mark.s
So I got this email below. Looks like Disney cancelled their same 4day today . They gave full refund and 25% FCC . Any experiences with past RC cancellations and the compensation offered?

I got this same email today and I am shocked that RL still thinks we can depart Wed with Dorian coming through as a Cat 3 right up the coast. Disney canceled and Carnival canceled one ship and moved the other to the 6th.
mark.s
there is no way this ship is sailing wednesday night.
AshleyDillo
NCL canceled theirs too but only offered 100% refund. NCL also diverted the current sailing to New Orleans where the current cruise will disembark on Tuesday. They haven't told the passengers about arrangements to get them back to PC yet but are offering $300 towards flight change fees.
12thman
The post title says 2nd the letter says 4th which day are you referring to? Would expect RC to cancel or delay any departure on the 4th.
Atlantix2000
Probably referring to the cruise originally scheduled for Sept 2, but currently delayed until the 4th, and even that is in question at this point.
12thman
Went to RC site to see the updates. Looks like Port Canaveral and Miami will have ships in port. They must see something that other cruise companies don’t see? They have a full time meteorologist so I’m confused how they expect people to fly in? Wouldn’t they know airlines would cancel flights rather than risk getting equipment damaged or stranded in a hurricane?

We'll know tonight at 6PM when they release their next official update. Maybe RCL is willing to sail with just passengers who can drive to the port and have already conceded their losses for these cruises. As it stands now, it looks like all of the scheduled cruises leaving FL on Wednesday have been shortened. So they weren't going to be big money makers anyway... mark.s
as of 9/2 6pm RC says no changes to current itinerary. Sailing at 9pm Wednesday and going to Coco Cay Thursday . But Port Canaveral is closed and the winds will be worse Wednesday … is it me....or is this just whacky ?? ChrisK2793
Ndfan89
Disney has pushed their return to Port Canaveral from 9/4 to 9/5. I do not understand RCI’s thinking on this one. Shocked when I saw the 6:00 update and no changes.
AshleyDillo
Royal is updating again at 8pm per their website. Marine traffic website shows both Harmony and Mariner aren't coming back until Thursday. They haven't updated folks on board yet. Next weather update comes out at 8pm. Probably just making absolutely sure it's time to call it. Also MCO is closed until 5pm on Thursday, so the incoming folks wouldn't even be able to fly out at this point. mark.s
mark.s
Update: Wow what a series of events. RC cancelled the sailing. They are offering a Harmony sailing on Sept 5th. If we can’t do it... then it’s a full refund with a 2 day FCC added on. Prayers for the folks in the the Bahamas ... cdixon22
