That is really such a personal kind of decision. For anyone who is new to cruising, I say that it is wise to give the MDR a try first. We ate in the MDR for YEARS before we ever tried our first specialty restaurant. We just, eventually, got tired of the same menus over and over again and decided to venture out...so if you have "been there, done that" with the MDR and enjoy eating at the specialties, I'd say $154 for the UDP is an excellent price (7 nights ?).

Is Wings Airways a member of the One World Alliance ? How did you manage to get the exit row seat ? ??

I am also in NOVA. If you like Amaretto (me too !) try getting a pina colada made with amaretto instead of rum. It is liquid candy !

This is particularly offensive for men. I guess it’s somehow effeminate to drink cappuccinos after 10 AM. I am also a frequent violator of this norm. I also don’t care if they brand me a tourist. So be it.

Be careful with pizza in Italy. To them, pepperoni is peppers.

I think anyone can snorkel if you have your own gear. I believe the cost is associated with renting snorkeling equipment.

Were you in an A1 or A2 on Oasis ? I seem to recall that you were in an A1. I was shocked how much smaller the A2 (I was in 10720 as well) is than the A1. Still PLENTY big of course, but considerably smaller than the ones on deck 8.

I'm still hoping they will change their minds.

Haven't been there in about 4 years but the time we stayed there we really enjoyed it.

Was all of that food at Hooked included in the UDP or was some of it (steak and whole, broiled lobster) upcharges ?

YIPPEE !!!! So glad that you decided to blog this one. I was going to beg you to do it but now I don't have to ! You are in the best possible position. You have already done SC before so you know what to ask for and what to just do yourself. I completely agree with you about excursions. We have long since given up doing many of them. SC is so completely encompassing that we love to just enjoy the ship and all that there is to do. Quite honestly, we found that Anthem was a superior SC experience to even Harmony. Maybe we are just getting better at it but we really really enjoyed being SC on Anthem. I think this will be especially true for you with the teens. There is SO much for them on Anthem.

I think this does happen to some. I have long since given up worrying about whether I get my money's worth or not. I never, ever do. But I don't buy the DBP to save money. I buy it to save energy and to have the flexibility to get whatever I want whenever I want it and also to prepay this expense so that I do not have to worry about how much we are spending onboard. I never get the combo drinks+internet package. We purchase the internet package once onboard, using our D+ discount. This is the only cruise-related expense that Dan pays ! ...and usually there is more than enough OBC from our RCCL Visa points rebate to cover it so he rarely pays even for that ! What a great deal !

I agree with you. It seems like the self-assist crowd is growing on every cruise. I always avoid using self-assist unless I have to use it. It is always so unorganized and loaded with line cutters.

The price on both the DBP and UDP have fallen on our Liberty cruise for the first time. I rebooked both and saved about $80.

I think there will be a lot of casino folks on this cruise b/c it has been listed on the comp cruise list for MONTHS. So looking forward to it. Hope to meet you onboard.

Congratulations. This may be the one and only time I have ever heard of anyone actually getting a definitive (and accurate, let's hope !) answer from anyone at RCCL on the phone ! How many times did the call have to be escalated for you to finally get someone who knew anything ??

I probably wouldn't try that but if you eat VERY early and carry your own luggage off as soon as they permit self-assist luggage departures you will probably be ok.
