Jr Suite and the Key.

Recommended Posts

Cruising in February with friends at got a Jr suite.  This is there second cruise and the first was in owners suite on voyager.  This This cruise is on harmony.

I am a solo traveler and usually book an interior room.  I don't spend much time there.  My last cruise, I got key for just 5 dollars over voom price and for that cruise was worth it.  They asked me about adding key.  They already key priority boarding.  I don't see where they get internet and they want that, they also need to get key for both yes?

If i get it we board together, and can have lunch together and leave together if they get it.

Thoughts?  These are people thst retired well but don't like waiting money!

Primary question... for junior suite, is key a yes or no when you need internet!

JS on Harmony do not get voom included. In most cases a JS is nothing but a glorified balcony when it comes to perks. Everyone in the room must purchase the Key.  So, if they get the Key, it might be worth it for things like reserved show seating, priority embarkation/disembarkation, the lunch, and voom. They will have the possibility of dining at CK if the demographics allow.

In addition to what @Ampurp85 stated, you also get double C&A points in a JS.  However, you are not allowed to use the Suite check-in line, Suites lounge, or Suite pool deck.

I have always used the Suites check-in line when I had a JS.  If the Set Sail pass says “Suite” (which it always has) then you can use the suites line.  Nothing else though….

Galveston’s terminal suites line allows only GS or above or Pinnacles.

How would they even know ?  I’m not disputing you, I just don’t know how they could differentiate suite levels since the Set Sail Pass just says “Suite” on it (or Star Class).

The Set Sail Pass differentiates primarily by “Category”.  My Set Sail Pass for Sunday shows “Sky” as the category.  No where is the term “suite” on the Set Sail Pass.

Junior Suite is not a Sky class category, I believe it considered “Sea” class.  Also, the Set Sail edge color for GS and above is purple.

We have also used the Suites check-in line as well and never had an issue. I did go back to some of the expired passes that I have lingering in my Apple Wallet and did notice that on the Oasis class ships they do mention if it is Sea Class or Sky Class under the heading Suite. But on other classes of ships it only says Suite.

I've never had an issue with going through the suite line in Galveston with a Jr. Suite.  Royal even explicitly states that Jr. Suite gets priority boarding.  You just don't get the personalized escort is all. image.thumb.png.08fe2cae2a37161a96b221b5022992e0.png

I just get the internet separately and pay for a lunch in a specialty restaurant when staying in a Jr. Suite as opposed to buying the Key.  You could do the same by just getting an early arrival time and meeting them in the restaurant.  Jr. Suites don't get any special disembarkation privileges and leave the ship like everyone else does.  If they don't like wasting money, then I would avoid the Key.  The only time we ever get the Key anymore is when it is on sale and around $20-$25 and we are staying by ourselves in a non-suite room.  The Key for my upcoming trip on Harmony is $36.99 which is way overpriced in my opinion.

If you can get The Key for a few more dollars (I've gone up to $8 more) than the internet, yes, I'd definitely get it. Another thing to consider is if you're tendering at any of the ports on your cruise. We're sailing in a Junior Suite next month and bought it because we have 2 tender ports where priority tendering through The Key will be very helpful. Bon Voyage!

Hell if you can get it at almost the price of voom that is definitely worth it. For my cruise it is now sold out, however every time I looked it was 35 or 39 dollars.
