I stayed in hotel YVE right across the street from the port last year in February. I bought the hotel dirt cheap on a Black Friday sale and it was a very nice place for one night. We walked around Miami the Friday before our cruise and also again in the morning. I woke up early in the morning and watched all the ships arriving from our hotel window. We took a Lyft to the port, it was maybe $5.

Drink average price now $14?
need2cruz replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I agree with you that the price of alcohol seams outrageous! We don't drink, but if we did, we'd probably be looking at all of the cruise lines prices very closely. I don't agree with you on the prices of cruises without alcohol being higher on Royal Caribbean, though. Each cruise line really caters to different people and what they are looking for. We are looking at the entertainment that Royal offers that you can't get on other ships. You will not see an aqua show, ice shows or a broadway show on the other lines. When you factor in entertainment onboard, I believe Royal is priced very reasonably. I guess you need to book the line for what you are seeking onboard. I do live in the US, though, and don't have the exchange rate to factor in that you do. -
Will I make my flight? - Fort Lauderdale
need2cruz replied to RadCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I was surprised at how many people were taking this flight from our ship. It was obvious at the time because that was back when you had to wear the vaccinated bracelets. We had green bracelets showing that we were vaccinated and we saw a lot of other people waiting at the airport gate that had these bracelets on, too. -
Will I make my flight? - Fort Lauderdale
need2cruz replied to RadCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I flew last February out of Miami airport on a Saturday morning after a cruise on Symphony that left at 9:50AM. We did not have TSA pre check at that time. We self disembarked and were off the ship by 7:15AM. Walked completely the wrong direction for where the Lyfts were (it's opposite the taxis). Then, got stuck in a lot of air port traffic. Walked into the airport around 8 am, quickly checked a bag. But got stuck in a full 1 hour regular security line. We still made it to our terminal with prob 20 minutes to spare. -
Access to Children's Stateroom
need2cruz replied to OrlandoDad's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Although I have never gotten the extra card myself, the card would have the stateroom number of the stateroom that it opens. The stateroom number is printed on each key card. That way you will know which door it opens. On a side note, we did have our three teen boys in an interior room across from our balcony on our last cruise. I wish I would have gotten the extra card. That would have saved minutes waiting for them to answer the door every time we knocked and waited! -
Labadee is my favorite "island' destination that Royal goes to. It's natural beauty just can't be beat. I wish more itineraries went here. BTW, if we are going to start using proper terms like peninsula for our beloved "islands" that aren't technically islands, then from now on we can't call ships "her/she" anymore either.

SOS Boardwalk vs Central Park Balcony Cabins
need2cruz replied to Taraks Travels's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We sailed out of Miami on Symphony last Feb and are from the cold Midwest, too. We absolutely think it is worth the extra money to have ocean view balcony. Both me and my husband enjoy looking and sitting out on the balcony, especially when it's freezing in February back home. We always have the curtain open on our balcony. The privacy you get with an ocean view is worth the extra money. We would not enjoy waking up on our balcony and seeing other cabins across from us all the time. Yes, while in port you might have another ship docked next to you, but it's a small percentage of the time in your cabin. -
Harmony OTS show changes for 8 day versus 7 day
need2cruz replied to RCLblue10's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I don't know if the NFL games are important to you. They are to us on our cruise. It's playoffs on the Saturday and Sunday of your cruise. I'm pretty sure a couple of those venues will be airing the playoffs. I'm sure it hasn't been determined yet. I was on Symphony last year for Super Bowl and they had "The Big Game" (that's what they call it) in both the aqua theater and main theater live. I have a cruise on Wonder on 1/29 and am looking forward to seeing both AFC and NFC championship games on board. -
Confusion about Wonder's escape room
need2cruz replied to Brandis's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I won't be on Wonder until January, but I decided to try to see if it's open now by checking out the current list of activities on the app. i went ahead and clicked on the calendar at the top. "Change ship dates", Switched my sailing to the current sailing, "activities", then "games and competitions", then clicked on "the Royal Society of Puzzle". It says it's running every day and the times are listed under "show more". It says, "This activity is held on the Escape Room on Deck 14 Forward next to Adventure Ocean". Says there is, "Capacity restriction minimum of 6 guests and maximum of 12 guests". Price available before finalizing. I would think this means it has to be open. -
Cruise Door Magnet or cruise T-shirt for family
need2cruz replied to RCLblue10's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I had no idea magnets could be stolen. We've had both personalized and not personalized and have never had them stolen. Our last cruise we had different ocean animals that represented each of the 5 of us but not personalized. We would move them around on the doors multiple times each day. I had no idea that magnet thieves were a thing. -
Unfortunately, OP will probably never see this. Their profile says that they are a "one and done" complainer. They haven't logged back onto this site in over 3 years, that same day as they posted.....

