  1. As a general rule, once the GTY Room is assigned it does not change. The only time I have heard of changes being made after assignment was when Royal was recategorizing some of the staterooms. I wouldn't expect your room to be changed by Royal.
  2. My goodness. These poor folks have been plagued the past few years. Prayers for minimal damage and casualties.
  3. Hmmm...you happened to pick both a ship and departure port that I’ve never been on/to ! ...but in general, make sure you have your paperwork in order....you Set Sail Pass, luggage tags and passport. Get to the port early (10 -10:30 AM). That’s about all you can do, really. Good luck !
  4. There are many perks that I enjoy when traveling in a full suite (Majesty and Empress excepted): priority boarding (better at some ports than others), full service breakfast in one of the specialty restaurants every day, reserved seating for shows, access to the suites lounge, backstage and bridge tours, access to the services of the suites concierge, priority disembarkation (better at some ports than others)...so access to a Coastal Kitchen isn't really the only consideration. We always get the UDP even when we travel on a ship WITH a CK but that's a personal preference.
  5. Very sorry for your loss and welcome to the blog.
  6. As long as the final payment date has not passed, you can cancel or transfer the booking without penalty. If the final payment date has passed, there will be a cancellation penalty that is not recoverable. If Royal cancels then all of these cancellation fees are waived but in the absence of official cancellation, the penalties are in effect. This is for North American booking rules. Other regions have different rules.
  7. Something similar for me. I went down one that had a mat and you went down head first on your stomach. Every time I went over one of the section joints, it pounded my knees. By the time I got to the bottom, both of my knees were badly bruised. That was the end of my water slide escapades.
  8. For one of the water slides on one of the ship (I think it was on NAV, but not sure), they had a stand-on scale at the top of the slide. It was a 2-person slide. Both Dan and I had to stand on the scale. It registers either “green” or “red”. It does not produce a value....just “pass/fail”. We failed. ??
  9. The only way to find out the details of this offer is to call Club Royale.866-213-3116
  10. Internet is not included on Mariner (only Oasis and Quantum class ships) so you will have to purchase internet either from the cruise planner or onboard. You do get priority disembarkation but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will be escorted. It usually does though. There will be a reserved section for D+, suites and Pinnacles at the theaters. You will get breakfast in either Chops or Giovannis.
  11. Are you on Anthem or Mariner ? I will be there on 2-11 on Anthem.
  12. It makes sense. This is probably the configuration that works best for the sofa bed.
  13. Just remember that if your son goes into the water park, an adult must also go along with him and pay full price, even if the adult does not plan on doing any of the slides. Personally, for a 6/7 year old, I think the free kids' water park would be plenty. I wanted to go there and play in the water, myself ! I don't think he would be too old for that water park at ALL. I think he would enjoy it and it would save you beaucoup bucks. You could check out the big water park from afar (and for free) and decide if it was something you wanted to do another time.
  14. Don't feel bad. I have NEVER EVER gotten the ability to bid on an upgrade by using the website. If I don't get the email, I am NOT going to get an opportunity to upgrade. Even if within 30 days of the sailing....nothing. Ever.
  15. Congratulations ! Those sound like really good offers to me. I would be cautious about bidding on the 1 BR ATS b/c aside from the 1 on deck 11, the rest of them have REALLY small balconies. I don't think I would be happy with one on 12 or 14. ...and of course, you have no control over which one they upgrade you to. I don't think I'd take that chance. The 2 BR ones though...absolutely.
  16. My only concern about NAV is, I have found the prices on NAV to be exceptionally high on a per person/per day basis (especially for suites) - particularly for the "add-ons" like the drinks packages and/or dining packages. Not knowing which port you are looking at, I would say look at Oasis, Allure (no water slides yet...but maybe by the summertime ?), Liberty, Anthem. Having done a B2B on NAV, I would probably not do it again b/c of the prices.
  17. Neesa, I have never been on Mariner but I will guess that it is basically the same layout as the rest of the Voyager Class ships. From what I can tell, the OS on Mariner (e.g., 1320) does not have the pole in the entryway. No pole at all, from what I can see (video on cruisedeckplans.com). I don't know if there are any OS available on your sailing. While you will still be dealing with the pool deck above, the deck area above the OS "humop" are more transit areas vs lounging areas. Might be less noisy there. The biggest problem I see for 1252 is the fact that it is so far forward. I would hate being way up there. Frankly, I'm not sure I would spend the money for an OS on Mariner since those cruises are so short. If you're doing a B2B, that's a different story.
