okie2tx Posted March 9, 2023 Report Posted March 9, 2023 Are gratuities included in the price of the on shore excursions? Quote
SpeedNoodles Posted March 9, 2023 Report Posted March 9, 2023 No. We always bring cash for tour guides. SPS 1 Quote

I'd love to know what people consider an appropriate amount for a tip. Do you do it based on how much you pay for the excursion? (e.g. $50 tour vs. $500 tour) Do you do it based on how great you thought the tour was? Quote
HeWhoWaits Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 We plan a standard amount regardless of the excursion cost. We assume that many tours will have a guide and a driver and tip each separately. When a guide is particularly good, the amount of the tip goes up. We have never dipped below our default tip amount per person. Cactus527, USCG Teacher and WAAAYTOOO 3 Quote

We tip 5 Euros or dollars to guide per person for 3 to 5 hr excursion and 10 pp for all day like Amazing Secret River. Then 1 euro or dollar per person for driver. A few times I didn't tip enough and a few too much. We hate talkers who go on and on when want to see the sights. Less is more sometimes... PS. These amounts are for large bus groups, e.g., 30+. Srp431 Posted March 10, 2023 Report Posted March 10, 2023 usually $5 for the bus driver and $20 for tour guide is our standard practice. WoodsTravels, WAAAYTOOO and Cactus527 3 Quote
