  1. After all that is said, I can honestly say that the changes will be interesting to see over time! Been there quite a few times in the past few years and while we have had a nice time there, we would enjoy seeing something else besides Atlantis. Once they make more changes to the port I can say that we will start to venture more off of the ship to see the local culture. I firmly believe that a change should have been made a long time ago. It is way too congested in that gated area when you first get off of the ship!
  2. ABSOLUTELY the truth, I know they say that you get free stuff but the quality of things that you will get for free are on par with things that you get out of a bubble gum machine....not worth the time that you spend in there!
  3. We used to bring water on every cruise then I got tired of toting it around the ship. I do like my water cold and with the advent of the YETI tumbler, and bottles I now can fill that monster up at my leisure and keep my stuff cold all day long. There are filling stations around the ship in various venues, the main thing to remember is that you can not fill your bottle directly from the filling station, you have to use a cup then transfer the water and ice to your bottle.
  4. We went to Roatan a few years ago and did not feel as if we were in danger. I am not security or a police officer however I do "rub elbows" with police officers on a daily basis and have several friends as well. When on vacation I do not let my guard down, and am cognizant of where I am at and what is going on around me. That being said I did not feel any more or less in danger than I have felt at other ports. I would gladly return, and hope to go back sometime in the near future! We did not book our excursion through someone there but booked through RCCL. We did the SNUBA and actually had a great time, it is one that I would GLADLY do again!
  5. I have done both, usually it is only with water though, I place it in a rolling carry on bag and roll it around until the rooms open up at 1. They may cut open your pack and shake a few bottles to see if it is alcohol or not. That is the reason why I place it in a carry on bag because if they cut your pack it instantly becomes harder to carry the case. Once its cut I place everything in the carry on and proceed through checking in. In 9 cruises we have yet to have any issues getting a reasonable amount of either water or soda on the ship, we now just carry a YETI and fill it with water and ice at places onboard. We all have one that we carry in our bags and find that it is much easier than a case of water. Enjoy your cruise!!?
  6. Yes it is! Enjoy! We have one booked for March 30, on Anthem going to Port Canaveral, Nassau, and CocoCay I can assure you that we will be staying onboard in Nassau, just because it is the 5th time we have been there and just want to enjoy the ship! And yes we will be lounging by the pool while in port! Enjoy your cruise!!?
  7. I say that you start prepping your body now for all of the great food that it is about to receive, that way it does not go into shock!!!?
  8. I am one that will choose to agree, you will find many that say that they do not check them at the terminal when you get off the ship. Unfortunately you can not plan your life in advance and therefore do not know when you will need them or not. What if someone gets injured or sick? What if something happens during your shore excursion and your are late back to the ship, I do know that RCCL says that they will wait but what if they decide that its better just to leave and fly you to the next port? I know that some will say that all you need is a photocopy, but to that I will say when you get pulled over does a police officer ask for a copy of your registration, and a copy of your license? When you pay for something in a store will they accept a copy of your credit card? How about a photocopy of your credentials when you are trying to board a plane within the CONTUS? If you plan on cruising often then it is worth its weight in gold, and I will never leave the ship without them as well as other important documentation.
  9. ABSOLUTELY!! They are on vacation they can eat from whatever menu that they decide is better for them! Shoot they can even order off both if they wanted to!
  10. We ALWAYS head back to the ship a little early, and keep an eye on the time. We usually book a balcony room and end up getting lucky enough to be on the side of the ship facing the dock. We get back about an hour or two early and watch the runners, we both understand that although we are on vacation, the crew is at work and still have a schedule to attend to. I can tell you that if I was the cause of us being late that she would rip me a new one, and if she was the reason we were left I would never let her hear the end of it. So we both agree to get back early, hit the Windjammer, and then shower and watch the runners. Some things just are NOT worth it!!!!!
  11. If you are going to be bringing water I would honestly just bring what you need when you get on the ship, I have brought a case of 24 without any problems. Once again I have to agree with @twangster and say that I would not try and bring it on halfway through the cruise. I would bet good money that you would be setting yourself up for disappointment on that one!
