  1. Yes, you can order food from the MDR to be served in the CK. Yes, it is extra work for the CK staff, as someone has to go and fetch it and bring it back. One thing that can definitely help minimize the extra work is to let the CK know ahead of time that you will be ordering food from the MDR. That way, they can prepare by having the “special” item on hand ahead of time. On lobster nights, they are generally prepared to provide lobster tails as it’s a rather common request and they usually have some on hand already. Just check the menus every day and let them know in the CK if you’re going to want a special delivery. It helps make the special order less of a PITA.
  2. Tip: When they are about 30 minutes before beginning the muster drill, go find a comfortable seat in a common area on the deck where your muster station is (R Bar or Champagne Bar or whatever it happens to be) so that all of you and your mother can be comfortable. When they begin gathering for the muster drill, go and have your sea passes scanned by the person at your muster drill station and then go back and sit down. Someone can take your mother’s card for her and have it scanned. There’s no need for anyone to stand around outside or have your mother worry about getting around in her chair. Just make sure that all of your seapass cards gets scanned at the correct station and you can sit somewhere comfortable during the muster drill.
  3. I AM old but can validate this stereotype as I am sitting in the bingo hall at our American Legion right now waiting for bingo to start. <sigh>
  4. ThyriC, I’m so sorry that I never got back to you with the name of the new Concierge. The last day of the cruise was SO rough that they closed the outer decks to pax and disabled the elevators that go up to the CL. I am assuming that they CL was closed but don’t know for sure. I’m pretty sure that Ilona was the DL concierge last week. I guess they moved her up. Not sure who is in the DL now. Are the cruises back on schedule ?
  5. I would agree that the Key is probably not worth the money on Grandeur HOWEVER - last Thursday when we disembarked from Grandeur along with 3000 of our closest friends at the same time, I was envious of those with The Key as I’m fairly confident that they got priority getting off the ship. The Key was sold out on that sailing. I imagine it was worth every cent at that moment !
  6. As I recall, the thermal spa areas include steam room, hot/dry room and thermal beds. There may be a couples' massage area. We never did that and so I am not certain. Of course, there are men's and women's changing/shower areas that are separate but all of the thermal spa areas are co-ed.
  7. Better yet, just tell them you want the whole Maine lobster ! It's waaaay better than the warm water lobster tail, anyway. Since you will be SC you will not be charged anything for the whole lobster.
  8. Subtle difference. I’m fairly sure the PJ person contacted them via the Genie
  9. There aren’t any AT shows to reserve on the 12/1 sailing either. The only reservations available are Cats and Frozen in Time.
  10. Have an awesome time ! Bermuda was beautiful earlier this week. I know you’ll have a great time.
  11. This is very interesting. I didn’t think the Genies had any option to purchase cabanas for SC anymore. Good info
  12. I would take the aft one. The one up front has a horrible view
  13. Who knows. My guess is they will continue to perform routine maintenance and try and keep this kind of thing to a minimum but I doubt they will do much with the rust in places where it's not highly visible. It was in places like underneath the balconies above me. etc...where no one could see it from the outside but you could see it looking up from your balcony.
  14. We just got off Grandeur and I will say that there was a lot of rust visible.
  15. That's very interesting. Wonder why they are waiting until May 2021 ? Won't they be ready when she comes out of dry dock ?
  16. Sounds reasonable to me ! I think maybe the reasoning goes something like this: "Enchantment was very popular when she sailed from Baltimore before. Maybe we can sneak her into Baltimore again and nobody will notice".
  17. I have not rented a cabana in many years - certainly not since they started Perfect Day so I really do not know what the Genies can and cannot do for you regarding cabanas. While I have read that Star Class no longer have "first dibs" on cabanas at Coco Cay, I suspect they still have some ability to influence activities....but who knows ? Here's my guess. I think that they would give you 8 wrist bans to be distributed in any way that you wish. Then the other 3 people will have to purchase the day pass for South Beach. Since I have never even SEEN a South Beach cabana (as no one else has either) I can only guess that once you have the wrist bands, they probably really do not care who comes and goes from the cabanas themselves. This is all just a SWAG at this point but I do NOT believe that they will allow all 11 of you into South Beach for the purchase of the cabana. I believe that 3 will have to pay. For my upcoming Anthem cruise in Feb., day passes to SB are $64.99 each.
  18. Didn't Royal also have a "king and queen" ad ? Dan still calls himself the king when he is on a cruise !
  19. I was a skeptic, too...and it has only been very recently that I decided to try Uber. It's so easy. They send you a fare, up front, you pay with a CC that has already been attached to the app and they track the vehicle to your location, give you a description and license plate number of the vehicle and a picture and name of the driver. It really couldn't be easier. There are still times when we choose to use a taxi or a shuttle but we now choose Uber some of the time. Even Dan uses it occasionally !!
