  1. Well, we had a similar situation in regards to a shortened cruise. Our 9-Night on Grandeur out of Baltimore was delayed by two days because the ship had to stop in Port Canaveral for rudder repairs. Even though the cruise only ended up being 7 nights, we still got the original 9 C&A points along with a 50% cruise fare refund and a taxes/fees refund on the ports we missed as a result.
  2. I would check for updated Cruise Documents/Luggage Tags attached to your reservation. It may tell you your new cabin number. (In the case of Royal Up, new cruise docs are issued within 48 hours of acceptance) Getting a complimentary upgrade from an OV Balcony is intriguing. It could be either a Spacious OV Balcony or maybe another "more preferred" location. If you cross your fingers hard enough, maybe even a Junior Suite!
  3. DAILY gratuities of $14.50 per person, per day ($43.50 PP/PD for the three of you) is for the services of your stateroom attendant, head waiter, waiter, and assistant waiter in the Main Dining Room. Many choose to pre-pay these so that (1.) It's one less thing to pay for on your credit card after the vacation and (2.) If you're booking well ahead of time and making payments to the booking until the final payment date, it's an easier expense to cover. An 18% gratuity is automatically charged for specific purchases you make on board. (drinks, specialty dining, spa services) Welcome to the boards! Use the search function you'll find plenty of answers to your questions and a lot of great advise!
  4. Boy, I misread this and got excited at the prospect of choosing my own price!
  5. A "Guaranteed" (GTY) booking is the same this as letting "Royal Caribbean allocate" your room. You are guaranteed a room that is at least the cabin class that you have selected and the cruise line chooses what room you will get. (You may possibly even get a better room depending on availability. i.e. Score a balcony room even though your GTY booking was for an interior or ocean view cabin.) By Guaranteed, do you possibly mean you have chosen the room and are, therefore, "guaranteed" to have the room you have selected? Anyway, I'm much in the same camp on this as @Traveling Mike is. If I can save a good deal of money that I can spend on other cruise vacation items (Drinks, Dining, Excursions, etc.) by booking GTY or with lesser cabin class, I will go that in a heartbeat! Just get me on the ship!
  6. Correct. The device is called the Octagrabber. So they're obviously not treating the booster like a guy holding onto a mattress with one arm while driving! https://spacexfleet.com/Octagrabber
  7. I'm afraid not. You have to present the original at the port. You will need to get a replacement. Knowing that we would need to travel with these for the foreseeable future, I purchased these Passport/Vax Card holders so that we always know where our vax cards are AND to protect them from being damaged. Who thought these flimsy pieces of paper with VERY IMPORTANT information on them was a good idea? https://www.amazon.com/Doulove-Passport-Vaccine-Holder-Leather/dp/B09BCT1M7K/ref=sr_1_5?gclid=CjwKCAjw8sCRBhA6EiwA6_IF4cgslBTItCtSZV1Ty4ZyTd2Ew7ibWjJuquqh08esXCxsRJ6T3MV5XBoC6lwQAvD_BwE&hvadid=511430690376&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9051951&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9756741064692047628&hvtargid=kwd-1218745837133&hydadcr=10844_9896005&keywords=passport+and+vaccine+card+holder&qid=1647344595&sr=8-5
  8. WOW! How did you take this photo?!?!
  9. Thank you for this post @Amanda92. My wife needs to eat gluten free and the amount of effort the staff puts into accommodating her dining needs is top-notch. Recently on Odyssey, the effort was ramped up even more than on previous cruises. They did a great job modifying just about everything. (Especially, the apple pie a la mode!) We agree about the pizza at Sorrento's. Unless you ask for it to be baked a little longer, it tends to be underdone. I can't tell you how much stressed is eased off of her mind by not having to worry about mistakenly being served glutenous items and by knowing she is going to be able to eat delicious, well prepared foods throughout our vacation. One note about Odyssey (and possibly other Quantum ships): The Café Two70 staff were terrific about gluten free options! We visited for breakfast on our first morning and a staff member assisted with preparing her breakfast sandwich with a gluten-free bagel (Udi's). This staff member (Rohman) and another (Emmanbien) obviously made mental notes of this because for the remainder of the cruise, whenever we would enter Two70, one of them would seemingly appear out of nowhere right next to her to personally ask her would she would like to have! Fantastic!
  10. This is correct. Honestly, I actually preferred how disembarkation has been handled most recently; You just wait in your cabin until your group number is called. We went to Two70 Café, grabbed some breakfast and one last specialty coffee and ate on our balcony before it was time to leave. It was much less hectic than gathering a large group of people somewhere else on the ship and then crowding them out to the gangway when the number was called.
