Brilliance of the Seas - November 2nd - 9th, 2024 - Western Caribbean out of NOLA

Recommended Posts

Just booked this one.  We've never been on Brilliance but we were on Radiance in Alaska.  It will be interesting to see the differences.  I do remember on Radiance the Windjammer was a bit small so I hope that is not an issue on Brilliance.    We also have never cruised out of NOLA so we're looking forward to sailing down the Mississippi for sailaway.

We are Stuart & Lisa from the coastal bend area of south Texas.  Our 1st time on the Brilliance also.  I’m looking forward to getting back on Royal’s smaller ships.  Love the trip down the Mississippi River, watching the lights from the banks go by.  Look for fireworks as they send off ships.

We've never cruised out of NOLA before.  Suggestions for getting to MSY from the ship on disembarkation day?  Pre-book xfer from RC?  Taxi? Uber?  (for 2 couples)

TIA!

Uber or Lyft XL for 4 with luggage will be the most economical. If you can walk with luggage a little bit away from the cruise terminal (there are a lot of hotels within a few blocks) you can likely catch one with much less wait.

There's a pub right next to the casino on Deck 6.  Your best chances is in there.  No guarantee the game you want will be on those TVs

You can probably guess based on my handle that I'm a Ravens fan.  Well, they are playing Thursday night the week of our cruise.  Normally TNF is only shown on Amazon Prime and local channels of the teams playing.  It will be interesting to see if ESPN-Caribbean (which is shown on RC ships) carries Amazon Prime games. (I'm guessing not).

Not sure which C&A loyalty level you are currently at.  If you are Diamond or above, might be worth using the 24-hour wifi pass and stream on your mobile device 😎

I hope that even works.  Because the week we are taking our cruise (1st week of Nov.) the game is on Amazon Prime.  When using Voom, I don't know if we'll be able to access Prime Video (hope so!). It depends on what country Amazon "thinks" we are connecting from when using Voom.

Great!  We've done many Royal cruises (reached "Diamond" last year) but this will be the first time out of NOLA.  We haven't been on Brilliance but took it's sister ship (Radiance) in Alaska last year.  It's a different vibe than the mega ships but the views are great.  I'd say the only criticism of Radiance class ships are that the Windjammer and Centrum seemed very small.

I like the Windjammer on that class of ship since it has outdoor seating.

Ahhh.  When I was in Alaska it was a bit too chilly to eat outside (it was nice but a bit chilly to eat out there) on Radiance.  So, I guess in warmer climates, it's much nicer.
