  3. 5 Days to go....... Slight shenanigans update. I love my mother, but she has doesn't listen syndrome. She is always brand new, as if she was a baby and never seen or heard of anything. My mother has eliminated her pile, she called me all proud yesterday and said she finished packing. I was like cool . Then she was like "I like 5-day cruises but the 7n ones are better." I was like I agree, 7n cruises are a sweet spot, especially if you can add another one or two smaller ones. Then she goes "I wish this one was 7n" and I was like.........technically it is . She was like this is only 5n and I was nope. It's a connection of 3 smaller cruises and your two add up to 7 days. Brand new. She was floored that we were going for 7n and had only packed for 5, so now she has to repack. Yet.......she knew she was going to be gone from Monday-Monday, so the math is not mathing. I know my mother; she would have shown up with 29 pairs of underwear and 5 days' worth of clothes I feel like I create cruise fever at my job. I tell someone I won't be fully available because I am going to cruise. Then I find out some more people are going to cruise around the same time. Two of my co-workers are leaving tomorrow for Icon, I am so jelly. I really hope for their sake they don't have the pools closed for poop like the current sailing.
  4. I should have said smaller airports for the larger cities. I would fly into EWR when I am going to NY, the same way I fly into LGB for LA sometimes and definitely FLL over MIA. I haven't been in years, and I know there has been some remodeling for EWR. ORD is also a united hub and the flights to EWR are still decently priced, but cruises are limited from port Liberty.
  5. El Morro is amazing, and the cathedral of San Juan Bautista is interesting. if possible, I’d love for someone to post daily compasses or put them in the cruise compass section. I sail june 2! Jane
  6. Oh I just love when a know-it-all is wrong. That is some good people watching, the looks on people's faces when they get schooled.......chef's kiss.
  7. I noticed on Wonder the lamb wellington was small, tiny. I too had the shot rib, so I was full but man I remember it being 3x that size both times I was on Harmony and double that on Allure a few months earlier.
  8. Yes, I will have purple hair and mostly in the casino. Also, slightly jealous that you are doing Icon. I regret cancelling it because the pricing became insane.
  9. They are for the current sailing, that is why they populate in the app. But yes, the app has many issues, I wouldn't trust anything unless I was within a week or less from sailing. So many factors can change.
  10. That makes it hard. We are pushed way back this year for construction. My district is in the northwest suburbs, and my husband teaches in the southern ones. We can’t predict when our spring breaks will line up…it seems about 50/50. We are at the mercy of when the school calendars release, and my district is usually only a year at most ahead. Jane
  11. As a Canadian who lives in the middle of Canada (Winnipeg Manitoba to be specific) I consider it a great deal if I can get to Florida for less than $1000 cad. I am a teacher so fly during peak times and hate winter highway driving so will not drive to North Dakota for a flight in the winter.
  12. well, I’m planning on sticking it out for the trip in August. So assuming I do, I’ll let you know! Booked the inaugural on the star with an ocean view balcony... So I figured that would make up for it if I miss the balcony life!
  13. i agree that FLL is a dink dink* airport BUT it is always easy to navigate and clean. (my thoughts on that other florida airport are WELL documented ) but i wouldn’t necessarily consider EWR a smaller airport? …oh but united is my airline and EWR is a united hub. so it might be smaller for southwest and other non-united flights. but i agree with everyone; flights are insane. we usually use points or a combo of points and $$ to offset the cost a bit. (* an asquared17 term for small/tiny)
  14. The room steward takes them at the next cleaning.
  15. I have been debating this same decision when looking into a potential Icon sailing in January. It will just be my wife and I so perhaps the Grove area along with access to CK might be worth it. I'm pretty torn honestly, we'll have an Oceanview Junior Suite on Symphony in November so it might be nice to try something different with the additional perks...
  16. Apparently it's a brand new port they've built in Southern DR close to the Haiti border. Not much infrastructure there yet but they will be building it up over the next couple years.
  17. I just received an email from my TA saying Royal is adding a port stop on my October 11th to October 19th 2024 8 night S. Caribbean and Perfect Day cruise. in the email it said this will be the first time a Royal ship has stopped here.
  18. I did the same — booked two Surfside family suites when Icon bookings first opened to take advantage of the suite benefits, but as we’ve gotten closer (our sailing is in August) the FOMO has worn off and I’ve been starting to think more and more that the suite benefits aren’t worth it especially at the high price point and lack of ocean view and connecting doors. We’d probably feel the need to go out of our way to utilise the benefits when we’d rather be exploring the various areas of the ship. Finally made decision yesterday to downgrade to two connecting ocean view balconies. Ended up saving £3.5k. I’ve never been happier with a decision to downgrade from suite class before. The balcony prices seem to have come down a bit too from a few months ago because the last time I checked there hadn’t been much of a price savings to make downgrading worth it. In our case we have young kids so the tot town location isn’t bad per say, but at the same rate having the kids makes it harder to take advantage of the suite benefits (for example they will be bored by the suite pool and are too fussy for CC breakfasts etc).
  19. Celebrity Beyond in April of 2026. Going to Nassau, Tortola & Antigua. I guess that's considered Eastern Caribbean.
  20. Understood but my point was that was never their official customer service method, it was their social media team going above and beyond. It probably got overused and was never designed for support so that's why it stopped. The official support method can be found here. Better yet, use a travel agent! https://www.royalcaribbean.com/resources/contact-us
  21. I sailed Rhapsody out of PR in January of ‘98 when she was less than a year old. Had a great time, we stopped at Aruba, Curacao, St Maarten and St Thomas.
  22. This makes me wonder…. Why populate them in the app then if what you are seeing isn’t accurate but what I’ve learned in the past month or so…. The app is not without many, many issues!
  23. We always take our lunch back to the room.