  11. If you are later, just go in and you will be fine. It being early that might cause problems. Correct. Due to available shuttle times from our hotel being either too early or too late for our liking, we opted for the early shuttle time. We were required to wait about 45 minutes at the terminal before entering. (Longest 45 minutes of my life! ) Late arrivals can proceed to the line leading inside) FYI: @Snowchaser The app allows you update your arrival time (later or earlier) if time slots are available!
  12. Royal Theater shows on Odyssey have been on a "First Come, First Served" basis. No reservations required. The Book and other shows/performances in Two70 require reservations because of limited seating. (some seats "Reserved" for social distancing) This was how things were on the January 29 - February 6 sailing. This may change as ship capacities increase.
  13. According to the itinerary on RC's website, Independence is in Nassau at 8:00am. Be aware that listed times and generally reliable, but can vary.
  14. Deck 15, Starboard side Forward corner of the Sea Plex. Aside from the App, you can also book at a service desk next to Zone Zero. Keep in mind that Times and Dates become available throughout the cruise, so it may be best to keep checking back on the app for availability. We wanted to book at the desk on Day 2, but no slots were available. The crew member at the desk give us the tip to keep checking the app because more slots would become available and that they fill up fast.
  15. You're gonna have to wait outside until your check-in time and there isn't any seating outside. You're not gonna be able to go inside the terminal until then because the doors lead directly into a queueing line for security/health check, and check-in. The seating indoors is past the security/check-in area for guests waiting to board if the ship isn't ready for boarding.
  16. If it's in your cruise planner you can use it for pre-cruise purchases (specify how much to use toward your purchase during checkout) or you can save it for use onboard. It's your choice.
  17. I'm not really sure why the Liquid Lobster is listed under the entrees when it's just a small caviar topped spoonful. It was brought to us with the appetizers. We didn't really even "order" the appetizers. Our server pretty much brought us one of everything on the appetizer menu! Wonderland is definitely worth trying at least once for the experience. The only draw back was that I had to "paint" the menu about three times to take another look at what I wanted!
  18. You can absolutely do a cancel/rebook of ANY of your Cruise Planner purchases! The original purchase will be refunded to your method of payment. If purchased with a credit/debit card, it may take some time to be refunded to you. (Sometimes 2-3 weeks) If you purchased using on board credit, it will be immediately credited to your reservation.
  19. Yes, Midnight Eastern Time. FYI: The earliest arrival time may not be available until some time later. In December, the earliest time available when check-in opened was 12:00-12:30PM. A week later 11:00-11:30AM became available. The good news is that you can easily update/change your arrival time so feel free to keep checking back for better time.
  20. The OP has made two posts in total and both are in regard to being "stuck" because of no vacation time because of a new job. The OP has also not returned since joining to complain four days ago. So, I doubt the OP will return to seek advise. I suspect that the real issue should be addressed with the new employer rather than blame RC. The employer sounds pretty inflexible. In these modern days of promoting "work/life balance", the idea of expecting a new employee to take NO time off for the foreseeable future is very antiquated.
  21. Check-in should open up at Midnight Eastern time. A couple of other things though. 1. If you do want to get an early arrival time as soon as check-in opens, you only need to select an available check-in time. You can return later to complete the rest of check-in. (When you are more awake and/or caffeinated!) 2. The earliest check-in times may become available at a later date. For example, on the day of check-in for our last cruise, the earliest time available was 12:00-12:30pm. A week later, 11:00-11:30am became available. The good news is that you can always edit your check-in time to get an earlier time (or later, if need be), so feel free to keep checking back. (BTW, I kept checking back and I'm still trying to figure out how some other people got 10:00 and 10:30 check-in times!)
  22. If you've already got a good room booked, why not? If you don't get an upgrade, oh well, you've already got a cabin selection you're pleased with. If you do get JS, that's a great bonus at a great price!
  23. I really don't like when this happens on this site. All too often, people join just to rant in absolute anger about getting "screwed over" because they had not done their due diligence. Just as @smokeybandit said, this was going to be the outcome with any of the cruise lines when you book with a non-refundable deposit. The truly sad part is that many of the "Join/Rant/Leave" members, as I like to call them, don't return after typing their vitriol to get what could actually be some useful advise. i.e, Cruise With Confidence, only book refundable fares, travel insurance, etc.
  24. We were also on Odyssey last month and this photo brings up something I was wondering. What is the deal with the peeling on the Sea Pass cards? My wife had her card replaced at Guest Services by day 4. (BTW, replacing the card meant she no longer had the green sticker, so what is the point of the sticker?)
  25. So in this instance, does the "D" in "Email Bonus NRD" mean Discount or Deposit?
