ScottD
SOOOO... I was being proactive and booked a cheapo hotel in FLL months ago, assuming we would fly in there, then Uber to Miami for the cruise the next day. WELL I just got our flight and the price to fly into Miami was just insanely cheap and I jumped on it. Oh, I forgot to mention the hotel is non refundable. SO I have options... land in Miami, get to Ft Lauderdale, stay in the hotel then get back to Miami in the morning. OR I eat the hotel cost...which really wouldn't bother me since it was so cheap, and find a hotel in Miami, but hotels in Miami for that night are all insanely high. SO if I was to do the back and forth thing, would the Brightline be a good idea? The hotel is in Dania beach, so below the FLL airport. Or do we just Uber up and back- OR at that point would I be better off just putting the Uber money toward a new hotel in Miami. I hope this isn't too confusing and someone has an idea of what would be the best idea. Help me out here
Pattycruise
write down the pros and cons of each way-I personally feel overall cost is a factor. I wouldn’t mind using the Brightline (never have). my mind-lose the money for the cheap hotel PLUS the cost of an expensive Miami hotel….id be learning how to use Brightline! -or Uber! instaGator
@ScottD The Brightline is not convenient for you. The Tri-Rail might work for you, but you will likely still need to Uber to the hotel and then back to the station. Depending on your travel date, one of these three less expensive hotels that are all very close to Miami Metrorail stations might make the decision to flush the cheep FLL hotel a little easier: Springhill Suites Miami Downtown/Medical Center, Courtyard Miami Downtown/Brickell Area, Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown Brickell-Port of Miami. https://www.miamidade.gov/transit/library/metrorail-map.pdf https://www.tri-rail.com/pages/view/system-map ScottD, cruisellama and KristiZ 1
tonyfsu21
Brightline wouldn’t work well as the station is in downtown Fort Lauderdale requiring an Uber back South to Dania. Take an Uber from MIA to Dania and that would be most efficient. ScottD

We just decided to eat the hotel (it was a budget motel and only $110 when I booked it, so not a huge loss) and re-booked a hotel at the North end of the Miami airport for a very good price. They have a free shuttle to get us from the airport to the hotel, so now all we have to worry about is one simple Uber ride to the port in the morning. It was just too much involved, too many Ubers and or trains and lugging stuff around. This just simplified the whole thing, lol. We wanted to get something closer to the port, but hotels are insanely priced over there for the weekend due to a very big, high end art festival in town. teddy, MaryS, USCG Teacher and 3 others

Lucky you found anything even that far from SoBe. ScottD

I'm going to go bid a cool mil on the banana duct taped to the wall... " a six-figure asking price at the Art Basel Miami Beach fair in 2019. The original was created using a banana bought in a Miami grocery store, though the gallery said it could be replaced, as per the artist’s instructions, and it could now be worth $1.5 million" tonyfsu21
