Sounds like you'd have the option of either one!

Some good places we ate in San Juan as ideas:

    - Greengo's - Mexican food, great happy hour from 4 - 7 PM ($2.50 Corona/Corona Light & Tequila Shots, $5 Margs)

    - Barrachina - Puerto Rican food, creator of the Pina Colada - soo good!

    - Vaca Brava - Puerto Rican food, lots of seating for large groups

Thank you, Kayla! I'm probably going to play it by ear that day, and may or may not return to the ship for dinner. I'm cruising solo for both of my next cruises, so I'll have the advantage of my own itinerary :) I really want to maximize my time in San Juan, as this is my first ever port visit.

  2. Not to hijack @JLMoran's great thread, but my December cruise on Adventure is scheduled for a late (1 pm) port arrival and departure (9 pm). I'm really excited to explore this great city on foot on my own, but I'm wondering how this will impact my early seating dinner in the MDR. What do people usually do? Do they skip MDR and eat dinner in San Juan?

    Thanks ahead in advance!

I just met him today, right before disembarkation.  We happened to sit down next to him in the Centrum.

Awesome, thanks for the update! @mpoole3 sounds like a lovely man, I really enjoy following his Periscope broadcasts :)

Are you staying on for a B2B?

Greetings! Please help! I'm looking for a recent Cruise Compass, with the same itinerary as our 4/28/18 Adventure cruise out of San Juan. We have 2 sea days on days 2 & 5. Any help will be appreciated, as we are trying to book dining, etc. for our family reunion/50th anniversary cruise!

    Many Thanks???

Matt already answered your question, but I just wanted to add that @KLAconQueso just returned from an Adventure sailing from San Juan. She wrote a great trip report with tons of photos, check it out here :)

I hope they are worth it....I know my only experience in one, I wish I had paid the extra $150 difference for the cruise for a regular room AND would have received double CA points...

BUT, if your not into the points...then there was nothing wrong with the room at all.

I have seen studio rooms more expensive than a inside room so have to be careful.

Thankfully, the studio staterooms for my two cruises were much cheaper than standard staterooms.

8 night EC on Adventure (Dec 8th, 2018): paid $951 Cdn with taxes and port fees for studio interior

    Current price for interior:

(My category has since sold out and TA told me not to anticipate a price drop.)

8 night WC on Harmony (Dec 8th, 2019): paid $1335 Cdn with taxes and port fees for studio ocean view (only $100 difference between studios interior and OV, so YOLO book it I did :D)

Current price for interior (standard OV are not populating for me):

Your point is definitely worth taking into consideration, but, given a choice between price and double C&A points, I would go with the price. (I thought the cost difference between the two studio categories was minimal, hence my booking OV over interior.)

My review of the MSC Meraviglia will air on Cruise Radio next week (March 8th).

I really did enjoy my cruise on MSC and have no complaints with regards to the ports and the price we paid. We also received excellent perks by status matching with our Royal Caribbean status. For a week, their new ships are quite nice and quite comparable to Royal's newest builds. There are just fewer complimentary activities onboard. In addition, since this was a winter cruise, we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the ropes course or the water slides, which would add to the overall experience.

That's awesome news, Doc! I will be sure to check it out, thanks for the heads-up :)

@accio7.....that's awesome...love seeing stuff like that!

    Aw, thank you!

Unfortunately I did not take a ton of photos of the ship and around the ship, majority of them were taken with people I met onboard LOL. This will all change when I do my live blog on Adventure much later this year :)

Oh, and if you want a recent review of MSC Seaside, listen to the latest "bonus" episode of CruiseRadio's podcast. You can also go onto YouTube and search "JimZim MSC Seaside"; he gave a couple of video reviews and those link to a lengthy written review where he actually does make comparisons against the other domestic lines, including Royal. But take his review with a grain of salt, as some of his comments on the food and some other aspects left a few of us here thinking that some things he found dislikable would actually be totally fine for us.

Here’s a link to the podcast episode: https://player.fm/series/series-52225/bonus-010-msc-seaside-review-msc-cruises

Cruise Radio is probably my second fave cruising podcast (after @Matt‘s, of course :P).
