  1. when using the discount coupon you need to specify “I’m using my Emerald discount (or whatever level) for the wine” . Also be aware there is an 18% gratuity added -I believe- do your 20% off essentially does nothing. Additionally you should check your onboard account via the app or the TV and if there are charges you need to dispute you do it onboard at guest services.
  2. There are always people who win the bids in the Facebook group for my sailings. No one mentions what they bid. i always check out the bid costs and decide against it. I am very particular about my cabin location and feel any money spent for an upgrade could be spent elsewhere.
  3. All of the above, plus, if you want more than the standard poses make sure to suggest it. I left my young adult children at a photographer and told them to “have fun with it”. Their best shot was when one of them jumped across the arms of the other 3.
  4. I’ve heard nothing on reciprocity, but that would be nice! I get zero offers, all of my comps are “earned” onboard. hubby did get a blue chip offer, via mail, the choices were distant (LA, etc) ports. The last time we sailed celebrity was last year July and we sat together with identical bets. Interesting that he got an offer and I did not. did you see where cruises that begin in one month and end in the next-the cruise list will be based on when your cruise ends. Ex sailing begins august 27 and ends in Sept the offer code for the instant onboard certificate will begin 2309…. NOT 2308….
  5. The chatter is people are reaching out to the Celebrity Blue chip program to ask if they have any offers or will give them any offers. Many people have been successful but they’ve not reported how many points they typically earn on a cruise, which I imagine would be a deciding factor if they will give you a comp.
  6. The closest thing to a milkshake on ships without Johnny rockets would be a mudslide. You can ask for a virgin mudslide. I think it’s made with ice milk. If you want it more “chocolatey “ ask for extra chocolate syrup. Not all bars will make them. My daughter has gotten them at the pool bar and during dinner.
  7. I feel like this has been in the fine print, but has not been employed. Are they now doing this?
  8. The online check in lists approved documents. I don’t recall seeing “notarized photocopy of birth certificate”. see about getting another original birth certificate or reach out to your state representative for help on pushing your passport through.
  9. Typically they are not checking. Does it look like a wine bottle? You should be fine
  10. In May and June they were letting people into the terminal building without looking at set sail passes. They had separate seating for Key, suites/pinnacle and then general seating.
  11. I had this happen for a Baltimore sailing, but the pass in the app never changed. When I arrived at the port they said there was no such thing as a 10:30 check in, despite what my set sail pass said. Whatever. .bring the printed pass and see what happens.
  12. You book the things that need reservations in the cruise planner via the website when you log in. Click on entertainment. As for non bookable items those are subject to change until a few days prior to your sailing when they should populate into the app.
  13. I can speak to onboard…it’s US dollars for gaming.
  14. If you can speak with the waiter as to what he needs to do ,”relax, fill water, repeat order” -whatever it is, that could be helpful. Additionally where is his supervisor? He needs to be addressed. We had a bad experience on Symphony and FINALLY the head waiter (? Boss for the area) pulled our assistant waiter for some extra training and, unfortunately our main waiter suddenly injured his foot and so we had a new main waiter for our last 3 nights of a 2 week cruise.
  15. I booked for Alaska in May. I'm checking pricing and airlines. Jetblue has ONE flight direct each way for Vancouver (I'm doing a back to back -begin and end in Vancouver) and it seems decent enough price wise, but of course, if that one flight cancels that's the end of that. (will fly in 2 days early) Air Canada seems to nickel and dime. Has anyone flown them? Thoughts? Any recommendations to perhaps fly into another hub, maybe stay a night and then take a flight to VAncouver. Input on airline reliablity. Any other helpful info. Hotel recommendations would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
  16. The first month I have nothing booked, nor anything that "bled into the month". Time to get work done around the house!
  17. I’ll be on this sailing. Still no check in available to select. I found it interesting we could only use a passport for the paperwork portion. I’m so used to checking off naturalization papers to be able to select my time and going back and fixing it later.
  18. Here are my experiences with D+ Internet assistant is typically available a few hours in the morning and then 5-8pm. I am not a morning person so my interactions took place at 5pm since I do early dining and then am typically off to entertainment. you can have 2 24 hour passes but the internet person activated the 24 hour pass when I asked for the pass at 5pm with plans to start it at noon the next day, so quite a few hours were gone. When I went back to complain -I had made it clear I wanted to be able to activate my pass, I was told I was wrong and had 24 hours. Again I stated I wanted to be able to start my 24 hour pass at noon the next day, was told I could and when I logged in I had lost 19 hours. So I took a pic and went back again to complain-it was useless. next sailing, different ship I inquired about the 24 hour pass as opposed to 1 block of 2 days and was told the pass is activated when they give it to me. Very disappointing. the pass shows on your phone as a 2 day block of time, or I should say 48 hours, which begins when you activate it. On most ships I’ve had my own 1 week of internet purchased and the assistant gave my 2 days D+ to my spouse, but only 1 day at a time, necessitating him to go to the assistant again. Last week on Allure they would not give my spouse my 2 days and instead added it to my account on top of my 1 week package necessitating me to share my password. It was essentially 1 person 2 devices-which hubby failed to understand and knocked me off the internet when he went from his phone to his iPad. He finally understood to log off his phone to use his iPad. I’ve no idea why they wouldn’t just move my 3 days to him as I’ve had that done. If each person is D+ you can see if the assistant would move the days to the one person who you want to have them. If they won’t, you can each activate your own 2 day package-staggered-and then just give the username and password to the person you want to give the 2 days to. Each persons block of time is 48 hours. Using the chart supplied above shows you the idea regarding how to activate the days to maximize the 48 hour passes. BTW-technically your days are not transferable. The work around is creating and sharing your username and password when you activate your account.
  19. I’m sorry that happened. When I had a room that smelled like smokestack smoke I complained and they actually sent the stateroom supervisor to take a sniff. The person denied smelling anything. I mentioned the smell was giving me a headache and then they sent another supervisor for a sniff test and they too couldn’t smell anything but they moved me. I know darn well they could smell something or they never would have moved me. I wasn’t kicking and screaming or threatening to write letters, but was thrilled they did move me. I recommend if it happens again to request a supervisor to come to your cabin. If the smell has you feeling ill say so. As for post cruise complaints, I’d write a detailed email to MBayley (CEO of Royal) including your list of dates/times (approximation) of complaints made and plumber visits. I know guest services logs in complaints-and if you don’t see them doing lots of typing when you complain it isn’t being registered., so be sure to say you want your complaint logged. Customer service can verify your logged complaints and may give you some additional type of compensation when you mention #of days inconvenienced as well as the insulting $100 credit.
  20. Finding a cabin steward can be like finding a needle in a haystack on day 1. Cabin access can begin as early as 1 but they are busy with other items. I don’t sit in my cabin to wait for them. I now leave notes for my attendant. Big piece of paper, in marker, printed neatly (a chore for me!!) list service request (AM or PM), bed request and any amenities missing (D+). Usually I’ll see them in the hall on Day 2.
  21. Typically it is the first night and the next morning. The port you are departing from may not hold it the first night. When you say not seeing it in the cruise planner do you mean in the app? The app doesn’t fully load everything until embarkation day. if you mean the paper copy and you are past day 1 or 2 you’ve missed the lessons.
  22. 1st day you are off North Carolina….typically Warner than NY!
