Changing Room Assignments Pre-Cruise
twangster replied to PG Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If they booked through a travel agency that is who they should call. If booked direct without a TA then they call direct. -
Serenade of the Seas (Radiance class) White lifeboat cover
twangster replied to levib2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
7520 is in the forward section of the ship. There are no lifeboats in this area. Your balcony is an extended balcony which is longer but the divider does not cover the full length of the balcony. At the railing you will be able to see your neighbors. Some people don’t like this feature but I personally like it. -
Yes. As noted by @CrimsonCruiser

On to the next cruise…Alaska - Flight Query
twangster replied to Scoular's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Congratulations! For your flights I’d suggest pricing it both ways. Airlines have a “multi city” option so it’s pretty easy to price check them using Kayak or Google flights. Air2Sea already knows that it’s multi city so it easy to price them as well. I’m booked on Serenade from Vancouver followed by Quantum with a night in a hotel in between so I am also flying to Vancouver and out of Seattle. I’m using airline points but I found it better to book both flights as one trip. Sometimes it better to book multi city as two separate flights but not in this case. -
It depends. Not all discounts are combinable so it varies by state, age and C&A status. TA’s shouldn’t be hard to get in touch with. Consider your options for your next cruise.

Port of call protocols are mostly driven by the country being visited. I understand your frustration but venting your frustration towards Royal Is misguided.

Adventure of the seas going to be Amplified?

Personal opinion - not likely. But I've been wrong before. -
What does RC consider as fully vaccinated for kids?
twangster replied to SimonW's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Royal has previously been absolute with the vaccination requirements, i.e. - no leeway or "grandfathering". My expectation is that they will continue with this approach should the vaccination age drop to 5 as a requirement to cruise. For the current 12 year old vaccination requirement: Kids Who Are Turning 12 What if my child is turning 12 years old right before our cruise, or during our cruise, and cannot get vaccinated in time? Any guest that is age 12 or older on boarding day must be fully vaccinated to sail. If your child’s 12th birthday is too close to boarding day to get fully vaccinated, we can move your cruise date to give you more time, or we can cancel your reservation for a full refund. Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions, as our port agreements expect that every vaccine-eligible guest onboard is fully vaccinated. If your child is 11 and turns 12 on Day 2 of the cruise or later, you’re in luck. Your 11 year old will be allowed to board the ship on embarkation day as long as they complete all COVID-19 testing requirements for unvaccinated children. -
Yes and you can ask the porters at the pier to create one on the spot if you want to. I have the $6 amazon luggage tag holders that I use over and over again but that isn't a requirement.

Adventure of the seas going to be Amplified?
twangster replied to smiles998's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Not sure I’d call 18 knots “poking along”. That may be the best top speed for the sea conditions. Other ships crossed at 8-9 knots during the shutdown. -
How rigid are the check-in times for Embarkation?
twangster replied to gugenheimz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
At Port Canaveral they have adjusted the rope matrix outside. There are now a series of queues labelled for various time slots. Those will be opened that will then lead into the rope zig-zag course for entry into the terminal. I arrived 10 minutes after my noon arrival time so I went right into the zig-zag rope course. Still no Suites/Pinnacle queue or entrance at Port Canaveral. -
Wonder of the Seas - Theatre Productions
twangster replied to BMS1971's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
My money is on a Showgirl show like Odyssey. -
Indy (Freedom Class) is a stretched version of Mariner (Voyager class). The ships are very similar but with the extra space on with Indy from being longer she has a dedicated Sorrento's for Pizza and a larger and better Playmakers. Indy also has the broadway show "Grease" where as Voyager class do not have broadway shows, just Royal Caribbean original productions. Subtle differences in some venues. Mariner has a Bamboo Room for example. Indy also has the new satellite technology with O3b Voom. Voyager class do not and use the older legacy satellite technology. I've sailed both and I'm on Indy right now. Both are great ships. Both will provide a similar experience overall.

Looking for a travel insurance recomendation.
twangster replied to AHollyS's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I do annual policies from Allianz. Covers all trips, not just cruises and it's a one time per year fee. Pricing can vary by state since insurance is controlled at the state level in the US. Also you need to buy coverage for what's important to you. Like car, house, health, dental and life insurance there is no one coverage that fits everyone. -
I've always declared everything with USCBP because if you don't and get caught once you are red flagged and will be in secondary screening on all future border crossings. However with facial recognition used at many cruise ports now you are never asked if you have anything to declare. TABC is another matter. I don't buy alcohol on cruise from Galveston because of it. Even if transiting through Texes you are supposed to declare it and screw that. I always have cruises booking from Florida so it's just easier not buying booze on Texas cruises.

Royal has a history of this. One example is the Oasis Bar on Enchantment.

As much as I love my pets, past and present, there is something liberating about leaving them safely on land while on vacation. Not sure I’d want to bring them on a vacation by air or sea.

What drinks included on a cruise?
twangster replied to Naughtyangel78's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
There is also typically a juice available in the Windjammer like lemonade or orange juice at breakfast. Start here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/getting-started -

One time it was 3 days later but a couple of weeks is more typical. I think they say 30 days but that seems to be an automatic response to just about everything.
