  1. Twangbot, I am with you on this one. I wish that they would charge me just a little bit more and include a few things but....in this very competitive market it's all about getting to the lowest possible fare. Too bad, really.
  2. Sometimes it helps to call. I was on a cruise a while back and it was well within the 60 day window. I called to ask "what's up" and within 15 minutes the entertainment reservations came online. Sometimes I think they just forget ! Maybe it was just a coincidence....
  3. Great review. Sounds like you had a great time and that the Key was a real benefit to you on this one. Thanks for coming back and giving us all the details !!!
  4. This is true. Only the O and Q class ships offer prior reservations to production shows. You should be able to reserve special “activities “ such as cupcake decorating or sushi making classes but the shows are first come first served on Freedom and below ship classes.
  5. I had the same thing happen last week for a cruise that had been paid off for months. I asked Michelle to look into it for me and Royal had boggled the gratuities. It is a Star Class Cruise and the grats are included in the price so she had to work with them to get it squared away. It took a couple of days which sort of surprised me. Seems like that should be something easy to fix. Whatever. My advice is to get it fixed. You don’t want to give Royal any excuse to cancel your cruise due to nonpayment....especially if you got a good deal on the fare.
  6. We've been om this one, too. Excellent choice. Very personalized.
  7. Technically, swimwear is never appropriate in the MDR. Thing is, men's (in particular) swimwear is often interchangeable with men's shorts so in some cases it really doesn't matter.
  8. The Ultimate Dining Package went on sale on Black Friday and every once in a while an isolated price reduction comes up but that’s the only time I’ve seen any dining plan on sale.
  9. Whatever you do, do NOT book a "3 hour tour". Those can get you into REAL trouble. ?
  10. My recommendation (especially for Star Class !) is get on as early as you can. There are lots of things to enjoy and the first day is hectic at best. Get it all goin' as fast as you can ! More helpful about issues such as this will be your Genie. Once your Genie contacts you, he/she will give you some very specific information on when and where to board. The Genie will be there (or have a surrogate there) to help you, personally. They want you on as soon as possible as well b/c they want to get you and all of their guests settled.
  11. Sooo disappointed to hear this ! Have been looking forward to trying the oysters....both Dan and I love them ! I love it when they are extra salty so all-in-all, sounds like a recipe for disappointment. Thanks for the warning though.....
  12. I never took a tour that brought you back to the ship (or picked you up at the ship) so I don’t know the answer to your question. The tuk tuks that we have been on are “ad hoc”...no scheduled tours...you just grab one and go. It seems as though the ride was probably 30-45 minutes maybe ? They just drop you off at the same location where they pick you up.
  13. Agree. It is worth the money to do it once.
  14. The only stackable certificates are ones that are earned by both family members on the same cruise. Example....Dan and I almost always are both awarded a certificate for every cruise. We are allowed to stack those certificate and apply them, together, to a cruise so long as they were both earned on the same cruise. You canNOT stack certificates earned on different cruises.
  15. Hey, Christie !! Haven't heard from you in ages ! Welcome back !
  16. WOW !!! Pretty awesome. I think your Genie must be a real Genie ! I've never had that much reserved before getting onboard. Where are you eating lunch on embark day ? I had our Genie make reservations at Chops b/c I am concerned that it might be very busy on embark day now, with The Key people dining there. We have normally been the only ones in the restaurant but I think those days are over !
  17. I think the BOGO package is a great deal. It's a good way to try a specialty restaurant and see if it's something you will enjoy. When you book it, they will assign you a restaurant for the first night but you can change it to a different restaurant if you want, once you are on the ship. Then you also choose where you want to eat the second night.
  18. I was on a cruise once where one of the kids' activities was a scavenger hunt where the winner would get a signature of staff from as many different countries as they could. The organizers had a list of the different countries that were represented on board and they verified that the names/signatures were actually representing the correct country. I thought that was a really fun idea !!! Of course, you probably wouldn't want to do a whole hunt like that but maybe you could find a country where there were only a couple of staff that were from there and see who could find that/those staff members. You'd need a little help from someone on board (staff member) and I'm not sure they would do it but it would be fun !!
  19. The reason to use Hertz is not for the price. I never EVER use Hertz any other time (we are both Executive with National). The reason to use Hertz for this trip is b/c the Hertz office and the Residence Inn share a parking lot. You can rent the car at the airport (no one-way penalty), drive the rental car all day long and as much into the night as you want to, drop off the car at the Hertz office and drop the keys in the night drop, and walk a few steps to the hotel for the night. The hotel offers a shuttle to the terminal the next day. It is a very easy way to do the drive/commute from Orlando airport to the cruise terminal and enjoy a day and an evening at Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, theme parks or whatever you want to do.
  20. Welcome, csper28605 ! Are you in the 1 BR or 2 BR ATS ?
