, his birth certificate, and school ID and then if needed (as they may not even notice the date) plead my case in person. But that’s me… Yet in the end If it says online a BC snd student ID are acceptable then they *must* accept that Whether the school is public or private. I would also be as distressed as you are and I feel so for you. It does at times feel like it is one thing after another and the world is out to get us. I have all my fingers crossed for you! P.S. I’m sorry if I missed this, but are you working with the TA? Just wondered is she/he had thoughts/options. And this may sound silly, but does your local library (even local college library who offers locals cards) give photo id cards?? That would be a govt ID!
  14. I had sailed since I was a child because my parents were early on the cruise train. But made the mistake (?) i’m booking a suite the first cruise that my husband and I took together so he now thinks it is standard issue The service (and Bathrooms and closet space…) are addicting. But once we retire and cruise much more often, we may have to figure out how to “squeeze” ourselves (and my clothes and shoes) occasionally into a Jr. Suite I have never met either one of these concierges. I have heard good things about Nadja, but never heard of Jennie. Nice, helpful? We will be there on the 16th.
  15. The beauty of drinking very little is alcohol is that we never need the drink package and only occasionally indulge in the SL. But as we go from Diamond to Diamond + at least our cruise friends are getting free drinks fairly often
  16. The one on 4/16? We are on that sailing and know of a few people who won their Royalup bids over the last 2 days, so you may just get lucky!
  17. If you’re going to be on the symphony, bring a parka, snow boots, and a wool blanket
  18. I’m actually extremely surprised to hear this. I have never heard of them doing that, in fact there is a history of people (Pinnacles and those paying for Suites).getting rather bent out of shape over issues of thinking someone might have brought family members in other cabins to the lounge and CK (much less a 8+ friends). I have never known anyone to be told anything other than a clear “no” as often people have family and friends in non-suites (even those in junior suites are only allowed to use a CK when there is “space available”). Which concierge on Allure? Has anyone else seen this allowed?
  19. Some of the others will need to speak to that question - we have used iPhones exclusively since their inception and primarily use Voom not chat. The only thing I recall being a problem for us with chat was getting notifications that were useful (you had to be signed in). But I am sure some of the many experienced cruisers here will be able to answer your additional questions
  20. Exactly! We had a situation regarding a foul-up by a combo of our TA and RCCL regarding a 2020 FCC (I won’t lay out the specifics as it would sound long and insane). But in the end I emailed the owner of the rather large cruise TA group and miraculously the TA got busy and fast. The outcome was RCCL ended up refunding the FCC a year our from the original FCC (probably the only way to untangle the mess), but at least something got done. Sometimes lighting a fire under someone is needed
  21. They are independent. One family member being on chat will not effect the internet user. If you buy the 2 device Voom your child could also be on at the same time as you; any two of you can be on (it is always under 1 person’s name, but you can have the number of connections open as the number your purchased). Note. If you are in a suite the purchase of Voom is not needed as it is part of the Sky suite package.
  22. That sounds like that will be quite the anniversary! Congratulations
  23. That was a day that I hope never to repeat. Horrible, sad, difficult day. Made worse by the fact the airport was in no way prepared for such a scenario and there were so many people packed in without any idea which way to go.
  24. Here is hoping they amp the service and food prep in the CK /SL when they do! When we go from symphony to allure we feel as if we have entered an entirely different planet Ck wise.
  25. THIS. The walk-in closet! That should’ve been at the top of all lists Half the reason we like full suites is the extra closet/storage space and while the JS has less space than the full suites it has a great deal more than a balcony (relatively speaking).
