  1. As mentioned above, there are benefits to using a TA. In a more general note, I would never order anything over the phone for this exact reason (ok, maybe a pizza) unless I already had an established relationship. I either do it in person where I get an immediate receipt or via the web where I can screen shots
  2. I find business aren't really up front about those thing, my first trip caught me off guard. Interestingly I took the family to Buffalo in earlier December and on checkin to a hotel was told I had to pay a security deposit (I'm now 50). Nothing mentioned when I booked and it was a hotel chain I stay at a lot and never had that before. Definitely wasn't happy. On a ship it's not like you can sneak off it at the end though. Looking at my last cruise contract they do mention security surcharges in the fine print, but they don't specifiy if/when they apply
  3. I've always go in the at least the day before and stay withing 30 minutes of the terminal. Having said that I have kicked myself for not going in a few days earlier to explore the port
  4. Never had it on any of my cruises, but then again I didn't start cruising until I was in my late 30's. I know when I was under 25 I'd get hit with those whenever I traveled, even for business.
  5. Which town? Wainfleet? Crystal Beach? Thorold? Pelham?
  6. My one son got a tour of the kitchen many years ago, I believe the chefs gave him one, have to check where he put it
  7. We only have the one account for myself and the wife. If you worried about he e-muster on the phone, when you go to do it it asks you to select all in your party who are watching
  8. Would have loved to do certain legs of that trip, hopefully Royal does in again in another 5+years so I could go
  9. We used the MDR quite a bit on our last cruise (never used it before). I actually quite like it. In terms of selection, for what I eat for breakfast I say it’s pretty much equal.
  10. While I'm sorry to hear this happened, your ire is misdirected. RCL is not at fault, nor could they do anything. Given privacy laws they wouldn't be able to inquire what was wrong, in the end that's up to your wife to inquire at customs. Royal can't deal with immigration issue for it's passengers.
  11. I find their pricing to be a head scratcher at times. Our one cruise with the kids it was cheaper (about $100) to book 2 adjoining balconies with two people each as opposed to one balcony with 4 people. Went with that, bonus is it gave us the 2nd bathroom
  12. my kids always wore sneakers to the mdr at that age
  13. Will be interested in the new menu assuming they don't go weird on it. In term of dining taking 120 minutes, never even cam close to that. Usually we're out in roughly an hour if it's me and my wife, maybe 75 minutes if the kids come. Having said that we do usually know what we're going to order before we arrive. One observation on my last cruise is how busy the wait staff are. In our case we were done in close to 45 minutes many nights. We would be getting our desert when the table beside us were still working on their appetizers (even thought we got there at the same time). Only difference is their waiter had all their tables full, for ours we were the only table to show up most nights
  14. Yep, have to agree. Don't even attempt it. If that's the only option are 9:15 am flights, would be better to relax getting off the ship, get a hotel in Orlando and leave the next day
  15. I’ve driven across 6 times since early summer, never been asked if I’m vaxxd. Can’t speak for flying. They don’t really check
  16. Seeing I haven't been on all them, I'll with with "not enough"
  17. Wife and I seen that last night. Definitely take the the free cruise and then book another one while onboard
  18. I've only been on one cruise that was rerouted for a medical emergency. Having said that I am an early riser. I'm usually on the walking track or sitting on the balcony when the ships dock. When I'm overlooking the dock side, it's not uncommon to see an ambulance there taking somebody off as soon the ship is tied up, last cruise I counted about 6 times (that's just randomly looking over the side). If the roles were reversed and you needed a hospital, would you rather them turn around to go to a hospital in Miami or would you rather them continue on and go to one in Haiti
  19. I’d say whatever you have or their comfortable with. If they have a collar golf shirt that is more than fine. I wouldn’t purchase formal attire for them (unless you really want to).
  20. Watched the interview earlier in the day. Said that when he “came to” he was in the water with no boat in sight. His story makes no sense
  21. Props to the medical staff on the Jewel. What they did is difficult to do in a hospital with a neonatal unit. What they did is that times 100.
  22. If you live near a passport office you can probably expedite it, but will cost you.
  23. Just got off a 14 day recently. While I agree with the windjammer not changing thing up, I wouldn't say the food overall was bad or even noticed a drop in quality. In the MDR the chefs were experimenting with food combos (confirmed by our waiter) and some just didn't work, but then again there are probably very few > 7 night cruises, so they're trying not to repeat. The only real night the food wasn't good was the first night in the MDR, the food was dry, but that seemed to be more of a mess up by the RCL as opposed to the chefs. The two dining times were supposed to be 5pm and 8pm (which was the time when we looked at our paperwork). For some reason they mistakenly printed 5:30 and 8:30 on everybody's seapass card. The dining room was expecting everybody to show up at 5 and nobody did until after 5:30. Poor maitre'd looked very stressed that night, telling everybody they could come at 5 as the seapass time is incorrect
  24. Was there a few weeks ago for two days (darn hurricane). As others mention plenty of chairs, all with umbrellas. If I had to estimate I’d say at most 20% were occupied
  25. Myself I have no issue with this. Outside of when sailing with kids and needing the Pullman bed setup, the second one we don't really need.
