midlandjohna
Newbie cruiser. My mother In Law will be cruising with us in June on Independence of the seas. She has recently been put on lasix and the Dr wants her to monitor her weight everyday to adjust dosages. Are their scales located anywhere on the ship besides the ship Dr's office ? Maybe the vitality spa or gym? If not, I guess we could take a small set of scales in our luggage.
endofturn
I only went to the gym once on Navigator to use the hot tub but I remember there being a scale in the gym. Someone else can confirm but I would think most ships would have one there. They probably hide it out of the way and keep it far away from the buffet. Larry Muster
Ugh. Matt needs to lock and delete this thread! ...But for real - I have seen them in the spa / gym area. KristiZ
KristiZ
Welcome to the boards! While I have never been on Independence, every other ship I've been on has had a scale in the gym. Then it just becomes a matter of if your MIL would prefer to weigh herself privately each day or not.
FireFishII
I feel for your MIL - going on a cruise with unlimited food choices and have to weigh yourself everyday. Talk about a killjoy. Best wishes to your MIL.

Ampurp85
I was on Indy this year and yes, the gym has a scale.......why is anyone's guess.

Don’t trust the scale in the gym. It seems to have issues later in the cruise….it had me 8 pounds too heavy. endofturn, WAAAYTOOO, WAYNO and 2 others 4
LCinPDX
https://www.amazon.com/Venugopalan-Portable-Bathroom-Electronic-Personal/dp/B095N1V4DM/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=CLCYCAB0OVC9&keywords=portable+scale+for+weight&qid=1652819376&sprefix=portable+scale%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMDhaOEZZM1BKVUtIJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDE3OTY3QkI1NE0yNjc2TzczJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA4MzgyMzczUFpSS0VBOFNHOVhDJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== This scale would fit easily into luggage and be a bit more private than trekking down to the gym each day. Depending on what climate you are coming from and where you are cruising, so many things can cause water retention and weight fluctuations. midlandjohna
We live in west central GA, where its currently 92 degrees. So we are all pretty adjusted to the heat and humidity. Leaving from Port Canaveral June 20th for M-F Nassau trip. However, the privacy issue of a 75 year old weighing in public will prob lead me to pack some digital scales. Thanks for all the great input.
