"The couple does emphasize, however, this was not the fault of their server, who was hard-working, kind, and attentive during the meal. This is a tech problem and a communication failure, not the fault of the ship’s crew." What? It's absolutely the fault of the server who wasn't paying attention to what they were doing. Was it an innocent mistake? Sure, but certainly not a tech problem. I commonly get 4-5 authorization charges per cruise.

Embassy Suites near the airport. $25 taxi ride to the port from there.
-
Unless you're ordering some premium liquor, just about everything is $13 or less, which is the threshold for the voucher.

A concierge (Dudley), currently on Mariner, who went way out of his way to ensure there were gluten free appetizers for my wife in the suite lounge. A suite lounge bartender, ( @Matt remembers him on Serenade) who went all over the ship looking for PowerAde for my son. An MDR assistant waiter who we saw a lot in the Windjammer, too, who bought my son a toy when she found out it was his birthday (he turned 3 on a cruise). It's been a long time so I don't remember her name.

1st Timer Cruiser View - Please don't judge!
smokeybandit replied to Dannyboy72's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Pretty consistent summary with cruises I've taken. Kids club has been fine, and while restrictions are all gone, the programming hasn't returned to its normal themed structure. Lots of new crew members manning kids clubs, too. -
No More Masks for Crew Members?
smokeybandit replied to JeffB's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
https://www.crew-center.com/royal-caribbean-international-eases-mask-policy-crew I thought crew had been mask free in crew areas since like February when the CDC said it was ok -
That's how I see it, too.

Galveston Embarkation/Disembarkation question
smokeybandit replied to AandD's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Galveston was the most organized check-in process I saw in my 4 post-restart cruises. -
As long as the cruise isn't canceled/delayed, no real need for an announcement. Those on board will get the info they need about changing ports of call

All Included Fare Option
smokeybandit replied to AspiringCruisePlanner's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
And it's not just those who don't drink. Many people might have a glass or two of wine with dinner and that's it. No need to pay for a package for that. -
Based on JVF's limited commentary on Kay, it seems like that cruise will just follow the typical 3-day cruise route. Just hover around the US/MX border for sea days then go to Ensenada maybe an extra day.

You're likely going to pack too much Don't feel as if you need to get the beverage package or dining package. Pack common OTC meds covering head to butt conditions. You never know what you'll need, and if you need it and don't have it, it may be tough to find. And these days you don't want to get ship medical involved unless absolutely necessary.

All Included Fare Option
smokeybandit replied to AspiringCruisePlanner's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I have never booked a beverage package, dining package or internet package. I'm glad I don't have to pay extra for any of that to be included. That's why those packages exist, for people to buy separately. -
Any unvaccinated post Sept 5 cruisers want to update?

And which pet cat did you swab for your test? -
Internet - share a plan with husband ok?
smokeybandit replied to Eyeonhevn's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Just think of it as the old school land line. If someone's on the phone in the house, you can't make a call. You'd have to wait for them to disconnect, then you can log in. (or in this case, log in and kick your husband off) -
The 8 month old pinnacle probably behaved as well as some 78 yr old pinnacles I've seen I kid, I kid! Sort of?

Kay will be a tough one since it's projected to ride the coast. I'd think Navigator will have to go out to sea more, then follow the storm (as it dissipates) from behind
-
No, Howth, Ireland. We went to belfast, too. Wasn't impressed.
-
The only time you'd need to be concerned about weather is if a hurricane would threaten your debarkation. Once at sea it might disrupt your ports of call, but they'll keep you in calm(ish) water
-
They won't cancel simply due to rain. So don't worry about that at all.

A lot depends on the bed your son is sleeping in. Sofa? Pullman? Etc?
