  1. I’m curious about the CocoCay Beach Beds on South Beach. Has anyone experienced this excursion recently? We rented one for our Cruise but I can’t seem to find a lot of details. I know what all it includes but I’m not sure how it works? I know it’s first come first serve but I don’t want to get stuck with a beach bed that isn’t front row and I’m not sure how Id avoid that with so many cruises buying the key? Do I have to wait until I’m at the beach beds to secure one? And do we get to choose one or do they assign us a number? Also, is the buffet far from there?
  2. Good Morning! Does anyone know if infants still in swim diapers are allowed in the oasis pool on CocoCay? Or do the same rules apply as on the ship? No pools until out of diapers? just a curious mom trying to plan with two infants ? thank you!
  3. I am sailing on Harmony with my mom in April to Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, & Perfect day @ CocoCay and I am looking for excursions recommendations for something that has to do with seeing the ruins, food such as making a local meal or chocolate or shopping or at resort for a day or an excursion that has all of those either in Cozumel, or Costa Maya. And when visiting Roatán I want to either go on a beach/waterpark with lunch excursion or spend the day at a resort. I do not want to go on an excursion @ CocoCay I would like for your opinions & recommendations for the excursions that you think we would like for Cozumel, México, Costa Maya, México & Roatán, Honduras. Also please tell me the names of the excursions and where I can book the excursions if that is even possible for you to remember the names of the excursions that you recommended for each of the ports (other than CocoCay) and where the excursions can be reserved. I’m asking for any excursions for the ports listed for the interest I had provided. They can be either third party excursions or sponsored thru Royal Caribbean? Also would appreciate opinions on any other excursions that you went had been on
  4. Is there an area for Suite guests on Coco Cay?
  5. Hey im going on my first cruise with my family in January and ive heard so much about the food on cococay and I was wondering a couple of things. Can you take food off of cococay back with you onto the ship? Im a small eater normally so I wouldn't be able to shove down all the great sounding food in such a short time :) also if I have the soda package will I have to pay extra for getting the soda from the Island? Ive seen a lot of people saying about a 12% fee per drink on the island. Thanks for any help im rather excited about going just not about all the food I know I am going to eat lol

  7. Since I really enjoyed doing a liveblog this past May when I was on Allure, I thought I would give it another go on Grandeur. It will be as live as Grandeur's internet will allow so fingers crossed! Pre-cruise report: Sailing: November 23-30, 2019, Grandeur of the Seas, 7 Night Bahamas Perfect Day cruise Sailing with: Me (32), and my parents (not my age to tell) Flying from: NOWHERE! Baltimore means that we get to drive to the ship for once and don't have to worry about liquids or carry on sizes, or luggage weight. Happy day! Pre-cruise hotel: NONE! Again, Baltimore means a 2 hour drive thus eliminating the need for a hotel. We plan to leave around 8:30 am so even if we run into traffic issues, we should be able to get there with plenty of time. (knock on wood) The itinerary is as follows: Day 1 – Baltimore Day 2 – At Sea Day 3 – Port Canaveral, FL Day 4 – Coco Cay Day 5 – Nassau Day 6 and 7 – At Sea Day 8 – Baltimore Not the most exciting itinerary in the world, but we were just looking for a nice easy get away for not much money. Cabin: Interior for this trip. Since it's the second one this year, it's our cheap quick and dirty cruise. No need to get fancy for this get away! Pre-purchases: We got a really great price on an internet package at around $8/day and my mom and I will have the refreshment package. I also managed to snag a Chill Island cabana before prices ballooned so I'm really looking forward to that since I am a ghost of a human being and burn just looking at a cartoon of the sun. Since Grandeur is a tiny ship and will be the only one docking at Coco Cay, tickets to the waterpark were only $32 so I figured it would be fiscally irresponsible to not at least check it out on this sailing. You know, for research. The last thing we pre-purchased are day passes to the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau so I am quite curious to see what it's like. I've heard mixed things, so we shall see. Random Pre-cruise thoughts: Please let me know if there is anything in particular you would like me to check out or take pictures of for you. I am open to requests. I'm very curious to see what the crew is like for this sailing since Grandeur has long been celebrated for the family like atmosphere. I have tempered my expectations though as I've heard that some of the crew are already leaving due to the pending sale. Forewarning that my idea of cruise fun is lounging and reading when on board so you won't catch a review of the rockwall from me! I do fully expect to burn through 5-8 books on my kindle though. So excited to make a dent in my "to read" list. I promise future posts will have more pictures!