  12. Either way I am sure that it will be FAR out of my price range! Although retirement is coming.......?
  13. Have to agree with @twangster on this one, if you search the boards you will find that this very subject has been debated to death. It is our preference to carry them anytime we are outside of USA, just in case. It almost comes to a "what if" scenario at times but lets just say that "what if" is what the wife and I specialize in at our jobs so we always try to prepare for the worst case scenario. You never can plan an illness or an injury and never know when you may need the appropriate documentation. Few years ago we were in Belize doing an excursion in Belize, tubing through the caves (Darknight I believe it was) and we also went through the forrest in the mountains. It was an amazing adventure, on the forrest portion we were climbing up a trail and all of a sudden we heard some screaming coming from the group about a tenth of a mile behind us. Come to find out once we got to the end someone in the group behind us slipped on the trail and went over the side of the trail and fell about 30 feet. Something that I guarantee you nobody in his group planned on! If they did not have the appropriate paperwork with them it would have been more of a pain than if they did. I always carry our passports, as well as our trip and health insurance information with me when I leave the ship and go on foreign soil. Birth certificate may be enough for the ship but will not help you in another country and will add a frustration to an already frustrating situation.
  14. If you shop around you may surprise yourself! Not sure what your work schedule is, or when you are able to sail but we have found some reasonably priced Jr Suites for not a lot extra. Granted they do not come with all of the benefits of a "real" suite but it will get you double cruise points and get you up the C&A ladder faster. We have twins and are not able to afford much more than a Jr and even then it isn't that often, only when the price is right. Although I do have to agree with most that if it was between a suite or an ocean view and not going at all we will GLADLY take the ocean view and set sail!
  15. That’s going to be one that’s hard to answer. I know that you are not SUPPOSED to take fruit off of the ship, and that fruit is not allowed back onboard. You will find trash cans set up as you go through customs. But I’ve also found that I’ve seen some make it through customs without issues. We know the rules and adhere to them, I’m too much of a worry wart to try and work my way around the rules.
  16. ? is pretty much right on! As has already been stated it changes a little bit (not much) from ship to ship but what is posted is right on. Even if they want something that is not on that menu that they like you can still request it, especially if you know that the kids will eat that dish every night and they will be more than happy to accommodate you! Enjoy your cruise!!
  17. We only book a suite at this point of time and only a Jr when the price is right, for our cruise last year to Alaska it was only a $700 upgrade, for our cruise this March it was less than a $600 difference. I feel that if staying in a suite is cheaper than booking another cruise then it is worth the cost in order to get the double points, there is not much of a service difference between that and a balcony. Once we get to Diamond level that may change but at this point I enjoy having more cash in my pocket and doing other things vs the suite privileges. I know that will change as time goes on, especially once I find a room that is better than a Jr suite that is financially responsible. Once we have made the change I know that it will be hard to go back down in class! Just enjoy the cruise itself and don't sweat the suite, unless it is what you really want! As I have already said elsewhere, my worst day at sea is still FAR better than my best day at work!!?
  18. Order a second piece and send it over here please!!! Hopefully that tasted as good as it looked!
  19. Good video thanks for sharing! Haven't had any delays due to fog yet, and hopefully I will continue to get "lucky."
  20. I would have to say that if they did have that train ride then I would GLADLY take it! Although I know that it would be hard to fall asleep during certain parts of the ride for fear of missing out on some of the absolutely beautiful scenery! ?
  21. Sorry to hear about your bad luck? Is there not another sailing that is close to your sail date?
  22. TA is definitely on the right track, we have twins and the wife has primary custody and they share her name. When we got the passports and sailed on our first cruise with them we had to get permission from the father before we were allowed to sail.
  23. I have worn shorts in the MDR at dinner, definitely not on formal night, but on a normal night, I did not wear a t-shirt with them but wore a collared shirt and have not had any issues. After the few cruises that I have been on, I have come to the reality that as long as it is clean, and is something that MOST would wear out to dinner or on a date then it will be accepted in the MDR. Unless it is the first night I stay away from a t-shirt and shorts, and go in looking presentable and have not had a problem yet!
