We are the grandparents -- we are much older physically, even if young at heart. . Cocobay will be great for our children and some of our grandchildren. We, and two young grandchildren, would be better off if we could simply go from the ship to the beach at Cocobay and build a sand castle and take a swim and return to the ship within about two hours and bathe and rest.  Is this possible? Do you walk from the ship to the island or what transport do you use?

Yes !!  You absolutely can just go to the island, enjoy a free day at the beach and return to the ship.  There is a shuttle that will take you from the ship to the island (or you can walk) and then there are other shuttles that will take you all around the island.  You don't have to spend a dime if you don't want to go to the water slides, wave pool, balloon ride or Coco Beach Club.  Most of the food is complementary.

Watch out for that complimentary food. Last time I was at Cococay the hamburgers told me "Eat all you want, you look skinny. I won't make you fat". Their compliments were all lies. ?

So true. ? We also had that crispy chicken sandwich stuffed with fried mozzarella sticks per Matt's recommendation...totally delicious AND totally calorie-laden! ?

  • SpeedNoodles changed the title to Can you go to cococay and take a swim without a tour/package from the ship?

YES, I went with 6 grandkids and their parents, sent several hours on the beach with them, there is a swim up bar, chairs in the sand, a little shade made by trees (palm) nothing costs extra.  The water park is what costs extra, but that is only about 1/3 of the Island.
