Repricing question for a rare cabin category?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm this is something I never thought of about repricing a cruise. We chose a kind of rare cabin on our Liberty cruise, its a "spacious promenade view" cabin, there are only 4 of them on the Freedom class ships. They are now all sold out on our cruise in October. There is no way for us to check the price but our TA monitors the price and automatically applies any drops. Once a cabin category sells out I guess there is no possibility of a drop? Just a curious question. We LOVE the cabin we booked.

Correct unless someone cancels and it goes back on the market I guess. I wouldn't expect many price drops in general these days though and especially not for a rare sold out cabin type.

I’ve had a cabin that was in a sold-out category so there was no way to check for a price drop. Certainly didn’t think the price would drop as there were none available in the category.

But, I called to apply an Instant Cash Certificate from the Casino and was surprised when the agent told me the price had dropped a bit and would I like the new price. Very unexpected and appreciated.

I went back and checked up to the final payment date in case some opened up (sometimes group bookings and TAs have them on hold) but the category remained sold out.

You can always call and check. Couldn’t hurt.

Yeah I guess it's just a strange thing with cabins that are scarce, only 4 of them and they sell quickly as far as I can tell. It's not a huge deal at all, just wondering if I was right that there is no way to reprice once sold out. We have this cabin category for the next 3 sailings actually, one and a back to back so 3. My wife counted the back to back as one. 🤣 She correcta me when I call it 2. 🤣

Agree, actually moved from a balcony to this. With kids the extra room, full bath, walk in closet will be very nice. I think it was a good move.

I'm somewhat biased b/c I don't use my balcony even when I have one but I agree the extra room is more valuable than a balcony.

We rarely use it too. I use the least, scared of heights. It's nice at times, and pulling into ports but overall we don't use it enough.

Wow, that's freaking interesting. My TA is great, he does monitor prices. On a few cruises they automatically dropped. I didn't even check, didn't even know the price has dropped and there it was. An email elert of a price drop.
