  1. Hello, I will be going on my first RCCL cruise on May 25th (Explorer of the Seas - Italy/Greece/Montenegro/Croatia), and wondering if anyone might have a more recent Cruise compass they could share? The last one in this blog is from summer 2023... Also, anyone know what time the RCCL shuttles run from Ravenna to Venice airport on disembarkation? We will try to book a time once onboard (we booked a shuttle already, but only got a time for the arrival not departure). Thanks!
  2. Explorer had 120 Pins for the Spring 24 crossing but not sure how many D's and D+'s. 300 pax stayed on for this week from Barcelona. 200 of those will make the first sailing from Ravenna.
  3. We'll be arriving in Ravenna a day or two before the cruise departs. Any suggestions for hotel(s) for 4 adults? Already inquired at M Club Deluxe B&B and they have no availability.
  4. @cdngirl Per your request, here is the Cruise Compass from Explorer from 11 May 2024. Cruise itinerary is Barcelona, sea day, Naples, Messina, Corfu, Kotor, Zadar, & Ravenna. cruisecompass.pdf
  5. NOTE: Check out our Venice to Ravenna cruise port guide In trying to book a shuttle from Venice to Ravenna, I have been extremely frustrated by the lack of information about the process, the shuttle itself and other details. I wanted to share the information to save someone else hours on the phone with Royal Caribbean. 1. If you booked your cruise directly with Royal Caribbean, you can call in to book the shuttle. The only way to book the shuttle is to call in. There is no way to do it online or via the app. 2. If you booked your cruise through a travel agent, you have to book through your agency. They will actually have to call Royal Caribbean and book the shuttles on your behalf. Be forewarned that this process can take a very long time because the RC wait times are long. 3. There are two options for where to pick up the shuttle. If you are flying in the same day, you can get a shuttle from Marco Polo airport. Maybe someone else can chime in about this but I was told by a RC rep that only people flying in on the day the shuttle departs for Ravenna can book on the shuttle that leaves from the airport. 4. There is a shuttle that leaves from the Venice transportation hub, Tronchetto. The shuttle leaves at 11 am and arrives in Ravenna around 2 pm (it is a 3 hour trip from Venice to the Ravenna port. You have to meet the cruise representative no later than 10:30. When I booked the shuttle, I was told to meet the representative at 9 am, but apparently this information was wrong. 5. Tronchetto is a huge place. The location where you will meet the cruise representative is at the Tronchetto People Mover Station Arrivals area on the Ground Floor. 33, Isola Nuova del Tronchetto 30135 Venezia. 6. If you book the shuttle at sometime after your initial booking, you may need to call in to your tour agency or to the Royal Caribbean travel agency customer service area to ask for your Edocs. I did not receive Edocs from RC that had the updated shuttle information, which is why all of the above was news to me. If you get your Edocs from RC via email, you will find information about the shuttle service you booked on pages 19 & 20 of the package.
  6. When we sailed from Ravenna last fall, we booked transportation through the B&B owner. At 40€, it was more expensive than the Royal Caribbean shuttle, but it was drop dead simple….worth every cent we paid.
  7. We have coming curise on June 3, and embarking at Ravenna. We will arrive Ravenna a day before. I am still trying to figure out how to get to cruise port from the city. Steve C mentioned that there is shuttle bus to RC port. I am wondering if I need to book it in advance or just go train station to take the bus. Thanks.
  8. We've booked a shuttle post cruise from Porto Corsini (Ravenna) to the Ravenna train station. Is there any way to get ensure we got on the earliest shuttle? We would like to catch an early train from Ravenna to Venice or is it best to walk off and call a cab from the port? Thanks in advance, Rick
  9. We stayed at NH Ravenna last Oct and was fine. Great location easy walking distance to the train station where you also have to get the shuttle bus to the ship.