  8. Hi all, I have 34 days untill navigator going to nassau and cococay where can i buy a half day thrill waterpark admisson because i want to spend equal time in thw thrill side and the chill side thank you in advance
  9. Hi all, I will be on navigator from Miami on the 23-27 of December will there be any Christmas events and what are the best tips for navigator and cocoay as it is my first time after the cococay renovation thanks in advance
  10. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with the waterpark and toddlers. Minimum height requirements for the waterpark are 48”. But you have to buy a ticket for four and up. My four year old would definitely not meet that requirement. What’s the deal? Would it be a waste of a ticket??
  11. Hello, friends! If I were to plunk down the $12.99 for a floating mat, do I have to lug it around all day at CocoCay? Or can I use it, turn it in, get something to eat, and grab another one later? In other words, am I renting one specific mat or am I purchasing the ability to use a mat at any time during the day? Thanks!
  12. I found this on Facebook from Rob Stone Photography. He brought a drone to Coco Cay (he was initially told he could use it before someone else told him no). You can see a tiny bit of what is going on behind the construction walls. Unfortunately is is not very much. But hey, something is better than nothing. Edit: new link as the last one was private.
  13. We are sailing on Anthem over New Years and the cabana prices are pretty high for our sailing. Looks like I can grab South Beach for $799 vs $1299 for Oasis Lagoon or Thrill Waterpark Cabana. Chill Island showed up this morning, then disappeared again ? I think it was also $799. So, A) are cabanas even worth it? B) which ones are better? (we are more interested in hanging out away from little kids, our son is 14 and acts like he's 30 LOL). C) what else should I be thinking about as I decide this?
  14. Visiting Cococay last week of November. Seems like water temps in Bahamas are in the low 70's can anyone venture a guess as to the water temperature in the waterpark? I don't want to purchase the water park passes if the water is not comfortable, thanks so much!
  15. Fresh of the Empress with a night in a hotel in between I'm ready and pumped for my next cruise. Did I mention... IT'S CRUISE DAY! I thought about starting this thread before my Empress cruise even left the dock (like some others around here do) but that just wouldn't be right. This five night Majesty of Seas cruise was necessary. I needed something to justify the airfare to Empress so this side-to-side was the perfect solution. Itinerary Ft. Lauderdale Nassau Perfect Day at CocoCay Sea Day Key West Ft. Lauderdale I love Empress but this way I'm upgrading to a much larger ship! Plus, I gotta get back to CocoCay. :) I originally booked a number of Empress and Majesty sailings when the Cuba cancellations were forced upon the industry. I feared Royal might move these ships out of the fleet. My plan was to take lots of pictures and document this legacy class of ship that were the foundation of so much that became even much more on later ships. It was because of the success of ships like this that Royal has become what it is today. Success breeds success. As it turns out they aren't moving these ships out to pasture just yet plus I get to sail on some of the best (small) ships in the fleet! That's a win-win. To be fair I split my time between Empress (3 bookings) and Majesty (3 bookings). I already had some fall bookings that were bucket list type cruises so I had push some my Majesty cruises into October but that's okay, she'll be here waiting for me. When you stay in a hotel and pay for things like meals and drinks you quickly appreciate the value that cruising represents. Spoiler alert - the view out my hotel window never changed and I woke up right where I was the day before. #boring Cabin this time is an Ocean View on deck 4.
  16. Hello! I’ve heard a lot of people talking about the 4-night cruises on Navigator and Mariner that have 2 stops at Cococay. Does anybody have dates for these special itineraries? I might be interesting in booking them.... ? Thanks
  17. Getting ready to go on Harmony of Seas with ports at Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Coco Cay. Need recommendations for best excursions since I have been on a couple of Disney cruises in past and excursions I picked weren't really worth the money.
  18. Hello! Has anyone been to CocoCay and found out the minimum weight? On the Cruise Planner it says the minimum weight is 75 pounds but here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/06/05/royal-caribbean-officially-opens-perfect-day-island-experiences-bookings it says the minimum weight is 50 pounds. Also, is this loosely enforced or do they put everyone on a scale? Thanks! ?
  19. We're over 21 months out from our 4/24/21 Symphony cruise , but the cabanas at South Beach appear in the Cruise Planner already at $399.00... Is this a good price and should we strongly consider booking at this price in the near future? I see from other threads that the price of many of the Perfect Day cabanas and bungalows in other areas fluctuate radically (like $400 - $1,200+)! Our only experience was recently at Nellie's beach where the over-the-water cabanas normally run around $579 unless there is a CP sale (took advantage of one at $521 ?). I also understand, that unlike our Nellie's Beach cabana, they are not first come, first assigned (we got to pick our own since we arrived first). I read here that they are generally assigned randomly prior to arriving to the island, but you can go to the shore excursion desk early on and select any available cabana once onboard (Perfect Day is our last day of the cruise). I see from the map that this would be a good location if we want to relax on the beach and still have close access to the Oasis Lagoon pool. We understand these are on the beach (not over the water like Labadee). Are these cabanas like the one we had at Nellie's Beach with 3 walls or bungalows with just the one back wall? Just curious since the description uses cabana and bungalow interchangeably. What do you think? Any negatives to the South Beach area (I see they just closed it to finish construction)? Thanks in advance! This is how it appears in the CP for us:
  20. I was looking at my cruise planner for CocoCay and came across this. I think I remember seeing this for $400 before. The Thrill Waterpark Cabanas are still $599.?
