  1. @Linda G Cab or Lyft/Uber. I suggest Lyft/Uber so you know the price before you go. Unless you're actually staying in Staten Island there is no need to take the ferry. There should be cabs lined up both ways and you will not be the only person taking a cab.
  2. If I'm supposed to dress up, I will. If it's formal night and and I'm not in the mood to wear a dress and I have nice pants and a top on, so be it. My travel mate last time took formal night to another level - it was a borderline costume - she looked beautiful. I, on the other hand, had a little black dress on. Nothing fancy. I'd prefer people to put a little effort for the overall feel of the night BUT, at the end of the day, you do do. Mr-I'm-Wearing-Shorts is not ruining my night or my experience. I judge others on manners not their clothing on a vacation.
  3. Would it be possible to re-tailor the pants? It would be an expense but less than a whole new suit and then the suits would be more current for any occasion.
  4. Nope! It sounds like it's entirely possible. Let us know how the zipline goes!!!!!!
  5. I have 3 millenials currently working under me and I'll tell you all three were raised right and do not have the stereotypical Millenial traits. Out of Five in the last few years - 1 has been stereotypical....just like I'm not a lazy Gen X'er and never was and neither are my friends. I'll leave that there.
  6. I'd love to be waited on hand and foot. What age does that happen at?
  7. My closest friend is a vegetarian and has cruised multiple times on RC - she's very happy with the selection. She does eat fish though, so I'm not sure if that counts for you.
  8. With the sale - the drink package makes sense for me. I hated the free coffee and drink a fair amount of it - on a cruise at least 2 a day maybe one more in afternoon. I'm lazy on my vacation and while I'll fill up my cup occasionally I like bottled water. I love seltzer and will drink water/seltzer all day. I will have at least 3 cocktails a day - I have a lower tolerance so this is spread out throughout the day and night. Personally, I avoid sugary drinks besides wine and above said tolerance for alcohol makes a glass or two at most. For me and everyone else though - not sure many care about sugary drinks while on vacation. Most people don't drink that much on a normal week and this is vacation. Enjoy. Live. Eat the sugar. Or don't.
  9. Great review. You may come to love Sea Days now that you know exactly what you're in for. Those are the days that you actually relax from whatever stressors in life and they prepare you for port days. Nothing like sleeping in, a leisurely breakfast, a (lot) of cocktail(s), a beach chair, another (lot of) cocktail(s), pool time, napping...there's so much to do on the ship. :)
  10. Me too! I'm on that date and am the unofficial planner for a large group.
  11. Apologies for offending you or anyone here. I may have wrongly assumed it was a drunken thing. I would never tell anyone to lighten up but I would also not chastise someone online. Mods - if you'd like to delete this thread please go ahead, I'm not here to offend.
  12. http://abc7ny.com/coast-guard-searching-for-man-who-jumped-from-cruise-ship/3340208/ My first though is dummy. My second is I hope he's okay and it wasn't a depression thing. My third is I wonder if he had the drink package.
  13. I'm so happy to hear your wife trained for it...it validates my experience. I remember feeling awful about myself - I'm never a quitter and I could not finish. I run slow, but several times a week and I had such a hard time. One really good thing came out of it...my friend decided early on she was going to enjoy it, she was so slow a guide had to stay with her. She took her time and looked at everything, took pictures, very leisurely. By the time I met up with her I was full blown soaked in my own sweat and she was fine....and happy. I actually enjoyed the rest of the walk because I finally took on her attitude.
  14. You're not crazy to travel alone at all.
  15. Gotcha. Mine finally came up a few days ago. There's a link for eDoc but nothing to click. This is the clunkiest rollout I've ever witnessed.
  16. I use Chrome - Incognito and this link https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/mycruises/processLogin.do and I get the old site. The days (87!) just started showing up on the new version.
  17. Because of this blog I'm actually looking for a cruise for by myself for the first time. Just trying to weigh the odds.
  18. I was going to say I wasn't too familiar with the area but looked it up and Branchinelli's came up. Reallllllllllllllllllly good pizza and food. Not sure how close that is to the hotel though.
  19. That sounds like a "sorry not sorry" phone call. That's awful customer service on his part.
  20. VERY smart - I did that volcano hike - thought my heart was gonna explode out of my chest. I had to quit halfway through and just walk at my own pace. They lied about hiking. Hiking and running are two different things. At least the description is more accurate now. It's for genuine athletes...or people who can run vertically.
