On board !

Couple of very positive comments -so far

1.  Arrival and boarding were easy peasy.  I love the way they handle arrival here.  There is a Suites/Pinnacle line and then there is a GenPop line.  Everyone lines up and is admitted first come, first served.  No consideration whatsoever as to Sea Pass “boarding time”.  Then, once inside and through security, the seating is subdivided by boarding times.  This makes things SO much easier than trying to partition boarding hordes outside, the way they do it in Miami.  Now….truth be told, I feel certain that Dan and I (and anyone else who wanted to try) could have easily seated ourselves in the “11:00” arrival seats.  They did not check AT ALL but we seated ourselves in the 12:00 boarding section (our official boarding time) and we were still on the ship by 11:15.

2.  The D lounge had embarkation day nibbles !  This is the first time I’ve ever seen food offered in the D lounge on boarding day !  It was nice.  They had fruit, sandwiches (including @asquared17 fave tuna [un]melt !).  There were Ranger cookies which I may or may not have helped myself to…

3.  The MDR was open for a lovely embarkation lunch !  Another first !  A nice lady that we met in the D Lounge told us that Mariner is doing a month- long trial embarkation lunch so we scurried down to 3 to check it out.  The menu is limited but it was wonderful.  I love this and I hope they take it fleet-wide and make it permanent.  Soooo much nicer than the free-for-all at the WJ.

Got all of our dining rezzies made.  For the first time ever, we were not able to get the specialty restaurant reservation that we wanted.  We normally do Chops on the first formal night (night #1 in this case).  Chops was already completely booked for tomorrow night so I had to book Jamie’s for tomorrow and we’ll do Chops a different night…plus Izumi later in the week.  No biggie.  The rest of the nights we were able to book MTD no problem.

It’s starting to cloud up but we need the rain so I’m not going to complain.

Still waiting for our Jim twin to show up.  A circus always ensues so bracing myself for that whirlwind.  Hoping to hear from @Floski !

WAAAYTOOO.    What time did you arrive at the port. We are going to the southern Caribbean on the Mariner on 6/23/23 and have an 11:00 am check-in time, just wondering what time to get to the port.

We got there a bit before 10AM and it seems like we waited maybe 20 minutes before they started letting everyone in.  I would probably plan on getting there around 10AM.  At least you get to sit down and wait once you get through security.  Have a great cruise !  Ours has been super !

@WAAAYTOOO so I guess you guys are back and hope you had a great time.
We liked your embarkation notes and love Mariner in general. Just curious about anything else notable from this trip in particular that stands out.  We were on in February and are on the 6/9 sailing and looking forward to her again.  We would love to hear any interesting insights or comments about changes that you have from this trip.
      Thanks a bunch!!

Thanks !  Yes, we made it home safe and sound.  The disembarkation was just as impressive as the embarkation.  We did self-assist, and were downstairs with our bags in tow by 6:45.  The line went through the MDR on Deck 4 and by 7:15 we were marching off the ship.  So fast, so efficient, so organized.  We were home by 9:30 and that includes a stop for breakfast !

We have decided that PC is our favorite port.  We really loved everything about the port and the Mariner terminal (5).  As for the ship, herself, I loved everything.  The crew was excellent, the service was great, we had a great room attendant, the casino was right on top of everything.  The food was...well, it is what it is.  It was as good as any.  The specialties were very good.  The seas were smooth and the weather was great.  The day at PDCC started out a bit gloomy, but by the afternoon, everything was warm and dry.  Frankly, I am grateful that the skies were a bit overcast.  I cannot take the hot sun so I was happy !  We went to the Coco Beach Club for the first time, and really enjoyed it.  I will go back if I can ever see another reasonable price (we paid $89 PP and I think it's worth that, but not any more than that).

We are going back on Mariner twice in October (B2B).  10-13-23 will be our Pinnacle cruise unless something changes between now and then....which is always possible, with casino offers, etc.

Kumar is the Diamond Concierge and he was fabulous.  We enjoyed him so much.  We weren't in a suite on this one so I do not know anything about the Suites Concierge or the Suites Lounge.

I came home with more money than I left with !  WOWZER !  That is a first for me in a long time.  The casino staff were really top notch.  We were so glad to see our friends, whom we had not seen in some time.  It was a great reunion.  We met @Floski and his lovely bride and had a great time with them, too.  Overall, just an outstanding cruise.  I can't think of a single thing to bitch about !  LOL

Have a great time on her, @Hoppy2BHere.  I'm envious that you will be sailing on Mariner in June.  I know you will have a great time.  Enjoy !!

From the drive down to the drive home, it was a fantastic voyage!

I loved the crewmembers; they all were so good and friendly.  I don't know how much

I tipped but it was a ton - I have been so blessed to be able to go on these fun weeks, and

I was feeling very thankful throughout the whole cruise; heck I even tipped the bathroom

attendants, because their jobs are important and no one ever notices them.

Curacao was phenomenal, but the sunset cruise in Aruba was wonderful:

UGH.  How are you feeling ?  Sorry you're having to deal with this now.  😪

Thank you!

This honestly is nothing more than a head cold.  A little tired, some sneezing, runny nose, etc....but not aching at all.

I had to miss something tonight that I had been looking forward to.  Pretty frustrating, knowing that this is essentially

much ado about nothing.

But que sera, sera.....no worries.  Better now than 10 days ago!!
