  1. Maybe... There have been VLOGs posted discussing dinners taking 3 hours blamed of reduced number of servers and kitchen staff.
  2. I am retired. My professional life was 35 years of software development but mostly software quality assurance or software testing. My experience tells me Royal Caribbean software issues are the result of poor testing. Either RCL has tasked the developers to do their own testing or their test team is not so good. Developers are usually pretty good about testing their new features but terrible regression testers (testing the stuff that used to work still does). Testing is considered by management to be a lesser skilled or entry level position. The staff hired is not always cream of the crop.
  3. Price is the main negative factor for me. I'm CHEAP!! I say this after getting half a tank of gas for $57.00! I'm still in shock!
  4. I hope I wasn't misunderstood. I wasn't suggesting a loyalty ambassador could be coerced to pad your points. If you were joking, WHOOSH right over my head!!!
  5. A visit to the Loyalty Ambassador aboard the ship can speed up points awarded to your account. Besides you make a new friend too!
  6. IMHO they should drop the word "Taxes" and just call them Fees.
  7. The surveys can influence the response. If you have to answer additional questions based on a less then perfect rating, some folks will then offer subsequent ratings of perfect to avoid the hassle. When I was employed in the corporate world, if we rated our managers poorly we would be placed into focus groups with the goal determining ways to improve our managers. This was work above and beyond our regular assigned tasks that had to be completed on time. We learned quickly to rate management highly whether they deserved it or not!

  9. We are staying downtown at Embassy Suites (using Hilton points) because there are more choices for restaurants and closer to the port. I have read Seattle traffic jams can be legendary and I would not want to get caught in one from an airport hotel to the port when we have a checkin time window to meet.
  10. This is not a complaint. It is a mystery to me how taxes are calculated. In December last year we were able to get a substantial reduction in the cost of our B2B cruises booked for August, 2022 via the price guarantee associated with the Cruise With Confidence program. Looking at the first invoice when the cruises were first booked, and then the invoice after the reprice the taxes and port fees stayed the same. I fully understand the port fees being the same amount no matter the cost of the cruise. It is the tax portion of that line item I find curious. Most taxes I am familiar with are calculated as tax rate percentage times the some cost amount. The only thing I can deduce is the taxes paid are based on the full retail cost of the cruise before any and all discounts are applied which seems odd to me . I am happy with the reduction in price so I have never pursued the issue.
  11. It is a sad commentary about how demanding and unfulfilling the lower level hospitality positions really are. I've had some of those jobs when I was a teenager and in college but certainly not on a cruise ship. I have personally witnessed low level managers verbally abuse the servers and bus staff especially at the Windjammer when they are trying their best to keep up with their duties. I have seen fellow passengers treating the staff like crap as well. Pile on the fact that some have left their families back home for months at a time and it is no wonder those positions are hard to fill.
  12. What concerns me is I'm stuck with my Ovation booking as it was mostly paid for by FCCs well past their book by date.

  14. I do not have an answer for you other than re-read the terms and conditions for Air2Sea very carefully to help determine what happens in your case.
  15. Which brings me to my next question. If an Alaskan excursion enters into Canada then returns to the US would one need a new ArriveCAN form completed for a Canadian port of call or cruise termination port?
  16. Our sailing is too far out to complete an ArriveCAN trip entry. Has anyone completed one? Does it have a unique code that could be recorded?
  17. Is there a drink price limit attached to the Crown & Anchor drink vouchers given to Diamond, Diamond+, Pinnacle tier members?
  18. We do check the running balance and charges posted to our account several times through the cruise and definitely the last evening before debarkation day. Otherwise we let the charges be posted to our charge card. I do not like carrying much cash while on vacation (or at home for that matter).
  19. OH MY!! My story exactly. I cancelled a specialty dining and RC issued a credit to my credit card and ALSO deducted that refund amount from my cruise invoice. In the middle of all of this I made final payment for the cruise and their system credited my CC for the dining refund amount as a cruise over payment. Yet when I looked at my reservation, RC said I had a balance equal to the dining refund amount. After several months of trying to get this corrected I was assured (YIKES!) the cruise would not be canceled for non-payment of the full balance. I was told the payments received on record equal the correct amount I was expected to pay. I was also told an IT ticket had been opened but they could not fix the issue. I was in IT for 35 years before retirement. It is not they could not fix the issue. The IT folks don't know what the bug is so they do not know WHAT to fix!
  20. I called and spoke with Canadian ArriveCAN people regarding our Back to Back cruises round trip from Seattle to Alaska with a port of call in Victoria, BC. I asked if we would need a new ArriveCAN form completed for the 2nd cruise. I was told since we are leaving Canada they consider the 2nd cruise a new entry into Canada and we would need to complete a new ArriveCAN form.

Another B2B question: If doing a B2B to Alaska from Seattle we will need to complete the ArriveCAN registration up to 72 hours prior to our embarkation on the first cruise since our last port of call is Victoria, British Columbia. What about the 2nd cruise? We visit Victoria, BC again. Will we need to do it with 72 hours of our 2nd cruise? A complication is we are not purchasing a ZOOM package so we will not have access to the internet.
  22. I believe the assigned checkin time for the 2nd cruise is moot since you will take of the in-person checkin process as part of the B2B procedures
  23. I used to get updated invoices from their automated system when I made a payment. Now I do not nor do I get an initial invoice when I book a cruise. I have used the automated system to get invoices but now I can't do that either. It seems the first time I use the automated system to get an invoice is the last time. After that I am identified as using a travel agent (which I did not) and I have to speak with customer service directly.
  24. They specifically say this tour crosses the US/Canadian border and I have read on Trip Advisor the dog sled camp is in Canada. That particular tour had the dog sled camp cancelled and the tour stayed within the US border. The review was written in Sept. 2021. I am curious if the tour will indeed cross into Canada or will the tour itinerary be changed as last fall Royal Caribbean offers a very similar excursion which also states it will cross border into Canada which we had booked months ago. We have not received any heads up from Royal Caribbean of any tour changes yet..........
