mbk999 got a reaction from RestingBird in New announcement coming
I hope that is the case, allowing everyone the opportunity to "cruise the way you want to cruise" While I would like to explore the new stuff, I also would like a quiet relaxation spot too.

I'm assuming they all have shuttles but we rented a car from Avis (airport location) and the shuttle picks up from the port. Drop off right at FLL. A nearby possibility is http://www.vizcaya.org/ I have never been but know some people who raved about it, although their kids are middle school girls.

It must warp the mirror too...

It's a little old school but the Schooner Bar's Sidecar was a new favorite.

In the words of our CD, Clo, no worries, "it's the sea air that shrinks your clothes" ?

mbk999 got a reaction from diesel2512 in Help Me- RC newby. Sailing Allure. Totally confused and overwhelmed.
You can do My Time Dining and make reservations (for times) ahead of the cruise. 6:30 one night, 7:00 another night, etc. We like the MDR just fine. I've occasionally had something that I didn't care for, but I just ordered something else. As someone stated, if you're a gourmet or foodie, you might not think it's great but it's certainly not bad.

Your ship may be bigger and newer, but I can go on the helipad anytime I want
na-na na-na boo-boo
EDIT - And... I have a water slides. Now excuse me while go up to the Diamond lounge, roll down a window and ask someone in the Allure suite lounge if they have some Grey Poupon.

I can't break my wife of it. It's the first pre-set in her car and it is the background noise in the house.

Margaritaville is a standard channel for us, pre and post cruise.

I guess this would impact the other thread about transportation to and from the port. If you fly in early enough the day before, do the car rental and explore Orlando (City Walk at Universal, Disney Springs at Disney) or head over to Port Canaveral and stay over there. If you fly in later in the afternoon/early evening, there's a Hyatt Regency in the Orlando airport is actually a nice hotel. If you arrive at a time where you would be simply driving to a hotel to sleep anyway, staying directly at the airport is an option. That puts the Royal Caribbean shuttle back into play the next morning.

Thumbs up on the disconnect from the world comment. I think that's one of the best parts of cruising.
Not to hijack the thread, but it's still watch related. What is it with cruises and watch sales? Granted it had been awhile for us between cruises but when we were on the Enchantment, ads for watches were everywhere, watch sales abound, etc. It just puzzled us.

mbk999 got a reaction from June May in My Time Dining
This was our experience on the Enchantment (albeit it was only for 2). I made reservations 3 of the 4 nights, requested a table for two. On embarkation, we went to the MDR to confirm times, table for two and said we'd prefer the same wait staff and a table by the window. At the end of dinner on the first night, we let the waiter know we would be at Chops for Day 2, but back for days 3 & 4. Showed up for Day 3 and the waiter and made notes or our previous drink order and just verified it, on Day 4 he just went and got them. And we had the same table every night. There was some variation on the people around us but we saw the same people at the adjacent tables on Days 3 and 4

mbk999 got a reaction from RestingBird in Looking for Info on Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa
Thanks to all for the information. My plan to sneak away for a quick cruise was scuttled by wife's pre MLK holiday work schedule that wasn't as flexible as I had hoped (the downside of being in the education field). Sailing out of Tampa is still on my list, but sadly it will still remain for now.

MBK999,
Tampa airport is about 10 minutes away from the port. Cab should only be less than $20. with tip. Hope this helps.

mbk999 got a reaction from RestingBird in Fresh squeezed OJ
I think it was $3 on the Enchantment back in April ($3 or $5 all about the same in the end). They couldn't make it fast enough in the Windjammer. The conops was to walk around with pitchers and ask people if they'd like some but people were just lining up at the juicer station. I'm not a huge OJ guy but it was really good.

mbk999 got a reaction from KLA in Thoughts from my Allure B2B Honeymoon
Welcome back and congrats! Thanks for the stray thoughts on the Allure (we are sailing in Oct for our 25th). I had read and listened to lots of posts about being disconnected to the sea so we booked an ocean facing balcony as one of my favorite stress releases is watching the ocean water go by on the sea days. I'm curious about comment #2 on not booking again for just a week. I'm guessing that's because there's just too much to do and you can't fit it all in.

mbk999 got a reaction from DocLC in Drink package and exemptions
worked out fine in April. If I broke out the spreadsheet and looked at it per drink, might save $50 for the week by not getting it. But then I'd just be keeping a mental calculation going in my head and I'm trying to purge as much stress as possible while on-board.
