Essentially, especially at lunch. The bangers and mash were phenomenal on the Brilliance sailing out of England. I think Yorkshire Pudding was served with most beef entrees, too.

If you are on the beverage program that includes a souvenir cup, where can you get it refilled if your ship does not have Freestyle machines? It says at any venue, but of course not all venues serve soda, I presume. All bars and restaurants? We will be on Serenade, does she have any self serve soda fountains?

I agree. You will always have people who are trying to "beat the system" or get as much as they can. You will never be able to totally control it, unless you start to fully charge for room service. Then watch the people ordering two and three meals each from room service fall off. You will have to price the greed out of them.

Secoldly, you may be right about still having massive orders under the fee system, I can see people 'getting their money's worth'. But I can still see less people ordering on the whole, the fee should be a insensitive to eat elsewhere for most. You can buy a beer for the cost of getting your own food.

Totally agree! This is one way to weed out the people who abuse the system. A certain percentage cruisers will not be willing to "pay" for room service anymore. Everything has a cost, one way or another. The question is just whether you are willing to pay the price. Remember, there's no such thing as a free lunch! At least not anymore.

How about free room service?  Maybe they could "add" that feature to their cruises.

I dont like it because it further discredits the term 'Included' by adding yet another exception. I do really think this will improve quality, but I doubt that's their intention, more of a byproduct in my opinion.

People order the entire kitchen. Not sure how this dish will taste? Order it in addition to your five plates and find out. If you don't like it, oh well.
I'm not trying to shame anyone, I do it to, but this creates an insane amount of work for the staff. They can't just keep running crazy amounts of food all over the ship at all times, they also make THOUSANDS of meals a day aside from this service. That's a pretty big deal when you think of it.
 
I am upset about the charge but also understand that this service is being abused. By adding this cost it will help maintain the crowds at a manageable level.

Well, this topic really got the juices flowing, so to speak.  I guess what it boils down to, like so many other things, is personal choice. If you like room service, then order it. If you don't, then don't. If you don't mind paying for it, then do. And if you do mind paying for it, then don't. Be mad, don't be mad. The choice is yours. You have the right to feel anyway you want about this and you are not wrong. This is just one of the many choices you'll have while on a RCCL cruise. Happy cruising all!

Does anyone know if the new ships are built using pre-fabricated cabins that are just attached together, like they do with a lot of new hotels these days?

With all that RCCL ships have to offer, what's missing? What's the one thing that you say, "I wish that RCCL would add "this" to their ships!"

I think the fact that they are now charging for something that was "free" has people upset. Even those that never used it or ever planned to use it. Just the idea of "losing" something that they had for free, is upsetting. I think this brings up the general question, should they make everything included and charge more for the cruise, or charge less in general and make more things a la cart?

From what I've read, at least about hot breakfast, people aren't really missing much. I think at least keeping the complimentary continental breakfast is a good move. In the end, if somebody really wants room service they will pay for it. I think a lot of people just order it for the novelty of it and maybe that staff will be better used elsewhere?

I like "good-bad" better than "bad-good!" if you know what I mean. I'm sure the surroundings make it all the better!

In essence, this is a fare increase for those that utilize the service. They're now paying for something that was previously included in the fare. The same has happened in the past, too. Soda used to be complimentary in the dining room, Johnny Rockets was once complimentary, room service was once 24 hours a day without charge, etc.

its a very small venu so usually after the showtime in the theater lets out there's a line within 10 minutes.  The late nite lighting and atmosphere in the solarium is very peaceful to me.  
 
and i think this last time I actually did have lunch there on day one!  (warning... the honey-stung chicken is only in the WJ (day one famous favorite!)
