B2B cruises

Recommended Posts

Here's a question, as I've never done a B2B cruise and was wondering how the process would work.

I assume that if you have the same rooms booked for the B2B no need to pack, What is the procedure for the flip side when you don't have the same room? I assume that you still pack suitcases correct? Do you place them in the hall like standard procedure?

The stateroom attendant will likely transfer your bags to the other room. Your new attendant will try and get the room ready as early as possible. Don't put the bags in the hallway.

The Loyalty Ambassador deals with the turnaround process. There is a consecutive cruisers on the last day of Leg 1, and you will then meet (on HM, it was at the Schooner Bar), as the last guests are leaving. The LA will then take you out to be cleared by customs and then provide you with new SeaPasses before you return to an empty ship. They collect the old SeaPasses but give them back as a souvenir when you head home.

The team on Harmony handled it seamlessly. I don't know what ship you will be on, but hopefully they will be the same.

That is true. I have done it on Serenade, Majesty and Enchantment. The process is very easy. I will be doing it again on Majesty this July.

Make sure Royal knows you are doing a B2B.  Your agent can inform them or if you booked direct, call RC.

You will be presented a letter with instructions the same day that cruisers disembarking will get their disembarking letter.  Typically if you change cabins you should pack your suitcase but leave it in your cabin when you go to the designated meet point on the letter for "Consecutive Cruisers".  On some ships you don't need to pack items hanging in the closet, on some ships you should pack it all - ask your cabin attendant.

Anthem collected our SeaPass cards and did not provide them as souvenirs.  We were escorted off just after the last guests disembarked.  After lining up for customs we were given new SeaPass cards.  Depending when the ship is cleared by local officials, you will board first.  In my most recent case it was around 90 minutes off ship but this is more in the hands of local officials compared to the ship or RC.  I packed my hanging items and had everything in a pile in the center of my cabin.  I left my cabin early so it could be cleaned and prepared for the next guest.  It's quite relaxing watching everyone scurry off while you people watch - great feeling!

Every port and ship is slightly different.  In one case a few years ago I was the only B2B guest and I never left the ship - customs cleared me without seeing me but that is super rare.

I've only done two B2B in my cruising history. Once on Carnival and the other on Royal. In both cases I "lost" my card late the last night on board, oops.

Carnival, same room. Nothing special had to be done the night before. Rest of the details are a blur.

Royal, Oasis in Port Canaveral, changed rooms. Had to pack any loose item in my suitcase. Anything hanging was placed on a luggage cart. Side topic the stateroom attendant managed to get lost heading to the new room to check if it was ready. Had no idea how to get up to deck 17. He was grateful getting to see the suites up there, stated they normally aren't allowed up on that deck. The last day they had a meeting of all the in-transit guests to go over what happens and to book anything for the next sailing. The day of we met in on of the lounges and were escorted off as the last guests and cleared customs and sent back to the waiting area in the terminal. Once in the waiting area we were given our new cards and a card that stated we were in-transit. Boarded as the first group with Pinnacles and Suite guests following a few minutes behind. Was told if needing to get back in the room prior to opening, just say you were in-transit and show the card if needed. Other item of luck, liquor taken from one of the ports was returned the last night of the first sailing.

My luck, both B2B the card from the previous sailing was never taken.
