I know Royal puts a "hold" and may appear as "pending transactions" on your credit card online account.  This does not mean Royal will debit that much from your card.  $5,000 hold seems excessive and could be an error on their side where they entered one too many zeros. 

IMO, the supervisor probably doesn't have the authority to issue the refund for your Royal Up bid.  This will probably need to go a bit above the supervisor at Royal's call center.  I am certain they will be able to resolve it but it will take time.

I would call Royal again and contact Royal via Twitter.  If not, refer to your travel insurance coverage or your credit card you used for the Royal Up bid.  You may be able to recoup the costs through those channels.  Good luck and hope everything works out.

Have you checked hotels around Las Olas Blvd?  There was construction when I stayed in the area in June but prices were significantly lower compared to 17th area options. 

The ones bashing cruising probably do not even travel at all.  When I was in university, I was surprised to meet so many people who have never left their home province/state in their lives!

Did you consider flying from YYZ to FLL? 

Sometimes Air Transat have decent prices direct to FFL from YYZ but their flight times are horrible. 

No irons are allowed or supplied in the staterooms.  They do offer press service onboard for a fee.  Some members here bring Downy wrinkle releaser.

Let's say the fall detection system is installed and it did not save the person who went overboard.  Would the cruise line be liable even if the person jumped or was doing something they were not supposed to?  The cameras that are onboard the ships are there to protect the interests of the cruise line and prove the cruise lines were not at fault.

Lots to do at Perfect Day at Coco Cay w/o spending a dime.  Love the new food selections and Oasis Lagoon is a huge hit.  With the Oasis Lagoon and the new water park, the beaches are pretty empty and quiet.  Can still have your relaxing beach time if you wish.

Are you flying during or close a national holiday?  I'm cruising close to US Thanksgiving this November and our flights to FL from DTW are about 30% more than what we usually spend in April.

The points has been there since April.  I have not called C&A to investigate.  Probably won't.

That is exactly what happened to us after our cruise in April.  In cruise history, they put in two Baja Mexico cruises in 1970.  We were born in the 80s.  We jumped from Platinum to Emerald.  2 pts away from Diamond.  Possibly C&A intern was friends with drink pkg intern?

Just received e-mail for itinerary change for Nov 17 sailing.   Leaving earlier now at 2:30p in Costa Maya.  Roatan replaced with Nassau. 

Have occasional lower deposit promos outside of Next Cruise Desk.

Every now and then, I delete all the MyVegas apps for about 3 months.  Re-install them and usually get an increase in LP.

They were released in May. 

The quickest way to earn Loyalty Points (LP) especially in the beginning is to play on FB desktop.  My recommendation is to create a secondary profile on FB dedicated for these type of games.  The most recent version of Android allows you to access multiple accounts through parallel apps option.   There are daily links to free chips by doing a quick Google search.  

My wife and I usually apply two $100 OBC vouchers combined to each of our sailings.

This means there is a huge disconnect between HQ and Operations on the ships.  For new and first time Royal cruisers, this may not affect them as much.  But for cruisers who have sailed with Royal multiple times, this can be frustrating at times.
