I’m in North Florida. Kids are in Orlando though. Our cases suddenly spiked and all of a sudden, masks appeared! We don’t have nearly the “visitors” y’all have down south. Also have to keep in mind that if you test positive, you have to keep testing until you’re negative. Each positive after your original is ADDED to the positive cases. So our “new” cases could be double or triple of what they actually are. Bottom line: regardless of what the numbers are.....in order to return to any semblance of normal, the cases have to decline whether they’re real or not.

Hmmmm.....I now see how RC will reduce capacity when they sail. All Chads and Karen’s will be canceled! Brilliant!

Everything of value has already been removed from the ships. I’d say they’re going to scrap. I’ve sailed both. Monarch in her inaugural year. They’re not efficient. They’re a drag on the bottom line. One thing this virus has done: eliminate the weak.

With cancellations and lift and shift I would think if they still needed to reduce, they’ll dangle another carrot instead of booting people. 150% FCC? Attractive OBC? I poked around my October Symphony today and there are still several interior cabins open for booking. The majority are forward cabins. Since it’s been somewhat out there that crew will have their own cabins, you’d think they’d pull interior cabins and give those to crew. As always, this is all speculation and we just have to wait and see. Although it’s fun to play the “what’ll they do” game!

Ok so being a Floridian (who’s not on a ventilator by the way ?) if schools are back in session in August and it goes well, we will be sailing in October. At the grocery today everyone had masks on. August is do or die in Florida. The 8 state universities are all starting back in person with social distancing and masks. Public schools too. If we make it through the first 2-3 weeks without a massive spike, we just may sail out of Florida. I’m most interested in how they will reduce capacity on board after all cancellations and Lift and Shift have taken place. Right now there are still many cabins available on my October Symphony

After watching a little of the senate hearings today with Fauci.......one of the big discussions was how important it is for kids to get back to school. If schools open in August in Florida and it goes well, we will be cruising by October. Always the optimist! ?

Agree on sea views for Schooner bar. On Song of America it was all windows. That was back in the day when the Casino was smack in the middle of the ship. You had to walk through the casino to go anywhere. The schooner bar was to one side of the casino and had great views of the water. Also want Viking crown back.

Even though Florida is spiking, it’s the 20-30 age group seeing the most cases. ICU Hospitalizations in my area (Jacksonville) are at a whooping 14. Roughly 35% of cases are asymptomatic. Big spikes in agricultural areas. The media wants you to believe the narrative that we are all hooked up to ventilators and dying in Florida. That is simply not the case. You have to dig into the numbers to see what’s going on. Our deaths continue to decline.

Yeah Florida’s was a joke. They had state troopers on I95 stopping cars from out of state and telling them they had to self quarantine. No follow up, never enforced. Waste of resources.

Hope to see you on board! Be aware though.....it may just be CocoCay. On my countdown page on the website, the itinerary has disappeared (st Thomas, st Maarten) and only CocoCay remains. When I go into the app, same thing. Now I can go into excursions in the planner and still book excursions for those ports but I have this feeling we may have 6 sea days and a stop at CocoCay. Just be prepared that might happen. I’m fine with that as oasis class has so much to do I’m not worried about getting bored.

So this morning my October Symphony is active on the app. When I first opened it, it said next port St Maarten. I moved around the app, looked at the supposed “e-muster” deck plans etc. Then I noticed my dates were wrong. Had September 26-October 7. So I clicked on choose another sailing and it brought me back to the home page. There was my correct Symphony and next year’s Odyssey. I clicked on the Symphony and the page that opened was only Day 7 CocoCay. Won’t allow you to see any other days. So my guess is: 7 night with only CocoCay. I’m fine with that however I’d prefer for CocoCay to be in the middle of the week but I won’t complain! Still not confident we will even sail though unless this virus just burns itself out in the next month. Unlikely though.

No tendering even on Oasis class. (Well technically they don’t tender off Oasis Class.) We just did this on Freedom last year. No problem. I know all these can take Freedom class and I would imagine Quantum too. Tendering is a pain in the butt! I would think the teen would be most concerned about Internet ?

I can’t lift and shift because I already have Odyssey booked for Italy/Greece October 2021. We’re using FCC for this October Symphony so if it cancels, we’ll just apply to Odyssey. We may even try and jump on Mariner May of 2021 after our daughter’s wedding in Orlando. Our FCC was quite large as it was a JS on Symphony for this past May. That FCC was enough to cover our October Symphony and all but $300 of our Odyssey.

Carnival and NCL have now canceled through September 30. My October 17 Symphony is definitely not looking promising

Yeah probably the same person that posted on Facebook yesterday. That’s when I went I looked at mine.

So this happened PRIOR to the new suspension of September 15........ My itinerary for October Symphony now only says Perfect Day CocoCay. St Thomas and St Maarten were removed. The ports still show in the excursions in the planner and if I do a mock booking, but on my blue page (countdown page) they’re gone. All ports still showing for my 2021 Odyssey though. Anyone else have their Caribbean ports disappear? Were they really planning just private islands stops in the restart? Hmmmm.....

Ok I’ll throw someone a life jacket ? ........ We will cruise when foreign ports open. Remember, the US are not the only ports in the world. Royal sails out of several foreign ports. I’ll be curious if any non CLIA lines will start up sooner in Europe. (If there are any!) The suspension is for vessels over 250 passengers. I think these river cruises are still a go, in the US and Europe. They’re the guinea pigs in this. I’ll ask my friend who’s a hotel director for American Queen. From what he said the other day, they are still starting up July and August. Although with the recent spike in cases, they may extend as well. I realize it’s on a miniature scale but I’m sure the big guys will be paying attention to how they’re doing. Im going to continue to hold onto that sliver of hope my mid October Symphony is a go. It replaces my canceled May. Our FCC’s will fully pay that October cruise and all but $300 of our Italy/Greece Odyssey in 2021. I just hope the lines can hold out a little bit longer.
