I don't believe the CDC ever set any capacity limits in the CSO. Just they said they reserved the right to.

It will be interesting to see how they do it. There's really nothing complicated about these cruise terminals, but if nothing else they provide shelter

I think it's nothing more than putting any lack of sailing this summer onto the plates of the cruise lines. "Hey we gave you the instructions you've been begging for, if you can't meet them, not our fault" Despite it being well known the cruise lines see them as obsolete and unworkable.

What, today's statement of "if you try really hard, and really behave and get all your chores done, maybe, just maybe, you can have your toys by mid summer" didn't seem reassuring?

It's a much bigger question than just cruise lines. It's the thought that everything you do in public will be dictated by your having a passport or not. But further discussion outside the scope of cruising isn't necessary for this board.

The question was about a vaccine passport mandate, not voluntarily letting someone (in this case, a cruise line) know you're vaccinated.

It'd be a big part of it. Also there would be a lot of legal challenges to a passport mandate.

if the CDC was going to mandate vaccines, they would have in their CSO update. Instead they just "recommend" one when "available to them" (key wording for youth vaccines, IMO)

That sure seems like a boilerplate type answer from that CDC rep. By definition, mid summer is August. So "hopefully" by then.

If there's a serious push to get cruising going by July 4, you'd need a favorable resolution by the end of the month. So I'd expect action from the cruise lines in the next few days.

Maybe not specifically through L&S, but you could always cancel your existing future reservation, then L&S to that same cabin.

And when an entity files for such an injunction, they'll make sure it's filed where they know they're on favorable terms to get the injunction.

He trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia and Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington before joining the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service and becoming a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) in 1992. His primary research interests are global health and migration with a focus on emerging infections, tropical diseases, and vaccine-preventable diseases in mobile populations. Dr. Cetron has co-authored more than 100 publications. Dr. Cetron has also been a leader in public health emergency preparedness and response activities at CDC and is a graduate of the Harvard School of Public Health & Kennedy School of Government’s National Preparedness Leadership Institute. For over 20 years, he has conducted epidemiologic research globally, developed global health policy and led domestic and international outbreak investigations including high profile international emergency responses to emerging infectious disease outbreaks [Anthrax bioterrorism 2001, SARS epidemic 2003, U.S. Monkeypox 2003, Hurricane Katrina/ Rita 2005, H1N1 influenza pandemic 2009, Haiti Earthquake / Cholera Responses 2010-11, Japan Tsunami-Radiation 2011, H7N9 2013, and MERS CoV 2012-3, Coronavirus Response (2013), Unaccompanied Children Central America (2014), Ebola Response (2014) & Zika Virus (2015)]. Specifically, the day the July one is canceled, call them up and say you want to book the Thanksgiving cruise and they'll put a hold on it for you until your FCCs come in.
