Star Loft Suite Harmony of the Seas

I just received a Royal Up bid possibility for our sailing in a few weeks. As of now we are in an Owners Suite with a minimal bid in for a 2 Bedroom Aqua (really would prefer 2 bathrooms) but nothing was available at time of booking. My question is two fold, does anyone know the stateroom numbers of the Star Loft Suites so I can see their location and your thoughts if you have stayed there? ie part balcony in proximity to the basketball court etc. The minimum bid requested is $1300.00 so even if we bid that my CC gets hit for $2600.00 if we "win" Planning on staying low key so we will be in stateroom a great deal. Your thoughts would be so appreciated, what would you do? Thanks a bunch :91_thumbsup: Sailing Harmony

You can go to the Royal Caribbean website (or one like CruiseDeckPlans.com) and see the exact location of the various categories of rooms - On Royal's site just go to the main page, choose "Ships" at the top, choose your ship, then you can scroll down the page until you see "Deck Plans".  They are all color coded.  I do this all of the time.

The Star Loft suites on Harmony are 1722 and 1724.  We've stayed in 1722 (rather, its equivalent on Allure) and we had friends who stayed in 1724.  Whether the upgrade cost is "worth it" really depends on a couple of things.  (1)  When you are cruising.  A "couple of weeks" seems to indicate some time in November.  If it is NOT Thanksgiving week then I would not consider that a "high value" week.  (2)  How much you are already "in" for the OS.   (3)  What kind of additional $$ are you planning on spending on the cruise (the OS).

If you are already in, say,  $7500 for the OS and now you're wanting to put in another $2600, that is going to bring you to ~$10K.  The full price of the SLS I stayed in, in April 2018 was ~ 10K (we did not pay full price...we had a casino discount...but that's what it would have cost someone who did not have the casino price).  So I wouldn't consider that a particularly good deal for an "off week" - even for Star Class.  If, however, you are already planning on purchasing an Unlimited Beverage Package and an Unlimited Dining Package, then you are coming closer to a good deal.  It's all up to how much you already have in the cruise and how much you are willing to pay for an all-inclusive (pretty much). If you got a good price on the OS and can manage to get "all in" for under $10K I would say it's a good deal...not great, but good.

Sorry, Nessa.  Forgot to comment on the locations.  Personally, I like 1724 better than 1722 even though it is the "basketball court" view.  We have booked this room (1724) on Oasis for Dec 2020.  #1, it is bigger than 1722 and the balcony is WAAAY bigger than 1722.  Both are GREAT suites.  There is really no down side to either one of them...I just prefer the larger balcony (which also has a "side" ocean view, BTW) and the slightly larger suite.  Keep in mind, even though there are 2 bathrooms, it only has 1 bedroom.  Anyone staying downstairs is sleeping out in the open on a sofa bed.  There's plenty of room....that's not an issue...but they have no privacy at all for those sleeping downstairs.

@WAAAYTOOO you are my cruise God Mother! The way you explained everything to me I am clear and comfortable with my decision not to place that bid. There are 2 adults plus my 13 year old and we are sailing November 24 to December1, 2019 I paid a big price for the 3 of us in the OS. So much so that when I called to possibly switch rooms to a Crown Loft (it came available after final payment) the CL was close to $3,000.00 cheaper and they had no problem making the switch but they were keeping the entire $3,000.00 I could not wrap my head around that so we stayed put. The way you explained the possibility of basketball courts also helped, my luck I would be outside and hear the bounce of the ball and it would drive me crazy. (used to live in a City very sensitive to certain noises) for the added price of $2600.00 if we "won" and then to possibly be miserable, ah no way no how. In addition for our first RC sailing we are #team CK and the refreshment package so not so much savings there either. Thanks so much, have a great evening!

@Neesa we stayed in 1722 on HM and loved it!  @WAAAYTOOO describes it all perfectly except for one thing, while 1724 is larger downstairs and on the balcony, the upstairs of 1724 is very small and narrow. So narrow that you almost run into the bed when you use the upstairs washroom. We like 1722 because it is quiet and private. You cannot hear noise from the courts and only very faint music when out on the balcony. No one can see you like how they can in 1724. I have lots of pics of 1722 in this blog.

Would I bid $1300pp to upgrade? Maybe? Like @12thman said, if it is an itinerary where I would mostly stay at on board and if is is mainly a relaxation cruise then I just might. You figure that ultimate dining plus beverage packages for 3 would already run you close if not over $1000, the extra perks and privileges plus the cost of the genie is hard to quantify. Then again, it depends how much you have already put in for an owner’s suite.
