  1. I would imagine one reason for lift and shift was to get people off these late summer/fall cruises to reduce capacity. If they still need to reduce the numbers, my guess would be offering a healthy FCC to move. I don’t think they would bump people off. It’s not like the airlines where you can just catch a later flight that day. I think that would really upset people. For those that work, some companies aren’t flexible moving your vacation time. We’ll all have to wait and see....
  2. I never pay my balance until 90 days out. Why give them your money any earlier than you have to?
  3. Speaking with our favorite locals in St Maarten.....that Island was hurting badly after Irma and Maria with no cruise ships for weeks. First time cruise visitors are IMPERATIVE to these islands. Tread lightly Caribbean governments. Although will youREALLY notice the extra $200-$300 in your cruise fare? I will agree with @WAAAYTOOO about developing more private destinations. I’m looking forward to see what they eventually do with Grand Lucayan.
  4. I believe this may be a legitimate reason.
  5. Look what’s headed to Meyer.....saw this in a Facebook group.
  6. I’d like to think this blog may help drive some decisions made by RC. You know there are RC people that read this blog. (Well if they were smart they would! ?) I mean this blog is really the heartbeat of the line. ?
  7. Ok good because now I can just say it was a bad dream! I didn’t really see it! ?
  8. I’m ready to get off this roller coaster. You know RC and NCL will follow suit https://www.worldofcruising.co.uk/carnival-cruise-line-august-sailing-restart-date-delay-passenger-safety-coronavirus/
  9. As always the voice of reason. ?? I’m not on her until October 2021. I feel good about my date. I hope a miracle happens for you @twangster ?
  10. Oh man, if this is the case, I’m barely squeaking in my October 17 Symphony
  11. Well well well.....according to this, she’s on schedule for November? https://cruisearabiaonline.com/2020/06/09/meyer-werft-previews-royal-caribbeans-new-odyssey-of-the-seas-under-construction/
  12. I read this almost a week ago. I’m in about 5 or 6 Royal Caribbean Facebook groups. If I stumble back upon it, I will screenshot it. Right now each of those groups have about 30 posts a day. It would take hours.
  13. I’m in surgical menopause due to stage 4b endometrial cancer. I’m approaching 5 years post total hysterectomy and unfortunately the hot flashes will always be an issue. I wouldn’t trade them though for the alternative ? ? Good luck to you with your treatments! I’m approaching 4 years NED thanks to immunotherapy. Hot Flashers unite!
  14. Sitting in Central Park listening to the music drinking a chocolate martini before bed.
  15. 2 months for me
  16. Not showing yet for my October Symphony. Too far out still
  17. We did Freedom out of San Juan last year. Southern Caribbean
  18. What ship and itinerary is this? I love Aruba and St Maarten is my all time favorite!
  19. Your cruise is actually October 10. (I’m on Symphony on the 17th) The actual cruise should be fine. We have had early October hurricanes here in Florida and Dorian last year wreaked havoc on the ports here. Some ships got extra days at sea, some cruises were shortened because ships couldn’t get back in. Dorian was late August though. Matthew and Micheal were the 2 most recent October storms. So they can happen but *generally* they don’t cause too much trouble for ships unless the home ports are in the path.
  20. But my eyes can’t see what color St Maarten is! ?
  21. I was reading a Facebook post about how RC will be staffing ships and one person posted that a friend who works in one of the shops on Oasis is returning in July. Also read that Headliners are being told to report to their ship August 1. Is it a dream? Is it REALLY going to happen? ? We sail Symphony in October. I’m getting a good feeling! ?? Have already been canceled (May) like thousands of others so trying not to get my hopes up too high, just a little high! Go away you stink’in virus!
  22. I did today. I booked our CP stuff with the 125% OBC during the Memorial Day sale. This new sale I had some price drops so canceled (OBC was put back) and rebooked.
  23. That was my fear today! Our beach club went down from $68 to $58. I was nervous to cancel and rebook for fear by the time I canceled and rebooked it’d be sold out. Luckily it wasn’t.
  24. Hmmm.....not so sure many ports will be opening to cruise ships anytime soon. I’d be happy just to visit Labadee and CocoCay. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. https://www.travelandleisure.com/travel-news/caribbean-islands-opening-travel-coronavirus?fbclid=IwAR2uRnVoDzkSbeEx0X3TcISkY-oTXWifH71fY9D0N94_k3cx7IQfib0GoWY
  25. I posted over in the news and rumors section an article about how the CDC has treated the cruise lines unfairly according to the CEO of Port Canaveral. Further into the post, I posted an article from this morning’s NYT’s how the CDC got so much wrong about this pandemic which includes mention of the no sail order.
