  1. This is the same setup that is on Grandeur. The elevator systems are completely autonomous so you have to push buttons for both systems, and as you suggest, it ends up monopolizing both systems. Additionally, only 1 set of the elevators goes all the way to the "top" so if you're going to the Viking Crown Room, the Concierge Club or Izumi, you have only 1 option for getting there unless you want to walk up to the top from the deck below.
  2. We usually make reservations when we go to Izumi but I don't remember whether they were ever available on the Cruise Planner, ahead of time, or not. We usually make our reservations for Izumi after we board.
  3. According to the most current deck plans, the Connoisseur Club is still there, on Freedom. I think most of the ships have removed this lounge which is a shame.
  4. There isn't much of a beach (I'm not sure there's any, actually) at Paradise. There is a rocky entrance to the water that has excellent snorkeling but I can't remember anywhere that you could actually lay out on the beach. I could be wrong. I am not a beach person so I just never noticed.
  5. Yes. This is as I suspected. There is usually only 1 treatment appointment available the advertised “cheap” rate and it is usually very early in the day on day 1.
  6. I agree. $89 for a 50 min massage is a pretty good price. Be sure that you can actually GET that price. They usually have 1 appointment (which is normally very early on the first day) at the low price and then everything at a normal time is much higher. But if you can get that price and you're happy with the appointment time, I say book it and forget about onboard prices.
  7. No Concierge Lounge that I am aware of has any drinks available (except for the coffee machine, when it’s working) outside of the breakfast and happy hours. Typically, during the “off” hours, the CL is unmanned and offers no food or drinks of any kind (other than coffee).
  8. I was able to purchase the DDP on Grandeur for $42 PP for our October 6 sailing. That's the only time I've seen it that low for any cruise we have booked. Normally we don't buy the drink package but I thought we would try it and see if we liked having it.
  9. I tried going back through the entire thread but unfortunately, for me, I have a short attention span. I decided it would be easier to just ask my question than to hope that it might be answered somewhere along the way. We have rented a car from Enterprise at IAH and will be driving to Galveston to stay the night before our cruise (arriving Sept. 1, sailing Sept. 2). If Dan drops me and the luggage off at the port and takes the car to the Enterprise location (apparently 4 miles from the Port...this is what we were told), will they shuttle him back to the port ? Do they offer a shuttle to the port under any circumstances ? For the record, Enterprise is charging us $150 for the one-way rental, which totally sucks but we want the flexibility of a car as we have some personal biz to attend to in Houston. We were able to snag a Marriott property in Galveston using Marriott Rewards points even though it is Labor Day weekend. I was surprised that they allowed it. YIPPEE !!
  10. I find this to be the case with many performances - ice shows, aqua theaters, etc. I have learned to just ignore it.
  11. UGH. So sorry that you are not feeling well. Hopefully the sea air will squelch it quickly.
  12. Grand Bahama ?? Wow, I didn't think anyone except for Carnival went there. That is, by far, the worst option (IMO) of any of the reroutes that I have heard. Sorry to hear it. At least you're ok with going to Miami. Otherwise, it would be a double whammy. It seems like you are one of those "glass half full" people so I'm sure you will just consider it an adventure and make the best of it. It is a bit distressing, however, to find the Royal is using GB as a reroute for the Coco Cay debacle.
  13. I don't speak bot (or dweeb-geek) but I'm sure this is something utterly cerebral and profound. ...or maybe I've just been told to F* off. Either way, I'm good with it. ??
  14. Not that this is at all helpful to you, but I am thinking of doing the St. Kitts railway when we go to St. Kitts over Christmas. I have heard mixed reviews - some have said that it was a tad boring (I think Master Matt had some similar remarks ? Not sure) but I have never done it and I love trains. So....here we go.
  15. This is the result of the unnatural integration of bots and dweeb-geeks. Just sayin'.
  16. Sorry, Jay. I re-read your post and now see that you said it was a stop in CC on Jan 10. Apparently I'm illiterate. Sorry
  17. I went back again and the itin change comes up for Jan 24 but not for Jan 3. So, apparently it's a fairly narrow range of cruise dates that are affected. I couldn't see any difference in the itins either, BTW.
  18. Jay, I don't see a Grandeur cruise on January 10. There are 9 day cruises on the 3rd and the 24th and a 12 day cruise on Jan 12th but that one doesn't mention Coco Cay. I wanted to look b/c I wanted to see what the itin change ribbon looked like.
