  1. It's very interesting that you say this.... Many years ago, when we were still very new to cruising, we met a couple of cruising veterans in San Juan and spent an entire afternoon chatting. They told us that one day we would no longer be "in love" with cruising in the Caribbean and we would need to branch out and start doing other kinds of itineraries. At first glance, this seems like a very Captain Obvious kind of statement but it's taken us a while to actually get there. We truly have evolved in our cruising style(s). We no longer get off the ship in many of the Caribbean ports. We are no longer satisfied with the MDR meals. While we still LOVE cruising, we really are getting tired of cruising in the Caribbean ! Since we are still working, it is difficult for us to do the longer and more exotic itineraries, but once we retire I can see a big change to the way we cruise. I think this happens to most long term cruisers. You see it with the Pinnacles. Of course they still cruise in the Caribbean from time-to-time but they definitely favor the longer and more "unusual" itineraries. I can't WAIT until we can do some Baltic states and Persian Gulf and Pacific Island and Australia and New Zealand and Far East cruises - all back-to-back ! ?
  2. I have found this to be true, too, sometimes. But for me, it isn't really about the cost. We need to fly AA b/c we both have status with AA and in order to fly AA into FLL, we have to connect, which is a no-no for me, if it can be avoided. So we just book DCA to MIA and deal with the "commute" if there is one.
  3. Sorry, but I think that thing is hideous. I don't use any of them so it's no problem for me but....really ? UGH
  4. I hope you have a nice beach at Condado. One of the times we stayed in Condado all we had was a rocky outcropping (it was beautiful though !). We are leaving for SJ on April 27 and this time we are staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan. It will be our first time to stay in OSJ. I wouldn't worry about it. If they tell you to book 3:30 or later and you are booked at 3:15 I would say you're golden !
  5. VERY nice ! Welcome to the Blog and the Boards.
  6. Because I travel to Europe frequently I purchased a dual power hair dryer. Problem is....it is so damn hard to change from 110 to 220 that I threw it in the trash ! I just use the <wholly inadequate> ones they have in the hotels over there. I look like a scarecrow but at least I don't have trouble with the crows over there. ?
  7. This is an excellent tip....just remember (those who may be considering it) that your device must be dual power and be compatible with the European currents. Using a US-only device in a European outlet is an easy way to burn up your hairdryer (or whatever else you have plugged in there). Most cell phones/computers are already dual voltage so that's a good thing - just be sure before you plug it in.
  8. Yes. I''ve never had a waiter tell me "no". Just remember that when they bring food from another venue, somebody has had to go and fetch it....so I make sure I let them know I appreciate the effort - nice tip !
  9. Only if you want to be protected against unexpected risks. I’m sure Twangster and Sweety have some important opinions on this subject due to recent events beyond their control.
  10. Interesting. I didn’t realize that Ovation is different from the other Q class ships. I guess I thought they all still had only Concierge lounges and not a Suites Lounge. Honestly, this is one thing I would welcome on the Q Class is a Suites Lounge. But right now, most of them still have Concierge only.
  11. I love the suites waiting area. The bar and snacks are a nice touch. Thanks for taking us along !
  12. Welcome JoAnne and Dave and wmacooper !
  13. Oh no ! Is this a Boeing fiasco issue ? They probably didn’t tell you... So very sorry to hear this. It strikes fear in all of our hearts to hear about something like this so suddenly. At least you have something coming up relatively soon. ???
  14. I wasn't sure I would like Anthem as I am also a O Class fan but I did enjoy our B2B on Anthem. I actually think Dan prefers Anthem to the O class as he loved, loved, loved 270 and doesn't have a particular love for the Aquatheater. I truly love them both. Anthem is very different from the other ship classes but it's a beautiful ship. Enjoy your cruise on her !
  15. Hmmm...this is definitely conflicting with other "official" responses I have read that say that Izumi Hibachi is NOT excluded from the Unlimited Dining Package.
  16. I have read one account of someone who was able to get their RoyalUp stateroom assignment changed but I think that was a one-off. Officially once they accept your offer and charge your credit card you are stuck with whatever they assign you. It's a little safer in the Suites categories b/c there are few truly bad suites locations. For the lower categories you are definitely taking a risk.
  17. What is the URL of the link where you can check to see if you have a RoyalUp offer ? I can't find it ! Thanks
