It's one thing to take an independent tour with a company reliant on cruise passengers. It's quite another to take a tour where cruise passengers are a rarity and they don't respect the importance to get you back to your ship on time.

If the system lets you do it, do it. It shouldn't be an issue.

Why is 11:30 too late? If you show up at 11:30 you'll be on board 15 minutes later, or less.

Last time I had an 11:30 check in I was on board at 10:45.

The intent of the food rule is not to bring anything that could be infected by bugs not native to wherever you're going, so think fresh foods likes fruits, veggies or meat. Prepackaged food is never an issue.
