My husband and I are relatively novice cruisers (this will be our third, we get to go once every few years.) Because of the absolutely stupid good deal we got on this one (6 days Western Caribbean, Allure, Jan 30 22) I felt okay getting ocean view instead of a the cheapest option - be nice, we're working hard to be able to afford the fancy stuff
So if I am understanding this right, the cost difference between state rooms is based off of room pricing without discounts? And then your bid is a percentage of that difference, correct? I'm curious because it seems like there is ALWAYS some kind of promotion going on.
I did a mock reservation for this same cruise to see what I might be in for if bidding is an option and the prices are currently way crazy. Like an interior stateroom was ~$400 and an oceanview was ~$2000! Weirder still, a balcony was ~$550. Not sure what is up with that.
It looks like this. The "your bids" is a slider that controls the price. When the price moves on the slider, the pointer on the offer strength reflects the "strength" of your offer. This meter is generally recognized as the high pressure auction meter around here.

What is your typical cost, per person? ( Estimations are great)

Please share your recommendations for travel insurance for an RC cruise.

It is the gremlins! RC changed a port from Labadee to Nassau. I STILL am being offered ALL of the Labadee excursions. Nassau is not even on the LIST of places I can look at excursions for.

Jim,
Welcome to the boards! I know I love to hear about saving money. In fact lots of us do. We have a kinda "mega" thread called Price Drop Flex Have a look at it here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/25656-price-drop-flex/&tab=comments#comment-278018
Join in the fun there!
P.S. Saving money is the BEST!

Not gonna lie. I have already back tracked my final date to be fully vaxed for my kids in time for our cruise. It is the 17th of this month.

This is GREAT news.
We got The Key because it combos some things we would have had to buy separately. 1) Internet, 2) Chops. The clincher priority at ports to get the heck out, is basically free/super cheap after the cost of those purchases.
Added: I have not got this e-mail yet

How much weight or credence should I put into the bid-o-meter? That is, is a "weak" bid according to the bid-o-meter really "weak?" By what standards is it judged "weak?"
This is a great question.

Did you actually go into the Cruise Planner to see the offers? I'm seeing Labadee on the main page of the Cruise Planner, but when I go into the subpages, I see Nassau
EDIT: Ooops... they updated the pages already. Labadee is totally gone
This is from this morning (10/28)
Missing 2- shows my updated itinerary - With Nassau
Missing - Shows the Shore Excursion drop down, no Labadee, but no Nassau either.
Missing 3- Shows the Shore Excursion web page side bar with Day 1, and Day 2 Missing no listing of Nassau.
Missing 4- Shows my Day 3 excursion offering - Labadee (still) on the now Sea Day (Ref Missing 3 list)
Royal Caribbean IT voodoo.

I recently watched a YouTube video by Island Time on how to get in the first boarding group on Carnival. The magical unicorn group 1A. SPOILER: Stay up till midnight and check in as soon as the clock rolls over.
Does this work with Royal Caribbean? Is there a parallel trick? What council can you give me for best results.

This happened on our upcoming Western Caribbean cruise where we cannot port in Grand Cayman and it was switched to Costa Maya and Roatan. Grand Cayman and Jamaica showed up for a couple of weeks on the excursions even though we were not going there and when it did switch to allow reservations in the new ports it still showed the previous ports in the opening screen. It speaks of an older website construction where it is not easy to change the pages.
I'm glad to hear it is not just me. When I go to the excursions in the cruise planner, the check box list on the left side bar is totally missing Day 1 and Day 2, it only has Day 3 forward. Website voodoo.

- @GlassSlipper the vaxx for 5-12 is likely to be coordinated through the schools. Barring resistance I believe the timeline for this vaccine rollout will be better, if not swift.

Labadee is on my landing screen, and has been for a few days. I can still add to my cart and purchase them even. I don't even have Nassau in the excursions by port list. It is not listed on the Shore Excursion side bar check box list either. I wonder if it is because I have kids 6 & 8. I'm hoping to have everyone vaxed by Christmas for this.

I too have the Labadee for Nassau swap. I didn't get the mentioned e-mail (I just looked).
What is annoying about this? In the cruise planner I'm still being offered Labadee excursions and none for Nassau.

Congratulations!
