  1. I was on Oasis last month and the 11-11 was in effect
  2. I like mid-ship or closer to back elevators. Convenient and less motion. Even if we are close to elevator we never hear noise from elevators. But I try to stay clear of the blank spots on map that are crew work areas.
  3. I would suggest you get a small roller bag. We have one, as a backpack will not work for us with our shoulder or back issues.
  4. We are taking 3 grandchjildren on a cruise. I really was hoping to use the KSF, but it requires 2 paying adults in same cabin. And we choose 2 connecting cabins for a second bathroom. Thus 1 adult in each cabin, so the KSF did not apply. But it was still less money to get those 2 cabins that getting a suite. And some suites still only had 1 bathroom. All and all we are happy with our selection.
  5. We go in the Windjammer all the time to play cards when food is not being served. You just use the side doors, if the main entrances are closed.. We will go in late afternoon, and sometimes be there til dinner opened. At that time we usually left, or maybe have a little appetizer! haha But, I have no issue using the table in there whenever I wanted.
  6. On a recent cruise, the other couple we were traveling with did not have AC in their cabin. They informed cabin stewart and maintenance came right away and fixed it. It is always best to address any problems while still on the cruise. Even if you need to contact several departments or bring it up more than once. Guest services should have contacted maintenance. But if things are not taken care of right away, or you are told they cannot do anything, be sure to escalate your concerns. Ask for supervisor. Not having AC is a big thing! Sorry this happened to you.
  7. Usually the main shows in the Royal Theater do not require reservations. At least they haven't been required on the few cruises we have taken in past 6 months. Other shows you can always get in on stand by without a problem. They were never full. From ice skating to comedy shows. The only show that sells out fast and hard to get into to is Aqua show, if you are on an Oasis class. But those too had stand by availability. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are a diamond member talk with the representative in the diamond lounge, they can often get you reservations.
  8. Symphony for sure. I do transatlantic every year and always go for the newer larger ships. Way more to do, more dining options., etc. I really enjoy the central park balconies too. Personally I would not even consider Enchantment for a transatlantic cruise.
  9. We are taking 3 minor grandchildren on a cruise this year and used the form provided by RC. Both parents sign and have it notarized.
  10. I agree, do only 1 excursion per port. Explore on your own with any extra time. And since you have not done a cruise before, there is so much to do on the ship itself. And tiring yourself out all day in port, at least for me, makes it hard to enjoy all the food and shows in the evenings.
  11. OK, didn't realize that as I do not gamble much.
  12. Can you just do Back-to-Back cruises. You can then plan as long as you would like.
  13. No worries. Lots can happen between now and September. And there will be a room for you. Suites often sell out fast.
  14. Thank you. That helps. We are taking 3 grandkids on a cruise this year. 2 will be 11, and 1 will be 14. It was mainly the 14 yr old I was thinking about.
  15. Can minors use the new messaging system?
  16. We were on Oasis for 2 weeks last month and could not get a comedy show reservation. But there was always seats available for stand-by.
  17. we had a table for 2 for traditional dining. You usually chose dining table size when you book your dining time. If not, just ask on first night and it will not be a problem
  18. About 4 weeks, but not sure when they were actually available to reserve
  19. I booked shows on Symphony for Jan 28th cruise, on the app.
  20. That is the hotel we stayed at, Hotel Rialto. Fabulous location. Can walk anywhere. We got a private taxi boat from airport to hotel and then another private water taxi from hotel to Tronchetto.. I cannot remember the name of water taxi co. right now, but will try and look it up. But.....it was the one recommended by Hotel Rialto when I emailed them about transportation. So you might try contacting them. There were 4 in our party and I think it was about $175 each way.
  21. Yes, you can book all of you on 1 policy. And rates basically are based on age, length of trip, and amount of money you want to insure. I do not insure my flights as they are just credited back to me if I cancel. I usually cover the cruise amount and hotels. I have my travel agent book it for me. But you can do it yourself.
  22. It has changed. Thanks. I booked my Jan 28th cruise shows last night. Was great to be able to get that done before cruise.
  23. I book either balcony, jr suite or grand suite. The larger ships will have many more places to see or visit, more shows, and more eating options. If you get a cabin near mid-ship you would not have to walk the entire ship length for anything. And being close to elevator will not having to walk as much. I personally wrecked my knee and used a cane on a cruise. It was harder to get around but was fine. My favorite ships are Oasis class. And I have been on every single RC ship. Except Wonder, that I have booked this year. Whatever you plan am sure your mother will enjoy it.