The paper ID in Ohio does have a photo. It is your actual license until the card comes in the mail.

Thats unfortunate. We've done 2 cruises this year and we have gotten turndown service every single night with towel animals, cleaning, printed cruise compass for next day, extras, etc... Did you speak to the stateroom attendant as to why you weren't getting turndown service?

Allure of the Seas Activities Limited?
need2cruz replied to JNS123's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I think you and your wife will enjoy going to the FlowRider and sitting in the observation area while your kids are trying it out. It's fun to watch people trying to do it and cheering them on. You can take the video of the kids while they're on. Same thing for the Zip line. You will be able to watch the kids come across. Maybe you'll want to do the mini golf as a family. My husband and I took our3 teen boys on their first cruise this summer. We enjoyed both activities together and activities apart from one another. We always ate dinner in MDR as a family, but after that our boys would go to the gym. My husband and I would go to the production shows and game shows. Sometimes the teens would join us, sometimes they didn't. We did all excursions together as a family. All 5 of us enjoyed our cruise, sometimes doing things together and sometimes apart. -
Liberty of the seas - Outlets in the room?
need2cruz replied to Bowen's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We were on Liberty in July. We brought a regular outlet expander and an EU expander for each of our rooms. That was plenty, even for 3 teens with multiple devices to charge overnight from ear buds to phones… -
Defiantly option 1. But you didn't mention where you are flying from or if they were both non-stop flights leaving from the same place. For example, we live right next to Cleveland airport. In December, weather can delay and cancel flights. The more stops, the more chance of delays and canceled flights.

Safe to rent a car in Roatan and Mexico?
need2cruz replied to plasticmaster's topic in Shore Excursions
I wouldn't rent a car in any of those places. I laugh in Roatan when I see the driver only slow down at the one stop sign on the main road. My husband asked, "Is the stop sign optional here"? The driver said, "If I came to a full stop, I'd probably get rear ended". We had to drive around an accident with a car and a couple tourists on rented scooters in Roatan this past July. Our driver told us that it happens all the time with tourists, not familiar with driving there. -
This is what we do for cash. It's the only reason we go to the casino. You go to the slot machine. Tell it you want to bet a certain sum of money. Let's say you need $200. It charges your sea pass card $200 then you hit "cash out" (instead of gambling). It will print you a voucher for $202 or $204 (if you had a couple of C&A dollars of free play loaded by RC). You take the voucher to the cashier and they give you cash in any denomination you want.

I sailed Symphony this past Feb, but the Western itinerary. We used the surf and stream and it worked well for us. We have cameras set up in our house to watch that our teens were getting ready for school and not doing anything crazy. The videos from both the inside and the outside Ring camera always worked when we checked.

All Access Ship Tours Are Back!
need2cruz replied to sailaway_jason's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Thanks. I guess it's not available for my cruise. The only "onboard activities" listed are Casita rentals for either port or sea days. I'll keep checking. My husband has always wanted to do one of these tours and we never have. -
All Access Ship Tours Are Back!
need2cruz replied to sailaway_jason's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I don't see it listed as an option in the cruise planner for my cruise on Wonder in Jan. What is it listed under? Is it an excursion? -
I didn’t have the key on Liberty, but I did have a 10:30 am boarding time for this ship a few weeks ago. There was a guy named Tom ushering people into the correct line. You should be able to come to the suite//key line at 10:30, I say get there then.

Welcome to the forums. I've used the public transportation bus in Grand Cayman. But we used it to get to a resort on 7 mile beach and stay there. This was back in 2019 and the bus was just a few dollars. We enjoyed being on the really small "buses". They really were really vans that looked like VW buses. We enjoyed talking to some locals on the trips. Their bus system operated a little like a taxi, where they could take you off of a regular route. We stayed on the regular route, though. For the amount of places you want to go, I am guessing either familiarize yourself with the bus routes 1st, or consider using a taxi service. I have no experience with taxis there. Hopefully, someone else can give you some better advice. Iv'e only been to Grand Cayman a few times and all the other times we did cruise ship excursions.

I was on a land vacation in Cancun in November of 2009, when a hurricane came to our resort. It made the trip awful. While we were stuck in our room unable to do anything at the all -inclusive resort, we watched the weather channel on tv. They were talking about the "poor cruise passengers" unable to dock there and how they were diverting them to Jamaica instead. I was convinced from that moment on, cruising was a much better vacation because the ship will just divert you to another place.
