  1. Good point. We just booked a cruise a few weeks ago and for some reason my wife booked a refundable one (based on talking to the travel agent). It had a line called addition fee (or something like that) and it was 700-800. I did get her to go back to the TA the next day and change it to non refundable
  2. Our oldest needed wheelchair assistance, but we used a collapsible one. We looked at accessible rooms in the past, but never booked one. don't recall there ever being a prices difference. We traveled with a couple who needed an accessible room, there was no real difference in price between their cabin and ours. I did a few mock bookings with an accessible vs non and I'm not seeing a big difference in price, actually one out of Florida to the Bahamas was 300 less for the accessible room. Is the non accessible room a "you pick your cabin" or is it a "guaranteed cabin"?
  3. When we were on Wonder, they had something similar (not a royal up bid), but an upgrade offer to an over the water cabana (at an 80% discount) from the beach bed we got. They either texted us or it popped up on the app the morning we got into PDCC. Better to let people bid on it than sit empty
  4. I usually bring a few of those when we go on the older ships
  5. I seen this my last few cruises. To make it even more interesting on our last cruise the bartender threw in a couple of free drinks if I bought the card.
  6. Benefit to the connecting room is the 2nd bathroom
  7. Explorer 2012 out of Bayonne to Bermuda
  8. I just crossed the border a few weeks ago for a cruise, no issues at all (going either way). Border agent seemed to be more interested talking about my cruise (do I like cruising, can I give him any tips, any recommendations) than the usual what am I bringing in.
  9. They should name the next ship after him
  10. Ahh, so it's not just me After our cruise last week our youngest kid has 54 points, but his status is gold. Go into his account, literally below where it's says he's gold it says he has 54 points. As somebody who writes backend systems, kind of mind boggling how bad royal's IT is
  11. As mentioned above, go for what gives you that 2nd bathroom. Just got off the Radiance and had adjoining. That 2nd bathroom came in handy many times on the cruise
  12. We docked at Roataan a few days ago and had that excursion booked. Definitely correct, couldn’t hold the sloths but we’re able to be near them. Before going on the tour, the tour company made sure we were aware and made us sign off that that they told us
  13. For me I find it depends on the ship class. Find the Oasis class a little warmer than the others. In any case I always pack a hoodie (even in summer) just be prepared
  14. 7 night Italy/Croatia cruise
  15. A comparison between DCL and RCL (or any other cruise line) is kind of misguided if it doesn't take into account the cost of the cruise, which is massive (a lot of comparisons seem to want to ignore that). Case in point I was just comparing a cruise between the two lines for a future trip (one couple asked about going on Disney). The cruises were leaving the same time of year, for what I could get on DCL for a balcony room we could get a grand suite on the Oasis and still have a $1000 left over for other things. If you compare DCL suite with an RCL suite for the same price, your getting into a star class on RCL
  16. Well, it is in the cruise contract they can change ports. I'm no cruise aficionado, that seems to be common knowledge, especially if you've been on multiple cruises
  17. We've shopped at DI a few times. I tell my wife only spend what your prepared to lose. If we were going to spent that much, I'd be doing it with a store near home. You didn't notice until you got home that's far too late, you should have looked at the paperwork before you paid. Looking at it from DI's perspective, you are some random person making a claim that would be difficult to impossible to prove. DI is usually pretty packed whenever we walk by, Sam probably deals with 100's of people a day when the ships are in, wouldn't expect him to remember a specific sale from weeks earlier
  18. This thread has me looking at Cuban weekend getaways
  19. Trying to remember when I was on the Anthem, kind of remember the kids having to share a pullout sofa. Have to agree, probably a translation issue. Interestingly if I select France as the country to book from, when I go to the room selection the legend itself is in English.
  20. Booked this for our upcoming Radiance cruise.
  21. Agree that by now Royal should have some system in place to address it (like chalking a tire in a parking lot). We've been fortunate that the last 2 cruises (Wonder/Symphony) we had no issue getting a great seat whenever we went down by the pool or solarium. Overall the passengers seemed to be respecting the rules of no hogging. Our next cruise in March is on a smaller ship, not holding my breath we'll as lucky.
  22. Dislike it and wish they'd stop. When we first started cruising I only remember it being the last night (or maybe lobster night). The last few cruises they been doing it at least 3 nights per cruise. The waiters I've had seem to be somewhat embarrassed having to do it. I guess the good news is the last 2 cruise our table has been around a corner in a more secluded area of the MDR, so we don't see it and can vaguely hear it
  23. My wife was showing me some pictures from that cruise, seemed to get hit hard
  24. My wife has purchased jewelry a few times. My condition to her was if she wants something expensive, we'll buy it at the jewelry store near our house that has been in business for 70 years. If she wants something on the ship or island only spend money your willing to lose
