Brianr70
Doing our 1st cruise Alaska Aug 2023 and was wondering how often does RCL has 'sales/discounts' on cruise packages - such as The Key currently has 20% off but offer ends Jan 3. Do they have other sales throughout the year?
SpeedNoodles
There's a sale about every 4-6 weeks. You'll have plenty of options. That being said, things do sell out, so if there's something you know you want (especially The Key or specialty dining packages, and Alaskan shore excursions), buy them now. If they go down in price later you can always cancel and rebook at the lower price. I cannot emphasize enough how quickly Alaskan shore excursions sell out. michaelp1446 and Brianr70
FloatyBoaty
It's also generally important to note that you should track the actual price (and not the stated % off) of the items & excursions that you are interested in - the % off can be completely meaningless as the base prices often also change. Ampurp85
I concur, don't bother with the percentage off. Just look at the price and determine if you are okay with it, then continue to watch the cruise planner for price adjustments. But also determine the value of what you are purchasing..............i.e., the Key. Your room type, location, activities threshold, etc. might not make it of value even at 40% off. michaelp1446
Psycho and Barb
Start you a spreadsheet to track the items you are interested in. You'll quickly learn that the so-called sale is not really a sale. However, when you see the item, you are interested in for a price you comfortable paying...Purchase it. Keep checking your cruise planner and tracking the prices...If you see it cheaper than what you paid, cancel and repurchase at the lower price. Then when you're onboard add to your spreadsheet the cost of each and you'll see that the so-called sale was indeed really a sale, but there are many, almost constant sales for all of the items pre-cruise. Just because the next sale overlaps the last doesn't mean they both weren't sales. it does certainly mean that if you've been looking at the previous crusie planner sales, there is likely to be little to no decrease from one sale to the next. mac66
A "sale" is whatever price they are selling an item at, i.e, for sale. It doesn't necessarily mean a discounted price. The term "sale" has kind of morphed into (through marketing) a cheaper price but that's rarely true. WAAAYTOOO
FireFishII
Also, don't forget that some items will have an added gratuity. That is not shown in the price but added when you purchase the item. So, sometimes something looks better until you add the gratuity.