  10. How to get from Venice to Ravenna cruise port with the shuttle (and vice versa)
  11. Hello (im using a google translator) I disembark from the cruise in Ravenna on September 21, 2024. I have to be at the Ravenna railway at 08:43am to board a train to Bologna. -Would it be possible to reach the Ravenna railway in time? -Are there transfer services from Ravenna Port to Ravenna Railway? - Can I ask Royal Caribbean for priority to disembark, considering that I have train tickets that will depart at 8am from Ravenna to Bologna? Thank you!
  12. I'm taking a train in from Milan. I should arrive at the Ravenna train station around 1:15pm. To get to the port, will there be shuttles available sitting around at the station? Getting bus tickets seems like a nightmare, and taxis look really expensive. How does the shuttle service work when heading TO the port on the first day?
  13. When we sailed on Explorer out of Ravenna last August, we booked Royal's coach service from the airport to Ravenna but then booked Ravenna to city centre afterwards. Yes, they are all coach buses. My invoices showed the different pricing for both routes and there was no issue. It might be worth phoning again. The person I spoke with did have to put me on hold a few times while sorting this out but it was all organized as we had requested. Good luck
  14. When I called, this is the information I got. My understanding is these are all coach bus rides. Shuttle Booked Through RCCL VCE Marco Polo Airport --> Ravenna Port: $45 (Flight must arrive by 11:55am. Seems too late to me) (11:30am & 12:30pm pick-up) VCE City Center --> Ravenna Port: $58 (9am & 11am Pick-up) BLQ Bologna Airport --> Ravenna Port: $40 (Flight must arrive by 2:30pm) Ravenna Railway Station --> Ravenna Port: $12:50 (7:30am-3:30pm Embarkation) Ravenna Port --> VCE Marco Polo Airport: $45 (Earliest Flight 12:15pm) Ravenna Port --> BLQ Bologna Airport: $40 (Earliest Flight 12:15pm) Ravenna Port --> Bologna Train Station: $30 Ravenna Port --> Ravenna Railway Station: $12.50 The Venice City Center: People Mover - Tronchetto station, Isola Nova del Tronchetto, 33, 30135 Venezia VE, Italy We are staying near the Venice City Center several days prior and wanted to book from there to the ship but then from the ship to VCE airport. We were told numerous times from numerous customer service reps at RCCL that it is one or the other. There is no mix and match. (UPDATE: You can mix and match. Persistently ask the agent to check, it's possible) They claim the system allows for only one reservation meaning 1 round trip booking or 1 one way. Since we have a flight at 12:15pm on debarkation day, we feel it is priority to ensure we have that leg booked. Therefor, we opted to just go to the VCE Airport on our embarkation day and do the roundtrip from there. Not nearly as convenient but didn't feel we wanted to chance the availability of them offering us transportation options once we were onboard (someone posted they a flyer where they were offered these options). There is no way to book this online by yourself. I called, others have mentioned they chatted and booked that way. I originally booked from the VCE City Center, received no invoice but was told it was due by the final payment date of the cruise. When I changed it to VCE Airport roundtrip, that agent sent me an updated invoice which included a line stating "Roundtrip Transfer" and $90 added under each guest. Payment due with final payment date. One other thing to note. There are a couple excursions on deparkation day that also provided a final transfer to VCE Airport. The excursion is called "Padua with Airport Drop-off (VCE)", and is available in English, Spanish, and Italian. It starts at 8:00am, is 6.5 hours long, and requires a 4:30pm or later flight as it says you'll arrive to the VCE airport at approximately 2:30pm.
  15. We used it on Explorer in Ravenna last year. For around £35/$45pp I think it was well worth it - meant we could chill on board for about 4 or 5 hours with food and drink (the Coca Cola cup worked) before showering, getting taxi to train station for flight around 8pm. Was a nice alternative from Day Use hotels around Miami.
  16. Hello, We are are doing the Greek Mediterrean cruise out of Ravenna. Can you tell me how far you have to walk from the cruise ship to the RC shuttle? Also, where in the city center does it drop you off? Trying to figure out how far our hotel will be from the drop off point in the city center. Thank you.
