Remaining OBC

There is a huge thread on CC right now about this.  Apparently someone on the Jewel tried to go and get cash from the casino for unused OBC and was refused.  I don't know the specifics (those threads are hard to follow most of the time) but I suspect that you can still get cash in the casino if you are willing to pay the 5% convenience fee.

Generally though...PRC is right.  If it's OBC that was provided by a TA or RCI, then it is not considered refundable.  If it's OBC that you brought on the ship yourself, and apparently in cases where you have a cash account set up vs a credit card account, you can get a cash refund.

I personally NEVER have to worry about any OBC left on my account ! I have absolutely NO problem spending all of it !

We never have had that problem either. Spending money never seems to be a challenge. By the time we buy internet package and pay gratuities, we have spent $400. We wait to pay for our drink packages until we get on board. Soda for me $55, soda/coffee for her $150. Add a specialty restaurant, and Johnny Rockets and I am digging in my pocket by the end of the cruise. Really, the biggest challenge for me is not prepurchasing some of these items out of sheer excitement about the cruise.

And I believe that RCI uses up your non-refundable OBC first so at least that should help if you have some OBC and want to cash it out.

I think that post on CC is just someone who had a bad night or ran into some bad luck trying to get money out. As if that was the case, you would just take your credit, stick it in a machine and cash right out and take the slip back to the cash cage....so makes no sense what that person was saying happened to them. But who knows...

Yep big topic I have been reading it too - RCI has been catching on to the Casino option

and even at 5% that is better than leaving it there, but I have a feeling they are going to stop that

I have been starting to do gift cards to clients instead sometimes, this way they can take

the card with them and apply it or use it elsewhere.