  21. Does anyone know a nice central spot at Coco Cay to sit. My 69yr mother will be with me and we just want to relax, try the beach and the pool. Have some drinks/food. I will snorkel for a bit, but she won't. Just don't want to zig zag all over and walk a ton with her and it probably being hot. Also, the umbrella's are complimentary right? Will there be plenty of spots with shade? Is there an opton for anything not as expensive as a cabana that offers shade? Thanks!
  22. Hello everyone! Lots of great information on this site. Thank you to everyone for their recommendations and opinions. It's not technically our first time, but our last cruise was over 20 years ago before we had kids and boy have things changed! We weren't ready to have to choose between drink packages and specialty dining options, etc. It's really stretching our budget in ways we overlooked. We just booked on the Harmony of the Seas for July 21st. I'd like to ask thoughts on the drink packages. We would not drink enough to break even with the unlimited drinking package. I am a beer drinker with an occasional frozen drink and my wife is a wine drinker for the most part, but usually no more than 2 glasses at a meal. Also, getting all six of us the refreshment package can be a doozy too even with the discount running until tonight. Any insider tips or secrets you all would like to share in this area? I think this time around we are going to skip the Thrill Waterpark. From a budget view, the cost of this for a family of six would crush any additional excursions for the week. I believe there is still a lot to do on the island that is not so pricey. I am interested in thoughts on two of the excursions that we are looking at in St. Thomas. We have four kids... 11, 13, 15, and 19. Not worried about the 19-year-old as she goes with the flow MOST of the time. My wife is looking forward to snorkeling. We are trying to decide between the St. John's Trunk Bay Beach & Snorkel OR the Pirates of St. Thomas Sail, Snorkel, & Beach. My thought is why go to St. John's for snorkeling if you are in St. Thomas. St. Thomas was beautiful the last time I visited almost 30 years ago. Seems like a lot of time is spent in transit from one island to the other and that MAY frustrate the kids if the ride is too long. I have a horseback rider in the family and she wants to do the horseback riding on St. Maarten. Has anyone here done this one and have any feedback? If my daughter and I do the horseback riding, the rest of the family is looking to do something. Any suggestions on St. Maarten? This will be our first time on St. Maarten. Thank you in advance for any suggestions, comments, or opinions. Best, Hawkes
  23. Thought it would be a good idea to post a quick photo look around of the offerings a Skipper's Grill on CocoCay. I'm going to assume that Chill Grill would have the same offerings. Per signage, the hours of operation are 11:30 to 3:00 Starting off it was nice seeing the beverage station outside of the buffet area. This area also has a soft serve machine. Getting a closer look at the beverage island area. Better view of the drink dispensers I'm not sure if the beer by the ounce dispenser is covered by the beverage package or not. Also want to say a hand washing station was on the other side of the dispensers. Fruit carving just so you know where you were. Skipper's Grill was divided up into multiple sections. Once for cold salads and pre-made sandwiches. Some sandwiches being made. Grill stations with the classic hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, corn, and not shown fries. Next up was a taco/mexican station, here they had chicken, beef, pulled pork, rice, and beans. (Need to double check if I have any pictures) One highlight was the freshly made flour Finally two different topping stations. One geared towards burger fixings and the other for taco fixings. Finally a photo just for drool factor. This plate was a cuban sandwich (made with a soft sweet style bread), rice and beans plus some of the pulled pork. Also forgot to mention there is a small bar counter within the Skipper's Grill area. Don't recall if they did blended drinks but they did carry plenty of beers and spirits. Only major complaint I had was food temperature, nothing seemed really that hot. Most of what I tried was almost warm, some stuff was hot but for the most part it wasn't consistent. I might mark that as being there probably when they first opened around 11:30. Overall they weren't that busy at the time.
  24. We are needing to book excursions for our July Perfect Day at Coco Cay...do we have any current update on when the Thrill Waterpark will be open? AND if we book it (the Thrill Waterpark) and it's NOT complete, will we get a refund? would that refund be OBC? or an actual refund of our money?
