  1. If it is in a completely sealed package -- (ie, not the kind with a twist tie or a bread clip, since those packages are not completely sealed), then yes, probably. Unfortunately, I think the only breads I've ever seen like that in my supermarket is some gluten free breads (ie, Schar brand rolls and baguettes).
  2. my older DD doesn't have a smart phone (disabled), but we plan on putting the royal app on her tablet, just in case she needs it for the safety briefing. Thank goodness my Mom isn't cruising anymore -- she has a smart phone with no clue how to use it (doesn't even text), and I keep telling her to get a plain one so she isn't charged for data every month, but she won't listen to me....
  3. When we travel (4 adults in 2 cabins), I reserve online like that (how many cabins, 2, how many in each cabin, 2) and the reservations are automatically linked. In my app, for my August cruise, I have 2 listings for the 9 night eastern caribbean -- one with my name & my husband's, one with my daughters' names. Each cabin has a reservation #. Now, I haven't checked in using the app yet, but I imagine that if both reservations are listed, both can be checked in together. If they're not linked, ask your TA to do it (if you used one), or call Royal
  4. so, bring a safety pin to attach it, or hang it off a seapass lanyard?
  5. What if the passenger has very large wrists (DH is VERY large boned, this does NOT look like it will fit!)
  6. Thank you, and we've had no trouble on past cruises, either in MDR or specialty. Just haven't been on Oasis before, & the family is big on bbq, so was hoping to to be able to try it at least once. Will definitely drop by and ask, was just hoping for a definitive answer before if one was available. And yes, celiac is different from gluten sensitivity, although I understand that the latter can be very painful, although they may be able to tolerate stray cross contamination. If DD is exposed, it's 24 - 48 hours of hell (nausea, brain fog, aches, etc), and the longer it's been since she's been exposed, the worse the rxn is, so we have to be really careful. Thanks for the answer.
  7. Was wondering about that -- travel with a DD who is gluten free (celiac). Are the meats safe? That's what she'd mainly be interested in, anyway. Corn on the cob should be a safe side
  8. Yes, when there is overwhelming success in trials, the FDA will often fast track approval. Years ago, a drug was being studied to help heart patients -- the drug so outperformed placebo in the trials that the FDA halted the trials, on the basis that it was unfair to the patients in the placebo arm, not to get what was obviously an effective drug.
  9. If you're willing to chance waiting on board, and are flexible, I know that in the past, when they haven't had enough reservations, some of the specialty restaurants will have people roaming to see if passengers want to book, usually at a reduced price, although I don't know if it is just reduced from on-board pricing (which I believe is more than cruise planner) or even lower than that. We get at least one specialty lunch & dinner from our TA, so we book onboard after deciding when & where to go.
  10. Might be why I prefer it then -- I don't care to drink soda from a bottle or can directly (with or without a straw) as it always seems "over-fizzy" to me, but prefer to pour it over ice, to reduce the bubbles. To each his own, I guess
  11. Thanks for the info! Our check in date is Nov 25 (Thanksgiving!), so I've asked DH to plan to start just after midnight to check us all in (he stays up late too, and unfortunately, I have to work on T-day, so he gets the fun). Even if all he does is select our check in time, it will help. Questions -- if you or anyone else knows -- we're 4 people in a Junior suite (1 reservation) -- does he need to pick a check in time for each of us individually, or do we all get piggybacked onto his time? He will check himself in first, then the rest of us. Can you scan someone else's passport on your app ? (one DD doesn't have a phone, but we can download the app on her tablet if necessary). And, does anyone know the check in time slots for Anthem out of Bayonne (I think the first cruise is actually tomorrow!), since we are still debating what time we want to try to check in, and have to decide before he starts (and I don't want him waking me at midnight to ask!)
  12. I'm looking forward to 150 Central Park & Izumi (if my GF daughter can eat there). I'd prefer those over Chops & Giovanni if I'm going to spend the money, since I've eaten at those 2 before, & in August it will be my first time on Oasis. Also like CK, but I've heard it's harder for JS passengers to get the dinner reservations on Oasis than it is on Anthem. Portside BBQ & El loco Fresh will be worth a look also. As others say -- it's all in what you want. My DD is 31, disabled, and would be happy with scrambled eggs with cheese, toast, and bacon for breakfast, grilled cheese, a burger or chicken fingers for lunch, and fish or spaghetti for dinner (with her shrimp cocktail appetizer, and cheesecake with chocolate sauce for dessert) -- basically, it's like traveling with a 5 year old. So, specialty restaurants are wasted on her, but DH will want to try a few, and so will I, so we do it.
  13. Nope, have to do it all the time -- older DD can't drink for medical reasons, but likes the mocktails, so we get her the refreshment package (she's 31, but disabled, so she travels with us.) If she shares a room with her sister, we get them one full package & 1 refreshment package. After our upcoming cruise, she, DH & I will all be diamond, so no need for drink package. We can use her vouchers for alcohol, and just get her the refreshment package for the mocktails, juice, soda, etc
  14. Mentioned this in another post -- DD got a J&J shot in April, and when I asked to see her card, the only part filled in was the location -- Dept of Health in Piscataway, NJ (actually in the parking lot outside, LOL) . NOTHING ELSE!!!! Seriously -- nothing else -- no brand, Lot, exp -- nothing! And then the spot closed down for a while, (J&J was put on hold temporarily for side effects), and she called, emailed, filled out forms, called -- finally, I told her to go back to the site, go into the office building and find someone there to fix it. Luckily, they were able to look it up & fill it in for her.
