  1. Based on what it could potentially take to ramp up these ships, I would venture to guess holiday 2020 sailings are most likely not going to happen. This assumes that RC has not already started the process on the backend to get things moving. It’s one thing to get CDC backing but the bulk of the start up process will involve some serious logistics across multiple continents.
  2. I was getting 1:30 pm boarding times pre-Covid and as always disregarded them and was on the ship by 11am for the most part. I think the boarding time is more of a suggestion but maybe things are actually changing?
  3. Uber or Lyft is the best option. Avoid cabs if possible.
  4. Me too. Was really looking forward to another awesome Thanksgiving on Oasis!
  5. It’s a roll of the dice. Personally I wouldn’t take that bet and I really enjoy gambling.
  6. I’m gonna throw it out there, 2021 is a wash. I think we cruise again in early 2022.
  7. Did you lift & shift yet to 2021? Losing hope for 2020 at this point.
  8. I can see the tourneys being cancelled but I think the casino would be the absolute last thing that RC would consider closing. Much like a Vegas resort, they can put all the bells and whistles they want on that ship but it’s foundation is still the casino.
  9. I took this Sat pm while at the Downtown Cigar bar in Fort Lauderdale. Little to no wind and a small amount of rain. Just another Saturday night. Thankfully we were once again spared.
  10. It all boils down to the “floating petri dish” description that was exploited by the media. I would guess even with CDC approval that RC, Carnival & NCL are hesitant to restart operations because nobody wants to be the guinea pig. I would guess that one major outbreak on a cruise ship (thanks largely in part to negative reporting by news media) would put the last nail in the coffin for the cruise industry. This is going to be a delicate dance and I hope we can all sail again soon. I certainly don’t rule out an implosion of the entire industry though.
  11. Agree the slot machines are mind numbing but I have done as well or better on machines then tables. Higher stakes play though for sure as I can’t hit a button all night betting .50 cents a push and ending the night with a cramp in my finger! Average $10 per slot pull and minimum $100/hand on table is more exciting for me personally (and the players club perks are decent).
  12. Without chips, games like Craps & Roulette officially suck. Also, what about rolling the dice? At some point there has to be a line in the sand regarding the overall experience. If I wanted to play video roulette or video craps it can be done on my phone on my couch. Part of the experience is the casino itself. A beer at the casino bar while catching part of a game on the TV or watching a hot table and deciding where to put my money down. The experience will change but it’s just a question of how much?
  13. I’m tired of the insanity so we lifted & shifted from Thanksgiving 2020 to 2021. Interestingly enough, the Oasis Thanksgiving 2021 sailing has 0.0 suites left so we opted for a different itinerary with the Harmony & deck 17!
  14. I have 5:30pm Giovannis booked already w/ confirmation on Nov 22, 2020 Oasis sailing so it must be a glitch.
  15. If I post pictures of Duval Street this holiday weekend the 3rd page of predictions will all read 2021 and beyond!
  16. Same here re: Thanksgiving. We look forward to Thanksgiving week on an Oasis class ship every year. It’s really going to be a strange feeling not being on a ship during this time but I don’t have much faith either in 2020.
  17. What’s your best guess on a date when RC will sail again in any way shape or form with paying guests? My gut tells me: April 2021
  18. Absolutely disgusting is right! I would welcome the total elimination of the Windjamner and replace it with something more sanitary. There’s nothing more gross then watching people grab food with bare hands and then deciding they no longer want it and put it back for some poor unfortunate soul to eat. Pre or Post COVID19 still not a fan.
  19. Well it was peaceful down here the last few months with everything shut down. I would guess it may happen again. Most of the locals want tourists out (I don’t get that considering it’s a tourist driven economy). I have seen it all down here even this evening with the “ordinance” in place there were people w/o masks in the bars.
  20. Let’s see how this goes this weekend. I will report back as KW is my weekend home. Last weekend there was not a mask to be seen inside any of the bars. I don’t frequent Duval Street but over the years based on what I have seen, there are no rules.
  21. I have my doubts any one of the big 3 lines could last until 2022 w/o sailing. I don’t think they make it out of 2020 personally. It’s not out of the question that the RC Blog morphs into a tribute site where we all post about our pre-COVID19 experiences before the industry went bust. Sad but not out of the question.
  22. Wow when this whole mess started I thought we may have a chance with a Thanksgiving sailing! I’m doubtful we sail in 2020 at this point.
  23. NCL just extended through September.
  24. What are the security personnel really going to do though? You can start putting people on cruise ship jail for violations but at the end of the day whether anyone wants to believe it or not it’s all about money. Safety will be preached as a means to get people cruising again and back to making the money. Waiters and bartenders will not effectively enforce safety.
  25. I was in Key West this weekend and it’s basically the 2nd week after we have welcomed tourists & the first weekend that the bars were officially open for business. Everywhere you look (including US1 entry into Key West) there were signs “must wear mask and social distancing required in Key West”. Most of the restaurants were masks on until you sit at your table. Now I can tell you for fact that there were packed bars with no masks and no social distancing on Duval Street Fri & Sat pm because I saw it with my own eyes. I wonder what will happen on the cruise ships? It was basically business as usual in Key West.
