  1. I don't know of a way to filter like that. I do know more ships have them now though. There were a lot of studio rooms on my Harmony - you can use a cruise deck plan site to look for them. I think Harmony had about 10-15. I'm pretty sure more are popping up on older ships too. I booked a studio room, I'm going with a ton of people and I rarely like to share a room unless it's with a significant other or one particular friend who has been a travel buddy for over 15 years. It was expensive - about what was posted - but worth it for me. I love people but I also love my alone time. It was share a room with 2 others, I'm WAY too old for that or go on my own.
  2. My two cents - I booked almost 11 months out - I'm sorta nuts and constantly check the site and not one time has it been less than when I originally booked. I booked a solo studio and it's $400 more now than when booked. I know there are great deals on ships sometimes but maybe since I'm on Harmony I've missed out.
  3. It is! I've left from NJ and it was very choppy - once we made it further down the atlantic it was perfect.
  4. Last cruise I had a balcony and most days I'd get lunch or a snack from the Windjammer and go out on the balcony.
  5. Too bad it's in poor taste to bring some form of tupperware. I trip and spill easily.
  6. To ensure everyone gets something, in my opinion, prepay. There is a lot of debating on this but it seems this is how you cover all bases. If you so choose give any extra you want to to whomever deserves it. I'm not sure anyone knows exactly it's divided past what has been already shown here. The tipping system is pretty crappy as it is - this seems to at least reach who it's supposed to reach. Also - if you planned on giving those exact amounts in envelopes it's easier to prepay and let the them divide your tip and give it to the appropriate parties. Who want to hunt people down on a trip.
  7. I added my gratuities when I booked last August but won't be paid in full until April for a July cruise - I must have been grandfathered in since the charges never changed.
  8. I was added to my friend's reservation so I was able to board with her - even though I was new to royal.
  9. Mine's already changed...gone was the 4 days or less for $39 to 5 to 7 days for $79. Still no pic and when you click on it you still can't choose anything yet. Their IT roll out system is weird.
  10. You will follow the plan, including buffers for setbacks. You will be okay. To add to your what ifs- what if it isn't as bad as you think? We will all think positive for you. (just happened to my closest friend- was prepared for this MAJOR surgery- turns out she actually needed a much less intense surgery and is already on her way better)
  11. It's doable. I'm gluten and casein (in dairy) intolerant - and since only intolerant I indulge (not everyday) anyway. I pay the price but it's not like someone who has celiac's where it's not an option.
  12. I'll take a reduced risk. Hell, I'll take a placebo effect.
  13. you learn a lot after the experience. I do know that most hand sanitizers/wipes don't work against norovirus. I feel like someone posted the brand that is supposed to work.
  14. I 100% get where you're coming from but this is my reality.
  15. Normal in my industry. 1-3 years. Are we sure the employees have to purchase anything?- as in, does it come out of their pocket? Or is it just that they have no choice. Don't get me wrong - I'd rather a cash bonus but this is the norm in my industry. While it doesn't seem to be the best - free money is free money and it's a way to make the employee stay in the company - an incentive. If my company does extra it'll come to us through our 401k. I think I'm okay with this. I get it's not ideal but I think I'm looking at it from a different perspective since it seems very normal in the two major companies I've worked in my adult life.
  16. What kind of room do you have? I'm always curious about solo traveling. I have my first solo room ever this summer.
  17. I only travel to Europe every few years - the last time was 2 and a half years ago. I paid somewhere in the realm of $600 (NYC to London Virgin Atlantic), I don't remember exact amount. We booked our tour first then watched hotels 6 months out and bought tickets about 3-4 months out. I do this for every trip - I look up initially and monitor until it seems it's good and then I buy. I seem to have a three month threshold - anything more than that makes me anxious but some on this site have had more luck. I'm a crappy gambler.
  18. Love all of this - the pictures, the food, the info. Thank you.
  19. I feel like they used to offer more free classes...I've never taken a class because their gym was really good (clean, lots of current machines) so I can't be sure. I get the whole business aspect of it but it's just another charge.
  20. If you're a drinker, yes. Premium coffee included (I'm a coffee drinker, didn't like the free stuff), bottled water, fresh juice, sodas $42 is awesome.
  21. 1- only time I actually watch the commercials. 2- I work in tv. It's likely that since they are broadcasting to a large audience the commercials can be seen as being endorsed by Royal Caribbean. Another - how they get the actual feed, the feed they get may just be the live broadcast without the commercials.
  22. It's on my Cruise Planner - $39.00 for 4 days or less. (Harmony 7/7) There's weirdly no picture and the text cuts off. "Sign up for unlimited fitness class access including Yoga, Pilates and Indoor". That's all. From what I've seen there is a $12 charge for classes so I guess only if you're going to take enough classes to save you money it's worth it. The rest of the gym use is free.
  23. Dangerous. I see myself being the weirdo who needs to try things. I'm not even a big soda drinker.