  15. Ok, did not know about any of this!! One more item to add to the packing list (tiny rubber bands,)
  16. so pictures aren't good enough? Is the app enough, or should I just plan on bringing the physical card?
  17. DH is insisting we don't need to bring the cards, but I'm pretty sure everything I've read so far says we do -- is that correct? We haven't been able to check in yet, so not sure what we'll have to do, but we do all have pics of our cards, and I was able to download an app (good for NJ , Minnesota & Utah) that shows your vaccine record, although it took a weirdly long time to "find" my records. I was vaccinated in Dec & Jan, found out about this app in mid July, tried several times to find my records, and then suddenly, this week, after I got my Pfizer booster dose -- all 3 are listed. BTW -- I also managed to lose my card, but since I work at the hospital where I got the dose, & there are electronic records, as well as my showing the picture of my original card, I was able to get a replacement. Better story -- DD got the J&J vaccine in April (day before they suspended use temporarily for side effects), came home, & when I asked to see her card, all that was on it was the location -- no name, no manufacturer, lot, exp date -- NOTHING!!!. Then, since they suspended that vaccine, the site she went to wasn't open, so no good there. Finally, after going online, filling out forms, filling out forms AGAIN, calling, etc -- I told her to go to the place again (it was done as a "drive thru" site outside another town's Dept of Health) go in to the office & explain the problem. They were able to look it up and fill in the info for her, but it took a couple of months. I'd hate to try to replace that one.
  18. DH went on one of the full ship tours, which included the kitchens, and was shown the separate "allergy" area where the gluten free & other items were prepared. DD has never had an issue, although we have always done set time dining with the same waitstaff, as opposed to MTD. We preferred the MDR for breakfast & lunch when available, but when we have had to use Windjammer she's been able to eat. Our next cruise is Anthem, & I know there is a GF section there, but to be honest, if they are serving from the buffet I would prefer that for her, as people are not always careful. We've done specialty, and she's always been safe there also.
  19. We're doing Oasis Aug 5 2022 also -- can't wait! First doing Anthem in January. And yes, DH drops off me, 2 daughters (1 in wheelchair), and all the luggage at the terminal. We have to wait maybe 5-10 minutes for him to park & walk back to join us, but that was in previous years when it was quite busy. Not sure what January will be like yet, in terms of passenger capacity.
  20. currently Platinum, but after our Jan cruise (11 days in a Jr suite) we will jump to Diamond (DH & I, anyway), since it's double double points, I think! Will be Diamond for our Aug 2022 cruise on Oasis, so should be interesting - older DD can't have alcohol for medical reasons -- would they substitute mocktails, do you think?
  21. We had 2 cancelled cruises (4 people, 2 rooms each one), and our FCC has been an adventure, to say the least. I was the primary person in one room (DH the 2nd) & one DD was primary in the other room on one cruise, & other was primary on the 2nd. To make it more fun, we used FCC from the first cancelled one (July 2020) to pay for the 2nd cancelled one (except for the down payment) from March 2021. I have 1 FCC certificate, & the other 3 people have 2 each. None of them match what our actual cost (original, + 25%) actually should be. And, the total is short about $70. My DH has spreadsheets, had our TA trying to fix, then she sent it off to Royal to see if they could fix it. Next cruise in 83 days, and we want to use some of what we've got to pay it off, but if we don't have the correct numbers before we use any of them, I'm afraid they will never get them right.
  22. had an issue @ Disneyland years ago -- can't remember if it was in Disneyland or California Adventure park -- had gone on one attraction (can't remember which one) but it apparently had a minimum height that was ignored first time I took DD on it (just under 8yo @ at the time), but when we went back another day, someone was paying attention & measured her. DID NOT want to hear, " but she went on it earlier" & someone was very disappointed. They probably can't cheat, either, since they probably scan Sea Pass cards that give out the ages.
  23. Haven't done it (my "kids" are grown), but I thought you could either leave the kids in kids club, & they would bring them to dinner (pre-covid, anyway), or they would charge $ 10, & the kids had a kids menu
  24. Our TA told us a couple of weeks ago that even though final payment was due October 11, they wanted it by Sept 30. Since it was mostly FCC, that wasn't a problem. However, my DH has been working with the FCC from 2 cancelled cruises -- July 2020 & March 2021 -- and Royal is still off by about $70 from the total (it also has completely screwed up the $ amounts for 4 of us, in terms of how it was charged initially, and how it was given back to us), but he's not as concerned about that as trying to see if we can get our remaining money back. We may finish paying early, if only to be able to check in earlier, & get a preferred boarding time, so....
  25. I would imagine Giovannni's is your best bet for on the ship. Sorry I can't speak to the ports. Giovanni's on Adventure was wonderful, so hopefully will be the same on Oasis https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/menus/giovannis-table-menu-sample.pdf