  17. (I originally posted this in the Excursion board but it may not have been the correct place) We are taking Rhapsody OTS (7/25/02 - 8/01/02) from Athens to Ravenna and are looking for suggestions on traveling from Ravenna to Venice when the ship arrives on 8/1. There will be 3 of us (me, my wife, and her adult daughter). We are staying in a hotel near the Venice airport and flying out of there Tuesday 8/2 at about 1pm. We'd love to get to Venice around lunchtime and get a quick tour. Any suggestions? TIA!
  18. This summer we are booked on the Explorer OTS to cruise the Greek Islands and we are flying into Venice. Looking for travel recommendations from Venice to the port at Ravenna. Anyone done this? Thanks. rjac PS - HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
  19. Royal offers paid transfers to Venice, BLQ airport and Ravenna train station. Buses start departing at 7am. You can book tickets ahead thru Royal or onboard ship.
  20. My husband and I are going on explorer of the seas on June 4 out of ravenna. We are arriving in Venice on June 2nd at 11am. We would like to take the train from Venice to Ravenna as we are staying in Ravenna until the cruise leaves. Has anyone done this? Are they any tips on how to get about from the airport to the train station? Do we need to purchase tickets for the train before we get to Italy? This portion of the trip is causing me stress trying to figure out how to get from Marco Polo airport to Ravenna ahead of time. Any help would be appreciated.
  21. Heading to Greece next July. There will be five of us, 3 adults and 2 teens. Would appreciate some hotel recommendations near the port in Ravenna. Molto grazie!
  22. So, in the world of first world problems, I seem to have one, and am looking for advice. I am sailing Explorer of the Seas in late October from Piraeus to Barcelona. We were originally taking the cruise that sailed out of Ravenna but for whatever reason that was canceled and replaced with a 6 nighter out of Greece. We rebooked on that because my wife has a conference in Barcelona, so the endpoint and time was actually of more importance than the starting point. But that shifted our plans from doing a couple of days in Venice and taking a train to Ravenna to Athens and the much closer port of Piraeus. We are getting in to Athens around noon on Friday. Not too hard to plan things to do for the 1.5 days prior to the cruise. But here's the big question - should we board the cruise early, or spend a little more time in Athens before making our way to port?
  23. For $5cad more when you're getting the internet package already? That's a good call! I'm only a fan of The Key when it's within $10usd of the internet package, and then I love it! We had it last year on our cruise out of Venice/Ravenna and used the priority tendering at Mykonos. They'll tell you what time and where to meet for your tender through communication left in your stateroom, like you receive info for an excursion booked through RC. I believe we met at Schooners Bar and as soon as passengers were allowed to get off the ship we were being led to the gang walk. We were the first ones on the tender boat and we enjoyed a couple of hours exploring Mykonos before the masses arrived in tour groups and made it crowded. We bought The Key again this year for upcoming Greek Isles cruise because we thought the priority tendering would definitely be worth it again in Mykonos and Santorini. Hope you enjoy your cruise!
  24. Hello. We booked Enchantment of the Seas starting in Ravenna on September 18th. We spent the weekend in Venice and booked the train for the 18th(in the early morning). Unfortunately, there is a strike on September 18th- leaving us not knowing if we will make it to Ravenna on time. We have searched for alternatives but the only one that would work is by taxi(400€). Is anyone else in this situation? If so, feel free to respond to this post with your contact information or any tips you may have- we appreciate it!
  25. Hi experts Never seen the 'Stay Awhile' option on any of my previous cruises (may have been there just not looked!) but it is listed for Explorer next month. Saw a thread asking about this for Barcelona, but started this as may differ by port. Anybody had the pleasure of this in Ravenna previously? If so, what time do you get 'kicked off'?! Our flight from Bologna is not until 7pm so won't need to get to airport until around 4 or 5 - a few hours on the ship may be a nice way to spend the last day instead of lugging cases/finding storage etc. Reading the description the Freestyle cups will still be usable as well as the dining venues being available so won't starve or dehydrate! Thanks.
