  1. Heck, Matt, it seemed like you did more work while on Anthem than real vacationing!!
  2. I would love to be able to get a banana daiquiri on Coco Cay and on the ships. One of the best things about St. Thomas is heading up to Mountain Top! I hate that I can't bring one back with me!
  3. I agree. I love eating in the MDR. IMO (which with a fiver will get you a nouveau cup o' joe), it's a great venue - the food is excellent, and if I get something I don't like, I just get something else. The waiters do their damndest to please you (I still can't get my wife to put a clean, cloth napkin in my lap and call me "sir"). My wife thinks that I grill the best steak she's ever had by far, so why go to a steak place? That said, we will probably do First Night Done Right, and also hit up Sabor for lunch.
  4. When I was a wee lad, we lived in Cocoa Beach and then Satellite Beach. All of us kids were SO excited about Disney opening up...then we moved in Jan of '71, only a few months before Disney opened. Here we are, 46 years later, and I've never set foot in Disney nor Universal.
  5. My co-worker, who has a lot more cruises under his belt than I, says that it's a great idea, and he's done it a few times. You can go where you want, even off the beaten path or to an AI resort, and not worry about taxis, etc. I'm a little more cautious, and am sure I'd find myself in a wreck with an ox or a flat tire - anything to make me miss my boat.
  6. Well now...this thread took an unexpected and disappointing turn.
  7. So, if you are not on a cruise and staying there on your own, are you allowed to go into the dock shopping area?
  8. We are destined for Falmouth on our 1/21 cruise, but I don't think I'd be too upset if they changed ports on us. I was just saying the other day that I'd be happy with two days in Coz. I really wanted to go to Jamaica, but the more I read up on it, the less I want to go. Sad. I know the country and area need the money.
  9. Oh well. So much for that. What the hell - I haven't seen my feet in so long I wouldn't even notice until I went to brush my teeth and realized that I suddenly got a lot shorter!
  10. This was posted on the Oasis Facebook Page... Major Cruiselines Pull Out Of Falmouth Port, Financial Fallout Expected The article says that the mayor of Falmouth says that the cruise lines are concerned about visitor harassment. Now that sure would be tragic for an area as poor as this would lose $5 million a month because they can't police their citizens any better than that.
  11. Y'all know what I'm talking about. They eat the dead skin off of your feetsies and lower legs. Aren't they available in Cozumel? I thought I had read that. Does anyone know how much/how long the session is? I have suuuuper ticklish feet; will I be able to bear it?? Is it safe? Okay, that's all I have. I'll hang up and listen. Thanks!
  12. Jane, I'm psyched as all get-out about Nachi as well. I hate to say this, but I think I'd rather have 2 days in Coz and skip Falmouth altogether. Freedom will forever be my favorite girl, since she was my first (and by far and away the best vacation ever).
  13. I got a ride to St. Thomas. That's pretty much it.
  14. My friend was able to find them early in the sailing on Freedom last year, but it was a helluva search, and they were nowhere to be found after about day two.
  15. Sorry, not Bahamas-related, but we are going to Labadee/Falmouth/Cozumel in January. Will I be able to find some Ron Zacapa for a good price at any of those destinations? Oh, and what about tequila? What is the best value, I assume in Cozumel?
  16. I think we will do the First Night Done Right, and the MDR after that. We were extremely happy with the MDR on Freedom, and I enjoy getting to know our servers. I know that isn't really thread-worthy. Sorry.
  17. Which date are you departing? We're leaving on 1/21. I was so hyped about Jamaica (I LOVE Reggae music and rum) and then I started researching and none of the excursions or private tours are doing anything for me. So I imagine we'll do the shopping area and Red Strip in Jamaica thing, but probably get back on the ship after a while. I would love to try some "Roast Fish and Cornbread", which is a Reggae song from Scratch Perry.
  18. She's an international assassin, so she gets a lot of time off between jobs...
  19. You got me...barely. My first was at 53, and now it's pretty much all I think about anymore. You can bet your sweet bippy that I won't go 23 months without a cruise again (until I cruise on up to Heaven!)!!!
  20. We stayed in an interior Promenade stateroom, and there is a place to sit, along with the little couchette that is at the window.
  21. Thank you so much for posting those great pictures and narrative. I made my reservations about two weeks ago for our January visit. Of our three ports, Cozumel is easily the one I'm most excited to experience.
