Global Entry - Port of Miami

Recommended Posts

I know only a limited subset of people are interested/enrolled but FYI just off Enchantment on Monday and we were informed that despite the global entry signs around the terminal, the line with a global entry symbol above it, etc. they no longer support/accept Global Entry.

Questioned it with several reps who all indicated that yes I might have used it before in Port of Miami and yes I might have used it before with Royal but no it was no longer an option.

Not a huge deal as the line was short and moving well but frustrating to spend $ on a program and see that it is getting less support instead of spreading.

When we were on NAV over Christmas/NY they told us that they had a Global Entry kiosk but that it wasn't open b/c they didn't need it.  Now it seems that might have been a bit of a deception.

As jti said, it makes no sense for them to have taken the time and money to implement it and then not use it or disable it.  Hopefully they will reactivate this capability once the new terminal is ready.

They definitely need to do something.  Disembark from our last cruise was a mess.

Interesting.  I wonder if it's across the board or based on volume.  I'd be surprised if this dind't come back at least by the time PortMiami sees Oasis class ships, but who knows.  I know at PortMiami in the past it was sometimes hard to identify the GE area, whereas at Port Everglades they now have much better signage for the GE/MPC lines (at least they did a week and a half ago when we got off Harmony).

To be clear, PEFL nor PortMiami have ever had kiosks.  What they do is provide a seperate line (which has far fewer people), and they don't require a declaration form.

The Miami terminal had signage up directing to a line for Global Entry, but the line was closed off.

Last cruise we came into Miami on did not have signage but when I asked one of the "traffic cops" she walked us to the front of the line and had us cut in at the front for the next available agent.

Last couple of cruises we did not receive or need the CBP paperwork (regardless of Global Entry), it seems something has changed there were you only have to fill in the forms if you have something to declare ?

According to CBP's website (https://www.cbp.gov/travel/biometrics/seaports?state=Florida&port_of_entry=All) they only have it for open loop entries for the Florida ports.

Thanks, and yes I saw that, but there are so many conflicting reports on here and elsewhere that it would be good to hear from someone who has recently experienced it.

I will be coming from Europe on a transatlantic (open loop) and am part of the TTP/Global Entry which I would like to use as I have paid for it.

One comment says they asked someone and they were just escorted to the front of the queue, which doesn’t sound very official, but if that’s what it takes 😂

Just interested to see if there are any updates on using Global Entry at the Port of Miami?

I have Global Entry but you don't need it at PortMiami the system they use now facial recognition is pretty quick and Royal already has all your passport information.  If you get a green light you're good to go if you get a red light you go see an agent.  Unless you are brining back things you have to declare the process is much quicker than what it was prior to using facial recognition.

@JasonOasis is correct.  IDEMIA, which has partnered with Royal Caribbean to bring its MFACE facial biometric capturing software to Bayonne, Miami, Port Canaveral, Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) and Galveston.  We have Global Entry and it is invaluable when flying back to the U.S.  At the new Galveston cruise port facial recognition is implemented for everyone (although I don't know about those paper birth certificate people).  There is as close to zero wait time as imaginable.  Applause for Royal Caribbean!

It is much easier for all so kudos for figuring it out, I have also used it with Carnival and MSC but oddly for as much as they embrace Tech not Disney.
