  1. On the original Quantum class ships the area was open through a series of arches so crew could go outside but not be exposed to full sun. On Spectrum and Odyssey they closed the arches so it's unknown what the new indoor area is used. The day beds are new to this class but as far as we know this remains a crew only area. From an infrequent suite sail away party on Anthem: The openings seen here on Anthem don't exist on the latest Quantum Ultra ships. It's not known what this now indoor area is used for on Spectrum or Odyssey.
  2. Technically it's a winchpad since helicopters can't land on Quantum class ships.
  3. It's a crew only area. Looks like the covered beds are to give crew an outdoor area they can visit without mingling with guests.
  4. Why can’t you trust atoms? They make up everything.
  5. in other words history repeats itself and we never learn. The difference now is allowing a government to shutdown just one industry while allowing all other related industries a free pass. The 1398 equivalent would be like saying "ship rats are no good, land rats are welcome into the city!"
  6. The role of a public health agency to possess this level of power and authority over a single industry has to be reviewed before Congress. That won't likely happen in time for this pandemic but it has to be corrected before the next one. If the CDC is right then they should have this level of control over so much more. If they are wrong then they shouldn't have this level of control over any industry. Given the voodoo science they are using clearly no sane person would want the CDC having this kind of control over more.
  7. That's one thing in a store where the best they can do is ban you from that store. It's another matter on a plane where it actually breaks a law with all that goes along with breaking laws. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/10/travel/faa-unruly-airline-passenger-fines.html#:~:text=Four people are facing nearly, the skies with the easing Four people are facing nearly $70,000 in civil fines for clashing with airline crews over mask requirements and other safety instructions on recent flights, part of what the Federal Aviation Administration called a “disturbing increase” in the number of unruly passengers who have returned to the skies with the easing of pandemic restrictions.
  8. Royal is still booking cruises from Haifa right now. Maybe they are transferring crew who have a valid US visa so they can be transferred again to Symphony for when Symphony returns from dry dock in Cadiz. Transfer them from Odyssey to Anthem then transfer them again Anthem to Symphony when Symphony is ready to come back. Crew rumors sometimes are based in fact but the details gets changed along the way until they only have a smidgen of fact left. It would make sense with a US restart becoming closer and closer they'll want all crew with valid US visas to get moved to US based ships.

  10. I suppose the good news is that the CSO is being updated even if it isn't to the degree that we see on land (or anywhere close to that).
  11. Hence Mr. Bayley's carefully chosen words.
  12. At the start of the shutdown I was having them update new bookings as I made or shifted them. That was a lot of work on their part. Then I stopped asking for it to be applied. Once I get close and suspect something will actually sail I'll submit something.
  13. The CDC wants previously infected to get vaccinated so their guidance is going to slant that way.
  14. Oh boy, oh boy!!! “Odyssey will go to Port Canaveral very soon and all crew that doesn’t have U.S. visa will transfer to anthem o/s” the crew member said.
  15. Isn't there some data that a recovered person doesn't have the same level of immunity as a vaccinated person? i.e. - having been infected is not permanent protection from the virus. They seem to cap this form of protection at 90 days. Is there data to the contrary?
  16. Proof of recovery seems like a positive step so long as you have a willing doctor to put it in writing. Or "self-certified statement" - Hmmm.
  17. For simulated voyages, changes below. I can't recall if un-vaccinated were allowed to participate in simulated voyages before. May 14, 2021Clarified screening and laboratory testing requirements for passengers. The cruise ship operator must ensure all volunteer passengers have either: Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using an S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized vaccine or a vaccine product that has received emergency use listing from the World Health Organization (WHO); or If not fully vaccinated, written documentation from a healthcare provider or self-certified statement that the volunteer passenger has no medical conditions that would place the volunteer at high risk for severe COVID-19 as determined through CDC guidance.
  18. Vaccinated can self explore. Not sure this changed. Shore Excursions & Transportation Services Participating in shore excursions and group transportation increases a person’s risk of getting and spreading COVID-19 by bringing people in close contact with others, often for prolonged periods. Additionally, participating in these activities in other communities and countries with high prevalence of COVID-19 further increases the risk of introduction of COVID-19 onto cruise ships. Fully Vaccinated Travelers Cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may advise passengers and crew that—if they are fully vaccinated—they may engage in self-guided or independent exploration during port stops, if they wear a mask while indoors. The cruise ship operator is additionally advised that foreign jurisdictions may have their own requirements.
